“Best place to stay in Mindoro”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2013

We loved that resort. All the staff was very helpfull and professional. The location is perfect in a quiet area but not far from White Beach. Thanks to Lorain, Isabelle, Mira and Angie. Giorgio, the owner is also very nice. My friend dived there with Ermanno, the dive master and he loved it. He told me the diving spots are great ! It is so nice it is really difficult to leave the place. I will definitively come back !!!!

Worst beach in Puerto Galera characterized by relinquished or burned down resorts, two noisy building sites and a dirty beach.

Left immediately, even forfeiting my deposit. Staff was helpful to get me to another place.

I have stayed in many hotels in this area and at the other nearby beaches. I found the road coming in to El Canonero is rough but its worth the trip over hill to find a beautiful and relaxing ressort.
It is not expensive and the rooms are comfortable. It was clean and smell good with all the comfort with hot shower, tv, personal ref, fan and aircon. It was really cute inside. Outside the view was great with nice big swimming pool, nice view of the beach very relaxing.
Foods in the restaurant was great, nice a variety foods. All highly recommend, especially the " four season pizza, many choice of Italian pasta, different kinds of fresh seafoods and more voracious apetite ". There's a nice bar area nearby the swimming pool, over looking to the ocean. The service was great. The staff's are friendly, Especially the 3 girls in the bar (Loraine, Angie, Mira).
I and my partner done a diving with Ermanno (the diving instructor). Activities also we done like " Island hopping, Kayaking, Water falls and its realy amazing places. Over all i will recommend this ressort to friends, families and travelers.

Thank's Georgio (owner) and the staff of EL CANONERO.. God Bless you all..!!!

I’m Dutch and I stayed at El Canonero Diving Resort the first days of January for 6 days with my italian girl friend and 4 friends 2 Italian and 2 Filipinos and it was such a great experience.
The place, the fantastic the panorama from the room was amazing, really a little slice of paradise!!!
So we was satisfied in choosing that hotel. It is not expensive and we stay very comfortable, the rooms was clean and smell good with all the comfort not only air-con but hot water, fan, personal ref and free amenities and with nice looking inside, for the pleasant architecture of the wall and the refined insertion of the rattan and bamboo and outside for the great, nice view of the beach the cliff and the very nice big swimming pool .
Foods was great, they do an incredible pizza and many good choice of Italian pasta and for the variety of fish in many different way and also some very unusual by international receipts great Chevice and fillet muniere stile. In the Restaurant and in the bar ( in a fantastic place near the sea ) the service was friendly and warm, Mira and Loraine was always very careful and they provide us more than we was expecting.
We enjoy kayaking reaching some beach uncontaminated, where you don’t find anyone and we also went up along a small river with an amazing incredible nature all around.
Our friend did Diving with Ermanno, the owner dive Instructor, we join them on the boat, a nice big traditional banka adapted for the Diving, and we enjoy the transfer along the coast until the dive sites of Puerto Galera. My friend was enthusiastic for the incredible dives and they did encounter with big pelagic fish in the site of Ibo reef, a deep dive in the bleu where grow from the abyss a big coral pinnacle, just in front the Resort.
What I especially like at this hotel, is the atmosphere, sitting for dinner at few meter from the sea with a warm lamp on the table was really enchanting , or to stay together around the bar in every hour of the day enjoying the sea breeze and chatting with the nice staff or with the international guests…. This is really a hotel where you feel comfortable and like at home.

Our room was very very small and smells dirty.
Shower gives only very very liittle water
They dont clean up the room.
Incredible for €63,00 /$80,00 excluding breakfast
Such a kind of room should be cost no more than $15,00!

We had an alright time here. Part of it was because I got food poisoning, but I'm not sure if I got it at our resort or the one next door.
It seems like with every pro there was a con.

Restaurant: The menu was so large, but most of the items were unavailable. About 5 minutes after ordering, the girl would come back to tell us they were out. This happened six or seven times during our stay. Also whoever the chef was was terrible. Even my eggs were messed up. It was also difficult to get anyone's attention to order food if you were not sitting at the bar.

Location: It's out of the way so that's relaxing. However, it is difficult to get in and out. There is an incredibly crazy hill getting in and out, and the road is really messed up. We asked the resort owner for help getting out, and he said they don't do that and he didn't know what we should do. What? One of the girls set it up for us because she knew a guy who drove a tricycle.

Room: At first I thought the room was cute, but with food poisoning the lack of privacy in the bathroom area sucked. Not very romantic. A couple of large bugs got in the room, and there were always ants running around. The air conditioner stopped working, and the owner was going to have someone fix it, but he never did. The fan ended up being fine because it was cooler, but otherwise it would have been terrible. The mattress looks thin, but it was fine. There weren't enough blankets, and two of the four pillows were super lumpy. Also, there was no housekeeping whil we were there.

Beach: The beach was fine. We didn't swim because it was stormy, though. We walked along, and there was a lot of rocks, coral, and shells on the beach.

It was okay. Really, we were excited to get out of there and go somewhere else. I'm sure other people have had different experiences, but for us it wasn't great.
