“A luxurious paradise”
Reviewed 6 March 2013

We enjoyed very much our four days here. The resort is really beautiful and luxurious. Our room, the one with a garden view, was huge, around 60 square meters.
The hotel has two private beaches that are way more peaceful than the crowded White Sand beach. It also has many different and large infinity pools in the garden.
The shuttle service to and from D'Mall worked well during our stay and we never had to wait long for their van.
Hotel's staff was nice and easygoing and breakfast OK. They really worked hard to serve nothing but the best. Couple of times we saw the head chef walking a around the restaurant. Once he took OJ back to kitchen after he had tasted it.
Only small letdown was the cutlery that felt plastic. And, of course, checking out and leaving the place wasn't that nice either. :) We could had stayed longer, and we can highly recommend to choose this luxurious heaven. This is, no doubt, the best hotel we have been to.

From the minute we arrived in Caticlan airport till the last second we left everything was taken care of. Excellent service, beautiful and comfortable room, lovely premises and good food. 10 points for the breakfast! Located in paradise.

We wanted somewhere different for honeymoon. Boracay had just won beach of the year. Shangri-La seemed to be the stand out hotel…..
Horrible beach(all broken shells), Greasy food, bad massages, smelly aircon, water pump to villa broke so had dirty water to shower in, no indoor areas to eat and drink, only beer was San Miguel (YUCK) pool scungy, etc, couldn’t wait to get home. Should have gone back to Intercon at Fiji.
Villa looked amazing but wasn’t up kept. Bugs got in on the upper level so couldn’t even enjoy in peace. Not worth anywhere near the price we paid. Could have gone to Bora Bora for same price and should have.
Will never return to Philippines and will probably never stay at another Shangri-La and won’t get another chance at our honeymoon.

We have stayed there for four nights. I've got to say it really is nice resort but i was surprised how crowded it was. Coming here after staying in resorts where you haven't met a person for a whole day time it was kind of unpleasant. The room was quite spacious, nicely furnished, very clean, with great amenities, great amount of tv channels, daily two bottles of water and fresh fruits, daybeds on the balcony. We did not like the toilet - such a small space that even the shorter one of us (173cm) almost did not fit in and we also missed an espresso machine (which i guess is a norm at the hotels of this level). We really loved their breakfasts - enormous amount of choices (anything you can imagine) but it was always really crowded and queueing was not an exception. One thing we didn't like at all - though it's a thing the resort can do nothing about - and that was the amount of food the guests were throwing away (there literally were plates full of food thrown away - I've never seen it done to this extent anywhere else). All the other dining was excellent as well - we went for the philippino buffet which was amazing. On the other hand the lobby bar was quite an unpleasant surprise for us - we were waiting for a long time to get the drinks even though it was almost empty and the drinks were nothing like they should be - no garnish, half empty glass, warm Margarita. Great plus were the free shuttle busses from the resort to the town (but again - crowds and queues). Check in and check out were both really fast, the staff at the restaurants, front desk, beach, spa was extremely nice and helpfull. I would give excellent rating if only it wasn't for the lobby bar and the crowds which kind of spoiled the experience for us.

You can always tell when a hotel doesn't just say it's 5 star, it really is 5 star! We have done a few 5 star tropical trips and this ranks number 2 closely behind Anantara Dhigu in the Maldives and just ahead of Hilton, Morea, Tahiti. It's the little things that make the difference about Shangri La, and this resort certainly lives up to the Shangri La reputation. For example, I went for a swim in the crystal clear waters full of tropical fish off the private beach. When I came out, a staff member came over immediately with a cool fragranced wet towel, a fruit skewer and a cold bottle of mineral water! They just know what you want, when you want it without prompting but also without crowding you. In some places the staff are almost too keen but here they have the balance just right! The hotel is immaculate and has everything you could wish for. Staff are friendly and efficient most of the time. My only 2 improvement suggestions would be, more staff at the beach bar around sunset time. It gets very busy and the barman struggled to keep up so we had to wait a while for our drinks. They should also collect used towels and empty bottles round the pool a bit more often, especially in the late afternoon when the pool area starts to look a bit messy. But, these are very minor criticisms in what is otherwise a very high standard hotel! Otherwise, the food and drinks are reasonably priced (by 5 star standards). The location is pure paradise. If you need to unwind and want to be treated like royalty, this is the place for you!

Shang rila is one of the best hotel in Asia I can say.. Shang rila boracay has bigger rooms, cater for family who wants to enjoy the real vacation they have the best pool, the best service, maybe some of thier food was not the best for my standard but i love the pizza the pasta I think the chef is an italian..My 3 yr old boy enjoyed every moment here,he loves everything even the people are very friendly .. The pool that nothing compare for his standard asking for it while we are in another hotel.I dream of comingback this the only place in Boracay that even after the rain the beach still Crystal clear.
We will probably comeback.

My partner and I traveled to the philippines to visit my parents, and we spent our last week in Shangri La Resort in Boracay. This resort is great for relaxing from the hustle and bustle from work. I will have to list what is excellent here because there is so much.
1)Pick up service from Caticlan via a speed boat, took approx 15minute from the airport to the resort.
2)Villa Pool is awesome. Close to the beach and bar, what else can you ask for.
3)Happy hour at the beach bar 5-7pm buy one get one free. Top shelf selection.
4)Beach and pool service. They will make sure they find the spot you want.
5)Restaurants, we went to Vintana, Serena, and Cielo. Great food especially the breakfast spread. Service is great, all the staff are willing to accommodate your request.
6)Entertainment center is great too if you want to get away from the beach. They have a pool table, air hockey, sport TV, computers, table tennis, and karaoke.
7)Staff are very friendly, helpful and honestly they go far and beyond to make your stay relaxing and pleasant.
8)If you like to run, you can run around the premises which is great because you have the view of the beach as well as the grounds.
9)Spa is excellent, ginger tea and cold face towels to get you started and bring a camera with you to take pictures of the Spa, its like a hotel within a hotel.
10)Staff and services are top notch, can't say enough about them.
OOOOOOOO and I forgot they do have shuttle services if you want to go to other stations, but I believe there is a Fee, but if you want to go to the D'mall its free.
Hope this review helps with your decisions.

Room Tip: Pool Villa, private, its like home away from home. With Butler services which makes your like easy...
