My Expereicne at the Big Apple was outstanding. The entire staff was friendly and really made you feel very relaxed. From the boat ride to Sabang to the late night pool games, there was always a friendly face and someone watching to make sure you didn't need anything. The 2nd floor rooms were very comfortable, safe and quiet. Neil and his team offered excellent dive trips and great value. They make sure you are having a good time and getting to see all the creatures in the area. A stop at the Cafe after diving was always a fun way to start the evening. I look forward to my next trip back and would recommend the Big Apple to any divers in Asia as one of the best resorts in terms of value and friendly service.

Great place for divers and solo or buddy male travellers. Very welcome stuff and high-professional dive masters. Nice but simple rooms. Great 3m deep swimming pool for diving lessons. Restaurant and 6pm grill - the best I've tried so far in all Northern Mindoro (and I've tried a lot). Close to all the main nightlife locations and many pretty girls in bar area will surely keep your company.

Had a great time at Big Apple Resort and made some great friends there Male and Female. Niel (Sea Wang) & Peter (Pedro) who run the dive shop are great guys and as well as diving, Niel (Sea Wang) runs the Big Apple Cafe / Bar at night. Thats a great place to start the night out before heading off to one of the other bars or discos / agogo places there are some really cute girls to be found at the B.A. Cafe and the gogo's are full of beautiful Filipino girls. There is lots to do for the non diver as well Motor bike or 4 Wheel Buggy rental and some great places to visit waterfalls, Beaches, and Restaurants.
Big Apple also has its own Indian Restaurant which has delicious curries and other Indian dishes. there are also some good seafood restaurants near by. I have stayed in Puerto Galera many time at different places but now I always stay at big apple, they have the best prices for diving and the luxury rooms are well worth the extra Peso's they have a large swimming pool for trying out your dive gear and for late night swimming with the girls.

The big apple resort has a perfect location at the beach and situated next directly to the sabang village. The restaurant, bar and pool biljart are a friendly place to have fun enjoy a go meal. Staying at Big apple is really good place with clean and quite rooms and a nice atmosphere. the service is very friendly and accurate.
The dive shop is perfectly managed for every kind of diver. The equipement for rent is always uptodate and well maintained. The dive guides are friendly and does ther job excellent.
The dive guide also have a good knowlegde about the marine life and where you can find them which make finding sea animals finding for underwater photographers almost as requested on demand. You ask, the diveguide find and point them out..

We called and emailed the Big Apple to make a reservation, and they advised us to use their online booking service, which we did, including paying a 50% deposit. But when we showed up, they had no record of our booking and were completely full. They did refund our money and helped us find a different place to stay, after we showed them the confirmation emails we had received. The manager we spoke to was reasonably apologetic, but that really isn't good enough. We won't be back.

Dive_Big_Apple, Management Team at Big Apple Dive Resort, responded to this review, 2 February 2010
Unfortunately, this actually did happen. We try very hard to run our administration center efficiently and very rarely do we encounter these sorts of problems.

We updated our booking system shortly before Christmas 2009 to eliminate the double booking scenario that we encountered here and so far, it has worked as we have not seen that issue ever since.

We are undertaking a new project within our administration area as we speak that will eliminate reservation problems further. By increasing management/staff teamwork we hope to greatly increase our level of customer service to our valued guests and increase our levels of communication internally, benefitting the whole reservation process as a whole.

Our policy if we do encounter a reservation problem, is to look after our customers as best we can and see to their needs in a friendly and professional manner. Usually we are able to resolve any issues quickly and identify any areas of extra training that our staff may need, to try and avoid these situations in the future.

I have read a bad review on this resort in a tripadvisor forum so I wanted to write and give my experiences with my stay at Big Apple.

The diving: the resort has a full dive shop right on the property with great equipment and gear. I was most impressed with their wet suits because they all looked brand new. They do offer general diving and also dive courses. The cost for diving is 900 Php per dive (with gear included) which seems to be a good rate to me.

The room: I stayed in the suite room for 2,000 Php per night. Had great a/c, comfortable chairs in the room for relaxing and a nice bathroom. The shower was a hand held unit with an electric hot water heater. I always had plenty of hot water but water volume was not the best. Lots of closet space for your clothes. The negative was the bed matress. Your standard Philippines thin foam mattress with a wood base. Not the most comfy. The room did have a patio area with a big papasan chair. A nice place to relax and watch the pool area.

The pool: I thought the pool was great. Warm water and they did maintenance on it almost daily. vacume, net, chlorine...etc. The water was clear and I went swimming daily.

Restaurant: A good place to eat. Open 24 hours, they do play music but the area with the pool tables has the speakers so if you don't want to hear the loud music, just sit in the other section and you will be fine. Breakfast is good, tocino is great. Pancit bihon is also very good. Best item on the menu is the pizza. Problem is price. Very expensive. You can get good quality food for about 1/2 the price if you go to Small Shot or Relax. Stay away from their pina coladas and the apple pie...not very good.
