I really wouldn't bother with the rest of the options in Banaue if you're after a really friendly, value for money, comfortable, good night's sleep between treks, amazing rice-terrace views, tasty home-cooked food and good priced beer. We stayed 3 different times, and each time we were treated like returning family. There's a great atmosphere and laughter all day long! Went out for dinner in town the first night but wished we hadn't, it just didn't come close. You'll get many offers around town for treks, but we decided to arrange ours through Bea as there's no hard sell (I asked for options and we were left to decide) and had a great, funny and experienced guide (ask for Marvin), and an amazing stay in Batad, which is unmissable. In this terrain you really need someone you can trust and you get on with, it really makes all the difference. Bea, her sister and family of staff go way above and beyond, are honest, and staying here is really like being at home (with ancient rice terraces on your doorstep for breakfast). Well, what more can you ask for?!
Tip: bring plenty of pesos if you're not Filipino (unless things have changed in the last couple of months) - your only options are a Western Union transfer or a few hours' round trip by bus to an international ATM..More
