Having stayed in 4 different properties in El Nido, I can certainly say that this was by far the worst! We made a stupid mistake pre paying for 2 nights in a fan room. While the room didn't look to bad during the day, sleeping became unbearable without AC and due to lack of breeze. Also, there was constant "dust" coming down from the ceiling (wood worm activity?) which was pretty annoying...the restrooms can only be considered a joke! Two showers (buckets) and two toilets (without seat and toilet paper has to be bought at the reception) for way too many people.
We moved to an AC room during the night and left the next morning!

This is the bottom of the barrel as far as budget accommodations go. The showers consist of buckets and a cup to get yourself wet and rinse off. The toilets are the same, you use a cup to flush them. They smell absolutely awful and there are far too many people in this hostel to have only two seriously stinky bathrooms. The electricity goes off at 6 am which would be fine except that it is extremely loud - garbage trucks, people snoring, roosters, everything. The fan is your only chance at drowning out the noise. My bed was filled with ants and I had to spray bug spray before I went to bed each night. The place overall is very depressing, unfriendly, and lacks any sense of character or community feel that you find in other places. My friends and I were happy to leave.

The only redeeming quality is the nice view.

We were a group of 16 pax and we stayed at El Nido Sands Inn for 2 nights. I booked our group in advance c/o Ms. Letty who manages the bookings. She was kind enough to offer us her help in getting us van transfers (from Puerto Princesa) and the island hopping tour as well. The double room (aircon) was simple but comfortable and clean. We got the room just in front of the balcony which is literally over the sea, so the waves were a bit distracting and quite loud actually. Very relaxing though when you hang out there in the morning, you could see the mountain of lime stone and the clear water. I just wish they have more bathroom and toilet available. We cooked breakfast in their kitchen, they let you use everything, but you will pay Php100 for the use of the LPG. Since we were 16 in the group, this is quite reasonable enough. All in all, if you;re in a budget, El Nido Sands Inn is perfect for you.

Room Tip: If you're traveling as a couple, ask for the room in the ground floor by the lobby, away from th...

This great value popular place is unsurprisingly not mentioned in LP guide.
The rooms, most mostly at 550 pesos with a double bed, not ensuite are all in the 2nd level with large windows(3 full size, not sliding), most rooms are side view to the beach making it less noisy from the waves but you can hangout in its large balcony facing the sea, probably the best sea view perspective in this part of El Nido.
The whole floorings are in comfortable wood.
Wi-fi is great and there have own electric generator.
The location is great, just nearby is the 1 and only internet cafe that opens until 1 am and the Asylum Bar(1 and only disco in El Nido).
The only downside is they dont provide toilet paper(15 pesos aroll) a carpet for you to undust your feet but you can request them to sweep your room anytime.

Room Tip: Room no. 3, a corner room that faces the sea and balcony and have even more windows for the same pri...

My partner and I stumbled across the Sands Inn, when many others were booked out and the owner actually asked us whether we needed a room. We only paid 500 Pesos a night for a double room, fan, no en-suite. It was basic but clean and it's got a nice balcony over the ocean. Sometimes when the tide was high, we could feel the waves bashing against the walls of the building. The shared bathroom is also very basic, the toilet hasn't got a toilet seat but at least a flush. There is no toilet paper supplied but you can purchase this from the shop across. The shower was more dripping than flowing but there were bucket and scoop supplied. Quite efficient! We had free Wi-Fi but don't forget El Nido often hasn't got electricity. The Sands Inn seems to supply electricity how they feel.
This place is great for the budget traveler! We ended up staying 5 nights and it was a blast after coming from Manila's "Friendly's backpacker".
Generally I'd recommend not to book in advance. There are so many places to choose from when you get there and most seem pretty nice.
