We discovered this restaurant by chance as it was only a few doors from where we were staying in Jakarta (Alila hotel). What a find! It serves a mix of padang and Sundanese food - all very delicious and reasonably priced. Our favourite dishes were the sayur nangka (jackfruit curry), gulai cincang kambing (mutton curry) and perkedel (Sundanese style croquettes. All in all, we had 7 dishes, rice and drinks for a grand total of Rp150,000. The only dessert option seemed to be durian icecream so we decided not to have dessert.
For those not familiar with Padang style restaurants, the way it works is that you go up the front and point to any dishes you would like to try and they bring them all to the table for you and you pay for what you eat.
I'm not sure if this restaurant is undergoing a name change but they do have dual signage at present and told us that their name is Istana Ayam Pop.
