“Nice restaurant to visit while in Puerto Princesa.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

We were able to secure a table at Kalui because of an invite from a group of ladies from Iloilo whom we met early that day during our Honda Bay Tour. That is if we only want since we don't have a prior reservation.

The place is native with a modern twist. Interior design is great, love their collection of paintings. Once inside, you will are asked if you have prior reservation then you will be requested to remove your footwear and place it in the cabinet provided before you are guided to your table.

The wooden floor is really shiny and not much of dirt that you can feel while walking barefoot.

I was still full so we only ordered Seafood Sisig and shakes. The order was good for two, so just enough for us. The food tastes good and price is reasonable. Part of the set meal was a dessert of fruit mix of banana, watermelon and papaya sprinkled with muscovado sugar in a young coconut shell.

Overall, food and shakes were delicious. Interior design is quite impressive and I really love the paintings. The comfort room's interior is also nice. Once inside, it seems you're in a room for relaxation (literally, lol). You don't have to line up in queue just in case it's full, as there are chairs to sit down while waiting for your turn.

You have to book and reserve your table if you want no hassle otherwise, you have to be on the waiting list.

“Our best restaurant on the Philippines”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

Our Taxi Driver made this recommendation and it was definitely the best Food we had on our trip around the Philippines. The Restaurant is nicely decorated, Service is friendly although not over-efficient. We enjoyed a Valentine´s dinner with many different and fabulous courses and absolutely loved it. Although nice freshly made fruit Juice. While cuisine on the Philippines is a bit poor, Kalui met our expactations totally.

“Love Kalui!”

We loved the food, decor and the whole experience. It was great too that they could accommodate our last minute, early dinner reservation. Good thing some people cancelled. TIP: reserve your table early.

“True to what most people rave about here.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

It's, by far, the best set meal I had in PPS. Next time I'll visit, I'll try the ala carte as welll. Price is just right. The service was fast, the servers were friendly and proactive, the place is comfy and great with lots of arts and craft at the back of the restaurant. You should not miss this when visiting PPS. Please reserve ahead of time specially during peak (summer) season.

“not perfect”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2014

We got an invite for dinner at the Kalui restaurant. We arrived at the place and found it packed. We didn't have a reservation but surprisingly we were able to get in. We had to take off our shoes and walk barefoot on the shiny wooden floor which I thought was a bit exotic with a homely feel. We were ushered to a table at the back. I liked the ambiance, the rustic decor and the nice soft background music. The waiter promptly handed out menus and then not long after that, our dinner was served. The presentation of the food was impressive. We had garlic prawns, fish in coconut sauce, salad and four other dishes which tasted okay but nothing to rave about. I was disappointed with the dessert. It was just 3 or 4 cut up water melons with seeds in it and a tiny slice of papaya sprinkled with muscovado sugar served in a coconut shell. I was expecting more variety of tropical fruits to fill up at least close to the top of the shell but what we got didn't even fill up a quarter of the shell. Nevertheless, I thought the service was good and fast. This is a nice place to relax and for catching up with old friends. We stayed until we were good and ready to leave and didn't feel rushed despite the full house. Our dinner for four cost 1800 pesos..
