“wonderful staff”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

A basic hotel. A good place to rest. Location a trike away from anywhere.

We were able to check in early. One of their staff, Joseph, was helpful even before we arrived, answering our queries and booking our underground river tour. Special mention as well to MJ, who was very cheery and helped packed our breakfast.

Good Value for our 4 day stay in Oct 2013. Hotel is clean and in a quiet location, with some rooms having a peek-a-boo view of Honda Bays and waterfront. Hotel staff very pleasant and accommodating. Airport shuttle pick-up and excursions went smoothly with good communication of times and arrangements. Notable was one tour operator, Amiel Tours, with whom we forgot our $600 camera. We asked Hotel staff to call soon after our late evening drop off and they cheerfully dropped it off first thing the following morning. Great excursion of the city and felt very secure and entertained and pleasantly surprised with this service.
As mentioned the rooms were clean, quiet and private (they now have curtains on all windows, re previous review complaint). WIFI signal was good throughout our stay as as the cable tv reception. A quick run through on how to work the tv would have been helpful. Aircon was quiet and efficient. Only problem was a leaky shower faucet, but there was a master shut-off valve which opted to use to eliminate the problem, rather than accept the offer of an upgraded room which didn't have the harbour view. Breakfast was basic, but again inspired confidence in the cleanliness and service. Our first day we also requested and received a specially prepared brunch meal that we could only dream off receiving back in Canada.
Although not a luxury Hotel, this facility fully met our expectations for room and location. The courteous and efficient service was a bonus. We can certainly recommend both this hotel and the excursion operators with whom the work.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a peek-a-boo harbour view. No elevator so request lower floor if mobility is an issu...

We stayed at Palawan Palm Suites when we went to Puerto Princesa last March. We availed of their opening discounts, and did not have extremely high expectations of the place.

Included in what we paid for was the airport transfer. Things got off to a rocky start. We waited for almost 20 minutes to be picked up. Almost all the passengers had people waiting for them upon exit of the airport. We had to call Palawan Palm more than 2x. Also, maybe since the hotel is still new, no one seemed familiar with the said hotel.

Upon arrival at the hotel, we were expecting that we would just leave our bags and wait for check-in since we took the first flight to Puerto Princesa, and it was barely 10 am. Surprisingly, they let us check-in early, complete with welcome drinks, to a new and comfortable superior room. For free. Plus, they opened the kitchen so we could order breakfast as well which they delivered to our room. Breakfast was hearty with a choice of two beverages and Filipino or Continental breakfast.

What we didn't like were the following:
- No curtains. I felt the need to undress and dress up inside the bathroom. This was my dealbreaker. Even if we were facing an area with little to no people, it just felt uncomfortable to be in a room without curtains.
- Spotty to no Wi-Fi. We needed to get work-related e-mails out, but had a hard time connecting. This would be OK if there's no real need to go on-line.
- No one taught us how to use the TV remotes. But then, with all the stuff to be done in PPS, there might be no need for this.
- No blowdryer. Had to go out with dripping wet hair at night, after we freshened up from a group tour. Not a real dealbreaker, just something I noticed.
- Being new, tricycle drivers were initially unfamiliar with the location. Best to print out a map or memorize landmarks and road names.
- No phone to call for room service. Need to go down to the front desk (not a far walk from 2nd floor, but I guess if you were at the penthouse, this would be annoying).

What we like/love were the following:
- Decent location
- Consistent and quiet a/c
- Hearty breakfast
- Courteous and pleasant staff
- Very easy to talk to (for early check-in)
- Gave tips on where to eat
- Clean rooms
- Super comfortable bed

Room Tip: Ask if breakfast can be served in your room as the dining area has a low ceiling and feels cramped...
