Spent the labor day weekend here with my whole extended family. We rented both villas - Villa Sarimanok and Kasbah Remo. Each villa has its own swimming pool and cottage and a fully-equipped kitchen. Sarimanok is situated higher than Kasbah Remo but both has stunning views. Kasbah Remo has 4 rooms with a bathroom each and a provision for a 5th room in the attic. Sarimanok has 4 rooms, also with a bathroom in each room.

There's so many amazing things about our whole experience. Both villas provide such fantastic views of the sea and the mountain. It's so peaceful and relaxing to just hang out and breathe in the fresh air. They also have maid service in each villa and they could cook your meals for you. Just ask them to buy the ingredients from the nearby local market. There's also a nearby beach but the way there is through sets of staircases along the mountain where Punta Del Este is built. So it could be quite an adventure going back up.

The villas don't have AC so it was very hot and uncomfortable during the night inside the bedrooms at Sarimanok. Those of us who stayed at Kasbah Remo didn't have the same problem, so we surmise that Kasbah Remo has the better ventilation of the two. Also, there were many small, flying insects inside the rooms at Sarimanok at night because it was nearer to the forest than Kasbah Remo.

Overall, it was still such a wonderful experience and we would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Choose Kasbah Remo. It has better ventilation, better views, and no insects.

Went there with the whole family, the place it surprises me! It’s VERY BEAUTIFUL, a wonderful view anywhere you look, relaxing place and without AC available doesn’t matter, the air is cold especially at night even at summer time. Their staff is very accommodating, the food that they cook it’s very delicious. Can’t wait to go back again. A perfect place for the whole family and friends.

This place is amazing! We thought the No AC thing will be bad because it is summer but we were wrong. It was really refreshing! Cant wait to go back! One day is really not enough!

Although I really hate the boat ride, but still, I recommend this to everyone!

It's our family's second summer visit to Puerto Galera. We're all from Manila. Last year, we were turned off by the services a certain villa resort which i'd rather not say the name and told ourselves never again will we go back. I was a bit hesitant in going back to Puerto Galera fearing the same experience might happen even if we book at another place this time. But when I surfed the web and heard about this place, and after checking out all the positive comments here in TripAdvisor about Punta Del Este, all the praises don't go at par as when you actually experience at least an overnight's stay here at Kasbah Remo Villa in Punta Del Este. Excellent in all aspects: View, Amenities, Service...even the food!! Part of the package is having a maid and a cook that can do your errands. Even the yayas we brought along with us got to enjoy their vacay. My 7 year old niece celebrated her 8th birthday here at the kubo. We decorated the the kubo with lots of balloons and birthday bantings. She loved it. Even made a short speech after blowing her birthday candles which only her parents can translate...."I love my family. I love it here." The kids enjoyed the experience of having a mosquito net and didn't complain about not having an aircon in the room. However, maybe next time the owner could provide a dvd player so the kids can also watch cartoons. The cartoon channels on cable are snowy.

Hats off to Ate Mel, the resident cook. As long as you have fresh fish around, she can whip up a mean "kilawin" (fresh raw seafood in vinegar). I had to fight for my share after asking her to make another batch. I was able to bring some back to Manila. Yumm!

If you're a yogi, this is your place. Tip on doing your yoga, do it inside the house with closed glass doors overlooking the sea. The winds by the balcony can sometimes be too cold for comfort.

Even if the owner, Ms. Shyla, isn't around i know we were in good hands. Thank you very much Ms. Shyla for your birthday gift to my niece. It's a lovely gift of a discounted stay for me and my family.

We're going back before this summer ends.

Room Tip: Choose the Kasbah Remo Villa and get the suite room on the ground floor.

We went to Puerto Galera for the Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival and most of the hotels in Puerto Galera were fully booked. We were brought here by a friend who had stayed here on previous visits and it was definitely a great choice. We stayed in the 4 room pool villa with a great view of the ocean. It is a bit away from town but the hotel has a service vehicle that can bring you wherever you need to go. A very peaceful and quiet hideaway for families or groups.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
More than a hotel, Punta del Este is an authentic getaway. It gives you the chance to live your retreat or your holiday in genuine privacy, enjoying relative seclusion and yet having the benefit of proximity to essential services. From the top of the beautiful green promontory, nearly all around it, you are able to catch the awesome sight of the broad ocean with its islands, indented coast and sandy coves, as well as the view of the nearby beach and, behind it, the lowland villages imbedded in wide coconut groves. From a distance you can also watch the small town’s life. In just five minutes you get there easily, looking for shops and services. In the background of this unique community, the skies offer incessant scenes of marine clouds gathering above the jungle and engulfing inscrutable mountains. Beyond the landscape reside the mysteries of the hinterland and its indigenous people. Better than a suite, your accommodation is a large villa. Absolutely exclusive, highly private, hidden from onlookers, even clothing optional, it becomes your home for the duration of the stay. Staff and cook are at your service, striving to provide what you need, that it’d be food, drinks, information, means of transport, access to activities and wellness services. More private than a restaurant, we operate in self-catering mode. After planning the meals with you, the cook goes shopping. You may even join her to the market (bringing your food is possible, no corkage fee). She prepares and serves the meals. If you love cooking, she is your assistant. Alternatively, at our smaller bungalow or studios, you will be cooking for yourself. Anyway our staff does the cleaning in the morning and remains attentive to your needs, providing information and assistance for transportation, activities and wellness. Accommodation: + Two exclusive villas, the equivalent of complete suites, each with its own private amenities: swimming pool, kitchen, dedicated cook and staff, terraces, garden with “kubo” gazebo, path to the nearby beach. One of the villas takes 8 guests in 4 bedrooms with private bathroom, the other takes 10 guests in 4 bedrooms and a mezzanine, each with private bathroom. Approximately two minutes down to the beach. + Two studios, in the immediate vicinity of either villa, each offering room for 2 to 3 guests on a large double bed, plus a sofa bed or a folding bed if requested. Private bathroom and complete kitchen. Private balcony with sea and mountain view in one of them. Two minutes down to the beach for one and three for the other. + One seclusive “bahay-sudio”, or small bungalow, nested on a platform of the cliff, half-way down to the beach. It’s a small native style house with room for 2 or 3 guests on a king-size bed and a folding bed if requested. Private bathroom and complete kitchen. Private balcony terrace. One minute down to the beach. We assist our guests in finding and organizing any activity or excursion that they would fancy and is available in the area. We can arrange your transfer from the airport to the villas. Free shuttle from/to the arrival/departure pier in Puerto Galera. ... more   less
