Neither the city street nor the 70m to the gate and guard station should concern you. Dolce Vita Hotel is a very, very fine property with an equally fine staff. It’s five minutes to the airport with transportation provided to and from. And more generally speaking, the location is very good and convenient to the things to do. It has an on premise tour business as well.
The old architectural style is beautiful. The rooms are large and furnished nicely. The bed, linens and pillows were fine. Check out the Italian-made toilet, separate bidet and pedestal lavatory with their gold trim and ribbed design. The downstairs rooms have seating areas outside in the shade. The grounds are landscaped superbly. The pool is being refurbished as of 29 May 2019 but will be grand upon re-opening. It is deep too; situated adjacent to the outdoor restaurant. Wifi was generally good after I located the best connection for my room. A/C was good. Breakfast was from a set menu with choices of Continental, American and Philippine.
Suggestions to management: 1) a longer, more stylish shower curtain that betters controls the water intrusion on the bath floor; b) an in-room safe (which I did not see in my room.)
The Dolce Vita had character and old world class. I really liked it and it will be at the top of my list in Puerta Princesa when I return.
