“Undiscovered Gem in Sta Lourdes”
Reviewed 26 April 2013

A vacation in PP would firstly ring in mind a tour of the Underground River, it being a UNESCO acclaimed Wonder of Nature. But after a long and energy-draining day of PPUR and Ugong Rock Spelunking and Zipline, a restful haven awaits - Villa Saturnina. Far from the hustle and bustle of city life, Villa Saturnina offers a promise of a serene Puerto Princesa getaway. Not only is the location a big plus, but also is its staff. I would like to commend the Narrazid Family (Attys Narrazid and Sir Sam) and Kuya Joey for their warmth. Nothing beats Villa Saturnina when it comes to a family-like ambiance. They are not intrusive, mind you. They give very helpful advices which we were ready to heed. Despite the changes in our schedule, due to extraneous circumstances, what I got as a reply was always, "No problem :-)"

Leave all your worries behind. Do you need some time off from work? A much-needed body re-charging? Or a chance to be one with nature at its finest? Go ahead and book at Villa Saturnina because they will offer you their 110% service. They are BETTER than BEST!

Kudos to Villa Saturnina!

N.B. There is a beautiful Buddhist Temple situated right in front of Villa Saturnina. Don't forget to pay a visit and say a prayer to the gods. It is one of the highlights of my trip in PP!

Hello Kris,

First, I would like to thank you for posting nice photos of the inn. This should give future guests an idea how the place looks like, without the "bias" that usually comes with business-produced photos.

I would also like to express my gratitude for the great feedback we got from your review. We pride ourselves for ensuring that our guests are well cared for and given personal attention, and I am happy that we were successful in giving that to you :)

Love the staff! Very hospitable - thanks Joel & Tintin keep up the good work :) More Lamayo Joel please :) We enjoyed HOnday Bay Tour, Underground river, Firefly watching and City tour. Thank you Joseph for bringing us to Ka Lui's for lunch. That was a very good meal :)

Sam and his father attended to all our needs during our stay and were caring and friendly. Email replies were incredibly fast and helpful. All our tours were very well organized and Sam managed to book us on the Underground River tour despite the high season, which was great. We especially liked the fireflies tour. Even if the hotel is a bit far from the city, it is easy to find a tricycle to go there at a cheap price. The room was simple but clean, with tv, a/c, wifi and hot shower. We would definitely stay there again should we return to Puerto Princessa.

Summary:
Sam Narrazid (and Juny) - Excellent
Staff (Joel, Andres, and the other girl) - Excellent
Place - Good
Tour Experience - Good

Details Below:
Sam, Juny and the rest of the staff are excellent. Sam accommodated our requests readily and responds to our questions or queries in a timely manner. The rest of the onsite staff are very courteous, hospitable and very friendly. All of my requests are granted so far.

I rated the place good because it feels like being at home away from home. Then again, the pictures are a bit far from the actual place. I would suggest to improve the way it looked from what we saw and retain its stature as a nice home away from home. Room wise, its very spacious and clean. The restroom is clean as well. The only problem we had was the location is far off from the city and there was a water problem on our 4th day. We had to transfer because of the water problem though. And good thing about the situation is, Sam refunded the full remaining stay that we may use it on the place we transferred to.

For the tour experience, I would suggest to Sam and anyone who will get their tour package is to specifically determine what islands to go to when you go island hopping. reason being is some of the island are not a good experience. In my case, starfish island and specially pandan island are good islands to go. For Cowrie island where we had our buffet lunch, I will not recommend this because food choices are very few and the taste is not that quite good. Island itself is ok..cant say great but its ok...if given the choice, i would have tried other islands.

Lastly, would like to thank Sam for the accommodations and overall experience. It could improve more and please do maintain the place and improve it more to get a better 'home away from home' experience.

Hi Ched!

Your feedback is greatly appreciated. I am glad that you found your overall stay pleasant despite the setbacks that we encountered.

Pictures - most of the photos were taken during the soft opening, hence the absence of the new trees and shrubs. Certain improvements have also been made to the dining area (it used to be an open space with no screens). Maintenance is definitely one of our top priorities and we will keep on adding value added features in the near future.

Water problem - this was indeed very unfortunate and i am glad that a transfer was arranged in the soonest possible time. It was a water supply outage in the area due to repairs made by the local water district. It took longer than expected but water supply came back the same morning that you transferred. Measures are now being taken to ensure that inconveniences like these are avoided in the near future.

Island hopping - the main reason for the selection of cowrie island as the lunch destination is the price (buffet lunch is relatively cheap there) as well as the convenience. I have personally experienced how lunch time looks like at pandan island, and it is not a pretty sight. Ala carte meals also cost around 150-200 per head over there. I do agree with the food quality, and guests definitely have an option not to have lunch there :)

Thanks again for the great feedback!

stayed in Villa Saturnina recently. Spartan but cozy accommodation, near Honda Bay wharf (about 30-40 minutes from the airport and town proper).

Sam and his brother Juni were very hospitable and accommodating... the bed in our first room was a bit hard, and Sam transferred us right away to the adjacent room with out any question; and they made sure that arrangements to see the sights of Palawan were fixed. From Villa Saturnina, we got picked up by a van to bring us to Sabang, the Underground River area, as well as for the Island hopping on Honda Bay and the Firefly watching in the mangroves. Breakfasts were basic (hotdog or longganisa and lamayo (fried fish) with 3in1 coffee) in a charming "kubo".

Nearby restos include Viet Ville (which we found to have authentic vietnamese fare), a korean restaurant (which was overpriced).. and if you needed to go to the supermarket or restaurant outlets, Robinsons Mall is a good 30mins buy tricycle (50pesos per person going out of Honda Bay, but 100-150 pesos on return).

Juni picked us up from the airport and drove us back with a stop over at Inato's for packed frozen Lamayo to take home to Manila.

Our family stayed here last March 14-16, 2013. We were given 2 rooms, a family and a regular room since there were 9 of us. Both rooms were spacious and clean. Like what other reviewers posted here in tripadvisor, Villa Saturnina provides a home-like experience.

We availed the package of 3D2N stay with activities (city tour, firefly watching, underground river tour, honda bay island hopping). All activities were properly arranged and we enjoyed each one of them. We were able to experience all of these at an inexpensive and reasonable price. :)

If ever we'll go back in Puerto Princesa Palawan, we will definitle choose to stay in Villa Saturnina again. :)
