Very disappointed when i know somebody use my room for smoking and eat my snack before i check out the room. When i call front desk to ask, the staff telling me that room already check out because when house keeping checking the room and no body and no baggage left in the room, its automaticly the room check out. But i still can use my key to open the room when the staff telling my room already check out. This hotel don't have good personality staff. After complain also no body apologize for that, until i ask to meet the manager. May be this hotel no need guest anymore

Actually we were forced to choose this hotel as our first choice hotel that was closer to our own home was full :-) We needed to spend some nights in a hotel as once again the area of our home was flooded recently. Nevertheless, we had no regrets for our choice. Although the hotel was quite old, but it was good maintained and had a reasonable rate. The smell in the lobby was already good :-) The staff were friendly, nice and helpful. The size of the room and the bathroom was also reasonable. Although the bed was at the small side, it offered a good sleep. The breakfast offered also quite good and broad choices. But the biggest plus point of this hotel was its location that was in Pecenongan area which was famous for its Chinese food hawkers in the night. Thus during the flooding time in Jakarta, we did not have any problems to get some decent food :-)

I spent 2 nights at The Redtop Hotel last January and was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism, courtesy and affability of the personnel. The hotel is situated in a central Jakarta location although the area is a bit scruffy during the day but gets lively and colorful at night.Security is paramount at the entrance and no matter who you are,you are going to get screened on your way back to the hotel even if you left for just 5 minutes,I surely didn`t mind about that. The Redtop seems to be ideal for conferences, festivals and weddings, infact there was one during my stay with probably 500 guests and with an incredible abundance of flowers and decorations unseen in Australia or even Europe! For those 2 days I was the only westerner at the hotel,I presume the reason is that this place is not right in the tourist area and they dont get many visitors of European background but they were very efficient and helpful with their English
Thumbs up from me,I surely loved The Redtop Hotel!

This hotel is one of my fav. hotel to go to in Jakarta.
A great breakfast service, friendly staffs, clean, comfy bed, with little to none smoking environment, and above all, a reasonable rate.

The surroundings are also full of restaurants and dinners, which is a plus.

overall, it's a very good hotel with a good price.

But, i won't really recommend "family with kids" to stay in this hotel because the area is rather secluded from a kid attraction,
and it also take at least 30mins - 1 hour drive to get to a tourist spots, which could make a fussy kid go nuts.

The hotel room we had was nicely appointed, with toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, a hair-dryer and quite spacious to boot. Good security, as one needs to be scanned before one can enter. And you need to swipe your room card key in the lift before you can press your floor button. The buffet breakfast is good - quite a big spread, with rice and dishes on one side, bread and pastries on the other & even noodles and porridge & breakfast cereals and juices.

Cons: i) one has to pay a 500,000 rupiah deposit (which will be refunded on checking out).
ii) no free wi-fi (I think only certain floors get free wi-fi), which I is quite unacceptable in this day and age.

Other than that, it's a good hotel. And one can get a good view of Jakarta city, MONAS etc. (depending on which side your room is facing).

Location is very central and this is the key selling point.

Lobby looks nice and grand with high ceilings.
Reception staff are friendly and attentive. English was not too much of an issue with general questions. Avoid peak hour (when many people come to reception) as the staff do get rattled and may not be as attentive as normal.

Rooms are nice. Older in style décor but large in size.
Ensuite consists of shower over bath with shower curtains.

Breakfast had a good spread and should cover most dietary needs.

Lots of famous local restaurants within 10 - 15 minutes walk from the front of the hotel.

Overall a nice experience and whilst the name sounds very local, it is a good enough hotel to consider given its price and especially its location.
