I'm writing this from the balcony of the Verandah Restaurant at Out of the Blue. The view across the bay to Luzon (in the far distance) is like a visual tranquiliser, washed down with a pure, sea breeze. Bliss (after Makati).
It's the onset of the rainy season but we decided to make the Philippines' Independance Day into a long weekend. And let's face it, when they come, the warm rains of Puerto Galera simply add to the charm of the place.
But this is supposed to be about the hotel.....for a minute there I was distracted by my wonderful surroundings. Anyway, Out of the Blue is easily the best place to stay in PG (unless you're a backpacker). Everything is immaculate and spotless, The beds are 5-star and the food and wine choices, though simple, have been very carefully thought through, I've been to much more expensive resorts in the Philippines but I've never been to one that's more relaxing.
Sure, you can venture out to the Point Bar at El Galeon or a little further to the "delights" of Sabang but.......just hanging around here, in a completely self-contained villa with good food, good wine and most imoportant of all, good company, beats the alternatives hands down.
Right......time for a glass of chilled New Zealand Saivignon Blanc!More
