Stayed for 2 nights. First of all, the bed and pillow sheets were stained, and very dirty. Bathtub with hairs from previous occupants. Room smells like smoke. AC did not work. The only good thing about the hotel was the breakfast buffet, which was pretty good. Wifi extremely slow, and only available at the lobby.
Avoid this place if possible, quite a dissappointment.

Good
1)Friendly staffs.
2)Fast actions.
3) Near 3 shopping malls.
4) Buffet breakfast.

Bad
1)No internet connection for room - Need to go to Coffee House, buy a drink/food for free internet access. Can't even buy internet credits.
2)No fridge in the room.
3)Poor location...Always caught in a jam, except for the small shop at the hotel lobby no other shop outside.
4) Check-out at 1300hrs. Allowance only for 10 mins or your room card will be deactivated. To re-activate need to go personally to the reception.

I stayed for five days in this hotel. Build in the 70ties last century and it never saw a renovation. Smoking was allowed everywhere and I smoke. But there is no system at all to remove smoke from public area's. The hotel was fully booked and a conference of tax advisors took place, all smokers. The staff was friendly but uneducated. Tablecloths that become dirty were turned around. Nobody uses the swimming pool also due to the absence of facilities. My wife got respiratory infections. (btw I do not smoke in my room). It was a disaster. You might think that I overreact but i must state this not the situation. I shall never book this hotel again.

My family and I stayed at Mega Anggrek a day before my graduation. We checked in at 6 pm. We had kinda not good experience sleeping at this hotel.
We stayed in double room, but then air conditioner did not work, after 30 minutes repairing, still did not worked.
Then we moved to another room. The air-con is on, but we cannot sleep because the bed itchy.
Our beds were itchy, I think they didn't have the sheets washed and there were bugs on the sheets.

I stayed at the Mega Anggrek 2 nights. The location was good and very strategic. Breakfast was good, huge and tasty, staffs were polite, friendly and helpful.
The whole hotel (including restaurant, lobby, swimming pool, guest rooms) was clean. I've got a bathroom that smelled so flagrantly and nice
When i payed the price of a three-star-hotel i had expected something much better.
I'll come back there again at least for next year.

My first stay at Mega Anggrek Hotel was in 2006. Today, Mega Anggrek is better than before.

Mega Anggrek now has a new building with some new type of room also old type with new furnished room. One of it's type is luxurious apartment, (i wonder what's look like sleeping in that kind of room).

It also has nice swimming pool. With this kind of facility, of course this hotel is suitable for family-leisure. Last time, the only entertainment it has is discotheque and karaoke. Well, for me, swimming is also one of entertainment. With it's new swimming pool, it be much better.

New building also has large convention hall (for three star hotel) at first floor of the building. They said it can carry 1500 people. This type of hall can also be rent for wedding party, seminar, or even exhibition. It looks luxury with it's full-red-carpet floor.

The restaurant, now it has some table inside windowed-bridge (that connect new building to the old building). It's a good alternative if we want to see outdoor view while having breakfast/lunch or dinner.

I think the room-rate is ok for three star hotel in Jakarta. Not very concerned with that since my office pay it for me. The room is quite clean, tidy, their staff is ok, and one thing new with their uniform-attribute, is that they wear new badge that show customer satisfaction is their top priority (well something like that, I'd kind forget with the detail).

Overall, it's much better than before, especially if you want to take vacation with your family. Megaanggrek is very close (5 minutes) to Taman Anggrek shopping centre, (one of large mall in Jakarta), 25 minutes to pantai indah kapuk (great water park), 25 minutes to dunia fantasi (largest theme park in Jakarta), and something like 30 minutes to international airport Soekarno Hatta.

Location: Nothing within walking distance, but less than 5 minutes away by taxi is a large shopping centre.

Facilities: There’s posters all over the hotel promoting their health spa and hair salon. There’s a pool on the third floor, with the windows of third floor rooms less than a metre away. Internet connection is available by purchasing a prepaid card. 35,000rp for an hour or 70,000rp for 3 hours. Wifi is only available in the lobby, not in the rooms. There’s a tour agent on the ground floor. Their laundry has an OK package going on. 35,000rp to launder what you wore for the day: shirt, undershirt, pants, underpants, sock and handkerchief. A bright neon sign next to the front counter indicating the pub in the basement. Did not try any of the facilities other than the Internet. Got about 10KB/s throughput. Would have liked to use a gym, but there’s none. Stayed in the new wing where there’s only 1 lift servicing the block.

Lobby & front counter: Smallish lobby with minimal seating. There’s no convenient place to sit and chat other than the café. The front counter is also small: 2 or 3 groups checking in at the same time creates a long queue, making it look very crowded.

Eatery: The solitary restaurant is only well patronised during breakfast. Doubtless that everybody there has breakfast included in the room rate. Its 50,000 extra for any room to have breakfast for two included. Considering that there are no other convenient alternatives, it is advisable. Breakfast is average by Indonesian hotel standards, but that’s not saying much. Just about all the dishes are too oily. During other mealtimes the place is very quite unless there’s a group for some seminar or meeting. In the evening, there’s a nice guitarist strumming out some tunes.

The room service menu looked promising, so I gambled on room service for dinner. They called back seven times, each time to say that a particular dish I ordered was unavailable. What they did not have: Angsio Tahu, Cah Baby Kailan, Sate Ayam, Nasi Timbel, Nasi Campur Bali, Nasi Goreng Anggrek and Ayam Kalasan. Not sure what else they did not have! Ended up with a simplistic Nasi Goreng Kampung, Brocoli Cah Jamur and an iced lemon tea. Tasty but nothing to shout about. Smallish portion for 70,000rp. 10% government tax (which is stated in the menu) applies, but you get 10% off for unknown reasons, so you end up getting 1% the price. What a lot of unnecessary complication!

Stupidly enough, I ordered room service for supper the next night, and waited more than an hour for a club sandwich. The toasted bread and the accompanying fries were both cold by the time they got to me.

Room: The rooms in the new wing have new fittings and furnishing. Bed is comfortable with clean and smooth cotton sheets. The room, bath and toilet are spotlessly clean. I guess that’s the most important part. My semi-apartment came with a separate sitting room and small kitchen. The kitchen cabinets are empty, and so is the fridge.

Rooms on lower floor will get some road noise, especially front facing rooms. Got woken up by a group doing aerobics at 6am. They were poolside, barely 10m from my window. When they finished at 7am, the vacuuming outside my room made sure I did not go back to sleep.

The pictures you see from their website are quite accurate, except that in my room, there’s no windows in the sitting room, there’s no flowers or plants, and the floor is carpeted. There’s one remote control for the 2 aircon units. There’s no remote control for the sitting room TV, and the bedroom TV is controlled from the bedside table. Channel surfers will suffer from sprained wrists. Above average choice of channels.

You get 2 complimentary bottles of drinking water a day. That’s not enough if there’s more than 1 person, especially if you’ll be spending more than just sleeping time in the hotel. Pricy to purchase in the hotel at 18,000rp per 380ml bottle, considering that tap water here is not safe to drink. For those unfamiliar with Indonesian hotels, to open a glass bottle, look around for a bottle cap opener, normally mounted wall nearby.

Overall: This hotel can be pretty good value for money especially if you have your own transport. I’d rate this hotel 2.5 star, although I reckon they fancy themselves 3 stars or even more. The infra structure is there, but the execution falls short.
