The service at A&A was great~ always willing to go out of their way to help you out by setting up tours or suggesting restaurants.
Very convenient with tricycle drivers right outside ready to take you anywhere: our driver took care of us all week and had the best suggestions for tour groups, restaurants and shopping.

Make sure you request a double bed and a window if you want it~ most of their rooms have single beds and are located in the center of the giant building so no windows.

Overall though- great place to stay for a really affordable price.

Chose to stay at this hotel on our Puerto Princesa trip because after careful research and considering the reviews here on TA, I thought that we would be saving on time, money & effort by availing of their tour packages. I am so glad to have been right.

It was a good indication that the staff were prompt in replying to e-mail inquiries, patient and polite in answering queries, and accommodating. Had a last minute (1 week before) change of schedule and my request to have a city tour in the morning instead of in the afternoon was granted. And because our flight out of Puerto Princesa was late in the afternoon, we requested a late check-out which was readily approved.

Upon our arrival at the airport, one of the hotel’s drivers was already waiting with a sign bearing our name. He quickly assisted us with our luggage and brought us to the hotel in the hotel’s new van. Checking-in was no trouble with us enjoying welcome drinks (pineapple juice) and hubby commenting they should have been called welcome shots because one could really drink it all in a gulp. The hotel accepts all major credit cards as payment.

Going to our room felt like being in a building instead of a hotel. The lobby of our room floor was bare and the hallway leading to the rooms were narrow.

I was a bit disappointed when I saw our room. It was not well-lit and the air conditioner did not cool it quickly enough. Otherwise, it was well worth its price. It was spacious and almost perfectly clean (saw a 1 square cm clump of dust). I did not appreciate the wooden-looking tile floors at first but realized its importance when we got back from the Honda Bay tour wet.

There was a good-sized cabinet in our room. It contained the safe that was big enough for a laptop or two, a hair dryer, and some wooden hangers. There was also a refrigerator containing some basic mini bar items and on top of which was some instant noodles and chips for a reasonable price. Beside the refrigerator was a table that had the complimentary coffee and tea-making items as well as the complimentary bottled water. 2 pairs of disposable slippers were provided. Part of the package was a complimentary fruit basket with an adequate selection of tropical fruits we didn’t get to eat at all because everywhere we ate in Puerto Princesa, the same fruits were served as desert.

There was an LCD TV with lots of cable channels in the room but I wish it was bigger because the room was quite big and the bed a bit distant from it.

Moreover, as there was no luggage rack, we used the two chairs provided to prop up our luggage instead. It was also nice to have a long mirror in the room.

My computer showed the 3 Wi-Fi networks of the hotel but all had no signal in our room. 2 computers with slow internet are provided for free at the ground floor restaurant though. Also, there were 2 electrical sockets for charging phones and gadgets.

Our room’s door is accessed by a key-card lock. It had a doorbell one could choose to turn off. However, it had no peephole so had to open the door to see who was ringing. A solid kind of a sort of chain lock gave security in opening the door to check.

The bed was large but did not have good sleep on it because the 4 pillows provided were small and the bed would squeak whenever we moved. Nevertheless, the sheets were clean.

As for the bathroom, it did not look nice. It felt cramped and there was a mismatch of everything in it. The tiles looked unclean because of the poor lighting and the bad choice of tile colors.

We really liked having a window in our room but the downside to it is that all the noise from the highway fronting the hotel could be heard even at the wee hours of the morning, although it was muted and was not so much of a bother, except for once when a woman was shouting as if in a fight with someone.

The breakfast buffet was ok. There was a fair selection of food. Everyday there was garlic rice and eggs. There was also cereal and bread. The 2 choices of fruit juice were not fresh so we would always ask for water. As for the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, the food was not exceptional but was always fresh and tasted ok. The staff there were also friendly, efficient and attentive.

When we needed assistance with the hot water in the bathroom and some ice for the food we had bought, assistance by the staff was quick and our concerns were readily addressed.

All in all we would consider staying at this hotel should we visit Puerto Princesa again. It offers good value for money and the staff are well-trained.

Stayed here just one night, after my Manila-bound flight was canceled (a Cebu Pacific plane veered off the runway and damaged some runway lights ... the airport was closed, and my PAL flight had to be rescheduled for the next morning).

Reception at the A&A hotel was friendly. Hospitable. The manager rounded up his staff (it was close to midnight when we checked in) to set up an impromptu late night buffet. Didn't try the food that night, but the breakfast next morning was satisfactory. Tiny coffee shop, though, opening up straight into the side street.

I was given room 313. The standard double bed room was very much on the spartan side, quite clean, typical of a budget hotel, but lighted quite brightly (which I approve) and painted perhaps too colorfully in orange and yellow shades. Bed and pillows gave me a slight sinking feeling, but adequate for one night. Easy to fall from the bed, because it sagged to one side.

The floor-to-ceiling curtains covering one whole side of the room were very deceptive ---- instead of hiding a window, they hid a plain yellow wall! So don't expect to get a room with a view (per the floor plan, many rooms seem to be windowless). Room seemed clean and fairly new, although I didn't like the fact that the floor of the shower area was still wet. Unlike the cheerfully bright room, the bathroom was on the dark side.

Adequate supplies of drinking water in the room, plus coffee maker. (Good!) Bedside drawers were flimsy ---- one pull and the drawer almost fell to the ground. (Not so good.) The paper slippers were perhaps the flimsiest I've ever been given at any hotel, not very useful --- but, hey, I didn't really expect too much from a budget hotel.

Very limited TV channel selection. Did not try the internet facilities.

Much easier to walk up and down the stairs (to a third floor room) than take the rather slow elevator, but then the hotel seemed to be full with stranded passengers as well as a group of doctors and/or hospital staff in town for a medical mission.

All in all, the experience was fine, and my short stay was satisfactory. I can't however imagine staying several days in a windowless room .... do ask for a room with a window if you could. I don't know how much the room cost (the airline paid for the hotel accommodations), but I imagine the rates must be reasonable.

And, yes, thanks to the hotel staff for a friendly stay.

We were just excited to be going somewhere new and different in the Philippines. We were happy that we went to Palawan even if it was raining the day we arrived. The hotel was great. We found out that it was just a year old.

Pros: convenient from the airport. close to mall and markets. close to restaurants. Great breakfast every morning. Great Chinese restaurant in the hotel.

cons: On a busy street so it gets kind of noisy. No maid service during the days we stayed there. No hot water at all, which was okay except it was just freezing cold water that came out of the tap. Bed was kind of lumpy

Overall, it was a great hotel. Staff was very friendly and courteous.
