“Honeymoon paradise”
Reviewed 20 December 2013

We want to thank El Nido Miniloc Island for giving us the most beautiful honeymoon experience. From the red carpet entry to the plane, to the musicians greeting us at the airport and the resort, and then being dwarfed by the incredible limestone cliffs, massive jackfish in the clear water, and the stunning water cottages, this place is just breathtaking. The snorkelling and fish life is world class. Imagine being in a tropical aquarium. Dropping off the dock in front of the resort, you are faced with a 'wall of fish' and then 100's of other colourful fish, starfish, corals, and crystal clear water. Unbelievable. The staff are so friendly, always smiling and happy. The food was delicious- so fresh and healthy, with a wide range of different cultural culinary choices. The activities scheduled to the different islands, lagoons were fabulous. Our private dinner was like an experience out of the 'The Bachelor' or other romantic hollywood movie/show. It didn't feel real! We just loved the fact that this island didn't feel 'hotel-resort' like, and fell in love with it. The massages in the water cottage was just idyllic as well. The drinks were very reasonably priced for a resort, and the bartender makes great cocktails. It does seem expensive, but is totally worth it, and is an experience you will never forget. Thankyou El Nido.

Room Tip: Get a water cottage!

The experience starts at the ITI terminal in Manila. Although the staff quality in Manila is not comparable to that of the Resort, they still try to facilitate the process as far as they can. Once you land in El Nido, the service is really stunning. The welcome extended at the hotel is exceptional and the resort probably has more than 1 staff per guest even when the hotel is full. The quality of water used for showers is probably not very good but this is in line with the establishment's green policy.

The people who manage this resort certainly make sure that the staff is trained to cater to guests' needs. From the greeters to the servers to the maintenance to the dive shop, all are lovely and helpful. The activity coordinator is always on hand to make sure guests understand their options and to make whatever arrangements that can be made. The snorkeling around the resort is great and one can also kayak to Big or Small Lagoon or other beaches and snorkel. Finding a private beach, with all the day trips from El Nido and the lunch and dinner trips from the resorts, can be a challenge, but we managed in kayaks to avoid the worst of this. Diving was beautiful and the dive master was superb. We had booked through an agent and did not find out that the resort was inclusive of all meals until we arrived. This is a big downer for us. We never book such a resort ourselves and we know that this added to the cost. There really should be an option for just breakfast inclusion, as at all other resorts we visited. A la carte lunch and dinner should be an option, as in other resorts. The other issue was the exorbitant price of wine and beer compared to every other resort on all the other islands we visited. Beer and wine were three times more than anywhere else making it ridiculously expensive. Transport here was no more difficult than in other places so we did not understand why this was so. All in all, with respect to overall costs vs. other resorts on other islands, we did not feel the price of the resort was good value: everywhere else we stayed, the staff are attentive and helpful and the water is magical.

Miniloc is a scenic resort, built on a secluded island in Palawan. The quaint resort is surrounded by crystal clear water. The rooms are clean but not big and good for couples. The entire resort is eco-friendly. The food is awesome and the staff is service oriented. The theme is some what like club med as all activities such as snorkelling and island hopping is free. The transfer in and out of the resort is by water boats only. The place is recommended only to those who are looking to relax and would like to be away from pubs and nightlife.

My wife and I went to el nido miniloc 1 week after typhoon haiyan hit The Philippines (our heart and pray go with the people who were badly affected by the typhoon). We had almost postponed the trip but a call and an email to el nido confirmed that the resort has not been affected and thus decided to go. We glad we did and spent 5 days at the resort. The weather during the trip was clear, the sea was a bit rough in some areas due to rather strong wind, but generally ok.
The resort was great, nothing fancy, but we kind a like the natural surrounding/athmosphere it has. The food was excellent, selection was good to, mix of local cuisine and international food, while grilled seafood was almost always present.
The best part about the hotel, in our view, is the island hoping to either snorkle, dive, watch the sun set, or just chill to the resorts nice beach clubs (the group has two and both were just very nice). There are so many Islands around the resorts and they would take you to many different spots. We went snorkling and kayaking and then chilling every day. And these activities were all incluse, unlike in most resorts where you have to pay extra.
Service, we would say was top notch. The guest relation officer would ask us which activities we wanted to join every day, while the tour guides for all the day trips were very knowledgeable and very friendly too.
We also glad we stayed at miniloc. Lagen was bigger, but did not look natural to us, though it did have better facilitites. But the sea around Lagen was rougher and looked too dangerous to do kayaking around.

Miniloc Island is a truly beautiful place and the El Nido resort lived up to the location.

We had one of the overwater cottages and it was a delight to go to sleep listening to the water lapping below and to wake up to a wonderful view across the bay.

The snorkelling in the lagoon in front of the resort is great - made even better by the daily appearance of giant trevally who are fed from the jetty and a large school of small fish (Oxeyes?) who appear to be permanently located off the end of the jetty.

We had a special celebration for two of our party and booked a private dinner for five at the Big Lagoon beach. It was really special - the staff decorated the table for the occasion, and the food and wine service was very good, even though everything had come by speedboat from the resort.

The excursions from Miniloc are great also - Big Lagoon and Small Lagoon are must-see's and lunch at the Beach Club is also great. Plus there's diving and snorkelling trips to be had.

The only thing that was slightly less than excellent was the food. It's included in the tarriff (which is good) but the buffet was a bit average in quality and selection.

The staff, on the other hand, were outstanding; friendly and very helpful.

We had a great time and would happily go back again.

We were fortunate to have perfect weather the whole time which made it even better, the service was amazing, as soon as you got on the boat heading the island everything felt like (and was) organised. We did most of the activities and found Miniloc Island to be very central to everything, we were asked the night prior what activities we would like to book, everyone addressed you by your first name, the guides were very helpful and knowledgeable, there were many different activities to do or you could just sit back and watch the day go by. The snorkelling was just off the jetty, it gave you something to do and see and to cool off at the same time. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to relax as well as do things in a relaxing way.

Room Tip: Don't take the cottage rooms down the back, there is a lack of water pressure and is annoying cl...
