Satu Lagi Bar is probably the more popular place in Kristal Hotel but just to the right side of it, there is a restaurant called Next Door. It is an outdoor seating place to have dinner and drinks and to get away from the smoke. Its very laid back with comfortable seating , ceiling fans and 3 big screen TV's to watch your favorite sports programs. Kids can enjoy in a play area off to the side. The menu is limited but the food looks good. Tonight we are trying the tenderloin and the pasta aglio olio. Its a good place for a relaxing evening but bring your Off Lotion as there are mosquitos.

Kristal is located far away from the center of Jakarta, so the traffic jams make it impossible to go 'down town', unfortunately. On the other hand, it is relatively quiet as well.
The Indonesian fare is good, but don't try the international buffet, at least not the Italian one. As of 18.00h the meals are simmering and cooking.
Unfortunately Kristal has moved its café to the main building. The pastries are awfully good, but the atmosphere has disappeared. Probably this removal is due to the opening of a reasonable Starbucks, 100 m down the road, but they offer less attractive cookies etc.
Spacious rooms with a kitchenette is a great advantage. We'll be back next year.

This is a slightly dog-eared property in South Jakarta but it works and it works very well. The staff is friendly, helpful and they go out of their way to make sure that everything works. The rooms need updating. I'm staying in a two-bedroom place - the bathrooms are clean but very basic (the shower door needs to be replaced and the toilet off the master bedroom is situated on a strange platform that must be there to hide some of the plumbing. The kitchen includes a two burner hot-plate - something you'd see in a construction camp more often than in a hotel. But, guess what?, the TV work perfectly and includes all of the movie, news and sports channels you'd want -- I've seen more NFL games here in a couple of weeks than in the past 10 years moving around the world. The wifi is excellent, and it's free, everywhere. You can log in at the bar, by the pool, in the lobby, at the coffee shop, everywhere. The health club has good trainers and the equipment is more than adequate. The pool is large, very clean and features a swim up bar. The food and drink in the Satu Lagi Bar is good and varied and the atmosphere of the place is worth the price of admission (which is zero) - it's a deja vu experience, filled with expats in the mining, oil and other outdoor industries, most of the patrons smoke and there's sense of being 'out there' which you wouldn't find in the lobby or bar at the Ritz Carlton or the Four Seasons. The food in the restaurant is good as well. Within about 100 meters of the hotel there's a Hero Supermarket with all of the basics (including nice Wagyu beef) and a Starbucks. Taxis are always available, it's 10 minutes (20 in bad traffic) to Pondok Indah Mall and about the same to the relatively charming Kamang district. I like the place. I'm been staying here for the past month and if a hotel doesn't wear on you after that long, it's good.

A quick contrast -- the Four Seasons in Jakarta feels like a Four Seasons, pretty much indistinguishable from any other Four Seasons apart from what appears to be bomb-proofing on the windows, is neither as friendly as the Kristal nor, and this is really irritating, does it offer free wifi. C'mon Four Seasons, get with the program! Take a page from the Kristal's book and make it friendly and put in free wifi -- this is 2013!

3 nights on a business trip, mostly used by Expats.
Good restaurant, the Breakfast and Dinner costs almost the same ...
Fitness center was good equipped. Swimming pool well maintained.
Location is little inconvenient due to bad Traffic and the road leading to this hotel is small and jam packed in peak hours.

Overall the stay was OK (except for the outside noise early in the morning to through you out of bed)

Pleasantly surprised when checked in here and shown to our room. I had seen the reviews on TripAdvisor and Kristal was larger, roomier and far nicer than I had anticipated. Really friendly and helpful staff and large clean rooms. Breakfast and buffet dinner were also a highlight.

Would stay here again but only for business as this hotel is in south Jakarta which was convenient for me as the Jakarta traffic is hell.Clean rooms, good food and reasonabley priced hotel.Cant think of anything negative apart from the hotel Wifi is useless but it is free.
Nice swimming pool and large gym which is free to guests to use.
There is a supermarket right next door if you need anything, apart from that you will need a taxi to take you to any restaurants etc.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in tower one as these seem to be more updated than the rooms in tower two.

This hotel specializes in long term stays and you'll see families and employees living there. The conveniences are there - pool, pub, restaurant and very good service from the staff. The food in the pub and restaurant was very good and consistent. I was there a week and did not have a meal that was disappointing. My room however, desperately needed refurbishment. To say the bed had been well broken in would be an understatement. I was very glad to get home after a week on that. We had a business conference in the facility which was handled well by their staff without any issues. BTW, the hotel photos are from many years ago so don't expect what you see on their site.
