“Beautiful location, good kitesurfing, staff couldn't do more to help”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

We came here for 5 days at the end of our honeymoon travelling around the Philippines and it was a beautiful end to a fantastic trip.

The kitesurfing was good, we even got to kite in a 'typhoon' technically which was definitely on the bucket list! Kit hire was easy and we only paid for the time we used the kit for. They also had lots of other toys for light wind days including SUP's and mountain bikes - a trip exploring the local village is a must.

Highly recommended! Would go back :-)

Room Tip: All rooms seemed equally private and well equipped.

On the positive side,
- The place and the beach are beautiful and …quiet
- The cottages are quite comfortable (single beds in family cottages however ..unusual)
- The staff is extremely nice (as everywhere in the Philippines in fact)
- The food is good
We however left that resort after three days with a somehow mitigated feeling and would have been happier to stay there only 2 days to spend more time in other resorts in Palawan that we preferred:
- If you don’t go there to do kite surfing (an ideal place to do so) , there is strictly nothing to do but a 10 km biking tour to another beach with a small typical beach restaurant with very good seafood 5 times less expensive than in the resort
- And owners clearly take advantage of their isolation to overcharge everything: you even have to pay for a bike rental if you use the resort bikes!
- Food is too expensive and the menu is a 100% Spanish menu, which is not what you expect to find in Philippines. As an anectodical illustration, a glass of sangria will cost you 350PhP, i.e. more than what you would pay in Barcelona for it while a beer in another luxury resort in Palawan will cost you less than 100PhP (50 PhP in a local bar…)

The QI Palawan is an excellent place to start your vacation in a relaxed way, or in the middle of your vacation for a nice break from the stress of being in a foreign country, or to end your vacation in tranquility. This place is perfect for families friends and couples who just want to have a "get away" holiday as well. The Isolated location of the hotel makes it a cozy and charming haven, and the owners are very thoughtful and attentive to your possible needs like transportation and activities, organizing it all for you. The place is well thought, rooms are comfortable, good food (mostly european), enjoyable staff and many entertainments that will keep you from boredom. These things make you feel very much at home. My only regret is not staying longer then 3 nights ( knowing you have quite a travel from puerto princessa) and my advice to anyone who wishes to go there would be to plan enough money since your every move would cost you a bit, and more importantly cash since there are no ATMs.
Again, I recommend it to people who want to relax not for people who want to visit.

I went to Qi Palawan for kiteboarding, but when the wind did not emerge I had a wonderful stay in a tasteful resort in a beautiful location.

The rooms are perfect, the staff caring, the restaurant with enough choices to keep you happy for weeks. The grounds and the beach were lovely, without giving you that phony 5-Star feeling.

I left Qi and went to Boracay. Big mistake.

We stayed for 3 nights at this incredibly nicely situated resort - this is the perfect remote hide away where you don't have to set something aside. The property just opened recently, it is family run and you feel that a lot of dedication care for details have been put into this, without obviously loosing the big picture. The layout of the bungalows are well though through and very convenient. We went there with our 18month old daughter and another family with two children, the property is huge enough to have privacy as a couple or with a family. Staff pays a very high level of attention, is very friendly and is always ready to go the extra mile.
Even though the place is remote - there are some very interesting and nice activities to do either on the property or just around the corner, which Qi Palawan is very friendly to help organizing and suggesting flexible and tailor made programs with reasonable prices.
To get there is a bit of a journey - but this part of the package and makes the atmosphere special and the journey an adventure.

I seldom write reviews on tripadvisor, but Qi is such an amazing spot after such a huge amount of effort that Bettina and her huband deserve to be fully booked!

The quality of the cottages is up there with the best in South African safari style accommodation (if you've been on safari) - and in the same league as the El Nido Pangalasian resort accommodation that we stayed in later in the trip (which is 4 x as expensive). Dark solid wood furniture, spotlessly clean, indoor / outdoor bathrooms). And all brand new.

The beach is empty and good for kitesurfing if windy (note that El Nido resorts away from the coast - i.e. all the ones on the islands - are also windy though, so the difference at Qi is that the beach is wide & deserted - great for learning. But if you just want to chill, the place is perfect for that too (when we stayed 2 cottages of 7 had budding kitesurfers in them...this is a top quality resort, not a kitesurf camp!).

Finally, Bettina's husbands Catalan background comes through in the food. Gambas Pil Pil highly recommended!

We'll be back. We just hope it won't be booked up all the time when we try to!
