nicest but not the most expensive. Here they have real food with really good quality. Service is exceptional. If you book with them they can also pick you up. Price is higher than in other restaurants but affordable.

I was in El Nido with friends and this is the only place to stay! It is clean, the lands are well cared for, and the staff is so friendly and kind. The restaurant was the only place we ate our meals because, it's just the best. Freshest and most delicious on the island for sure. We loved chatting with our waitresses and getting to know them. They are so hard working and go above and beyond to make you comfortable. We booked the Executive tour through the front office. Definitely book your tours through the office because it's a small group and the guides: Mel, Al, and Tato are so fun. The lunch they make you is amazing as well!! The sunsets at Cadlao are the best on the island, we looked forward to it all day.
The room was nice, clean and well kept. We were chilly at night because there are no blankets, just sheets, but you can ask for extra. Great pool and lounge chairs. The resort will take you into town on their tricycle anytime you want, we did once, but preferred to stay at the resort!

We came to Cadlao after having been in very basic accommodations in Coron for 3 nights, then we had been on an expedition with Tao Philippines for 5 days. Our first night in El Nido, we crashed at a very basic but clean and nice place next door to the ArtCafe called "Aqua." But upon reflection, we decided that between our touring in Coron and our AMAZING expedition with Tao, we had already seen the best of the best and were ready to just relax for a few days.

So we splurged on the Cadlao Resort. It was completely amazing! The food is great, the views are breathtaking, the pool is MAGNIFICENT! We ended up staying here for 4 nights. Although it's a bit of a hike from town, we really enjoyed the walk and would walk in 2-3x a day (it's about 1.5 miles each way, 3 miles round trip). It's a beautiful walk around the beach road out of town, past a local cemetery and then past a community children's organization.

Other than walking to town for shopping or dinner, we didn't do much. A few massages at the onsite massage hut were AMAZING. And one day we rented motorbikes from the little village next door (between Cadlao and the cemetery), and we went exploring the north island. We skipped Nacpan, because it is already overcrowded and touristy... But we went further north to a place called Duli Beach. Finding it (and riding across the rough roads and the jungle mountain dirt trails) were adventure enough! When we got there, we were the only ones on this HUGE beautiful beach. There are no services here, no food or drink... So if you try this adventure, pack your own. There are plenty of places to buy gasoline on the side of the road (in Coke bottles).

The other adventurous thing we did was climbing Taraw Cliff. It was a really cool thing to do, and I'm glad we did it. But it was a grueling climb (and all of us are in good shape).

We absolutely loved El Nido, it's a cute backpacker town with a great vibe. And staying at Cadlao added luxury to our experience there! Highly recommend!

It's El Nido so I won't wax on about how fabulous that is - just by coming here, or planning to, you've made the right decision.

What sets Cadlau resort apart for me is:

Rooms are simple chalet-style. Good cotton sheets, good choice of pillows, nice little balcony. It's not flashy but it's done well, and little touches like proper linen napkins at the restaurant add those little touches.

Breakfast - a simple set menu (included in the room rate) of dishes like omelette, delicious muesli, fresh fruit, pancakes. The coffee is great. The bread us exceptional- somewhere between a ciabatta and a French baguette. Get the Cadlau salad and add avocado to go with the mango, it's so very healthy (to offset all the bread ).

The pool - big enough, incredible views overlooking the sea and Cadlau island. Grab a drink and have sundowners in the pool.

Hammocks conveniently nestled between the trees, perfect for snoozing or reading, bit of both...

The lack of children. The resort doesn't really cater to them, more if a couples' place ( but they were incredibly sweet/pitying to a solo traveller with not too many "ma'am where's your husband?" comments!)

Location wise, Cadlau is on Calaan beach, a 10 min stroll round the bay to El Nido town proper. To me this is perfect, close enough to go in and out for boat tours and dinner, but when you round that corner you can't even hear the screeching karaoke. And the hotel has a free tricycle which will take you to the edge of El Nido beach and pick you up again, until 10pm. If you're walking, bring a torch.

So if backpacking and staying in the cheap hostels in town isn't your thing, but you wince at the prospect if paying $500+ per night to stay at the El Nido official resorts, this is the answer. I will recommend this place to everyone and would definitely go back, with my family, friends or a hypothetical future husband. It's really is great and I was sad to leave this morning.

We went for dinner here both nights we stayed in El Nido and I guess the fact that we came back again speaks for itself.. the food was delicious! I can recommend the seafood curry to share and the mango daiquiri, so good!
