To start with, the place is insanely expensive for Puerto Galera so we were expecting rooms of above average quality. Instead, we got really old rooms that were well below the standard of a cheap hostel. It really was terrible value.

We also had the misfortune to stay a busy weekend over Easter. We were told beforehand that the place was booked out and we would be required to change rooms. We were OK with that when we booked but then the staff were very impatient to get us out of our rooms, yet slow to get us into the new room each time we moved and there didn't seem to be any acknowledgement that moving rooms was a hassle on what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday. So while we were expecting to be moved, the manner in which it was done made it way more painful than it needed to be.

They also had a very annoying no outside guest policy for the beach. This was frustrating as, despite saying the hotel was fully booked, the hotel beach and bar was mostly desterted the entire time we were there. We invited 2 of our friends that were travelling with us but staying at a different hotel for a drink at the bar before we went to dinner together but they were refused entry and service at the bar. This was frustrating as we were pretty much the only people there and the 2 extra people would have made absolutely no difference to the very few other guests that were around. Also, the way in which they were not allowed in was quite rude and made us, who were guests at the hotel, feel unwelcome ourselves. Had it been busy and my friends were taking away sunlounges from paying guests I would understand. But this was not the case.

Finally, on our final day we were woken up at 5am as my friend was getting the early boat back to the mainland. This was fine, although we were woken much earlier than we had requested. However, about 10 minutes later they were banging on our door again demanding payment and settlement of the bill. We told them that I would be paying when I checked out later (I was on a later boat/flight). The girl initially said ok and went away but then came back again another 15 minutes after that demanding the bill be settled then. We again explained I would be settling the bill later when I checked out. This time she listened to us and I was able to settle the bill at a more reasonable hour but being woken 3 times before 6am in such a rude way was a very unpleasant end to what had already been a below average stay.

The one positive of this place is that the beach it is on is quite nice.

We were on a unplanned honeymoon trip me and my beloved wife. On the day of our arrival, at dinner time, we chatted with one who seems to be the manager there. In the flow of convo, we told him we were newly weds on honeymoon trip. The day after, we had the surprise to see that they made the room special for us after housekeeping. They added a lot of flowers and a personalized letter for us. They did that all of their own, without asking anything. The staff is always there if you need anything like umbrella or mosquito coil. No need to ask, its always on their own. The beach is very quiet, far from the noisy and partying White Beach area. Being foreigner, I appreciated the peace of mind of not being harassed by vendors on the beach. The only downside is that if you want to buy anything, its far from market area.

Amazing service from hotel staff, You don't even need to ask or look for them. They're always around checking what you need like putting the umbrellas on your daybeds when it starts to drizzle. I love the quietness of the beach and that they have lots of sun loungers. The only thing i don't like is that the price is way too expensive for a basic room at old wing. You are basically paying triple for the normal Puerto Galera price. The power kept going off also, wifi was barely working inside the room, and the construction noise starts really early. It was really annoying to hear it everyday. The food is ok a bit expensive for what it taste.

Room Tip: Tip: Luca's Cucina Italiana and Lodge on the other side of the beach serves delicious italian food.

My wife and I recently spent a long weekend at Sunset @ Aninuan Beach Resort. The room was nice with a complete wall of windows and a deck looking out over the ocean. The staff are very attentive and helpful. The restaurant served slightly overpriced meals that mostly looked like they came out of a can. Despite the room price being fairly high, you had to pay for all the bottles of water in the room and wifi was only available in a small area of the restaurant / bar.

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces the ocean. The cheaper rooms are behind the restaurant.
