“Amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 March 2014

We stayed for one night. The property was amazing and so was the spa services by Chi spa. All of the staff were super attentive and helpful at anytime of the day. Only note that in future to have your bathroom glass wall to be clean as there were water marks that didnt make the sea view seem all that great, as well a hygine topic. Drinking glasses too was not clean. Other then that this property was amazing for both of us, We were sad to leave after 1 day but will look forward in the near future to stay again with the shangri - la boracay.

From the moment you step off the plane and see the Shangri-La sign waiting for you, you are in for some amazing service. Let me just say that I consider the service at this resort, better than I have ever experienced. You feel like you're walking into a warm hug with every interaction with the staff. They are warm, helpful, and want to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

The location is STUNNING, the resort is set on cliffs overlooking 2 beautiful beaches with azure blue waters, white sand, and staff to help with your every whim. I did not hear "no, we cannot do that" once during the trip.

The resort is immaculate, beautiful and peaceful, no detail left untouched. The sound of flowing water everywhere you go, from the beach, the pool, the lobby, the walkway to your room, so calming and the smell of the flowers, it's truly heavenly.
Our room was beautiful with a terrace and a shaded lounge area.
The view of the sunset from anywhere in the resort is simply breathtaking.

We felt completely taken care of the whole time. If I was ever to return to Boracay, I would definitely return to this resort. We did not want to leave.

I cannot say one bad thing. I'm not a big fan of resorts too large but this place is incredible. Best service I've had (and I come from a silver service background). Beautiful grounds and away from all the tourist hype, although close enough to easily get to with their shuttle. Their treetop Italian restaurant is Superb along with their cliff view seafood restaurant. The pool food is OK but who cares with the beach right there. TOP NOTCH STAY

Room Tip: The villas are great but Deluxe Room is a great value still with a view.

Both our rooms had late afternoon availability despite our arriving early at 9am, however we were offered 1 refresher room for medical procedure at 230pm.

Clinic initially didn't honor person with disability card discount. One time doctor and nurse fee is astonishing, as were procedure charges of P3000+ considering we brought all materials used except for the IV drip stand.

Room 326 & 327 suffered aircon outages daily, on 3/7 around 2am and 4am, on 3/8 around 3am. We understand from staff explanation that this is due to island power instability, but hotel engineering can set it such that the aircon is automatically switched back on after a power switch to generators or to island power if requested by guests, we did make this request yet we had to complain again on our last night. One of our party was sick on 3/7, upon waking at 2am on 3/8 the room was so uncomfortably warm he thought he had a turn for the worse and was about to call the clinic when he thoughtfully checked the aircon to notice it was turned off.

Room 326 rainfall shower head drips even if using just the goose neck head, worse it drips a different temperature water. If one was using hot water on the goose neck head, cold water dribbling on you from rainfall head is quite annoying. Further the toilet's corridor lock for sliding door has not been in proper alignment since August 2013, unable to engage. Toiletries, from what we understand will eventually be all in house branded, we found the shampoo to smell like Tiger Balm ointment, interesting if you're not familiar with it but almost unpleasant if you are. Imagine using Vicks VapoRub smelling shampoo, the thought that it would sting our eyes is instinctively unpleasant.

Vintana breakfast, on our first visit in August 2013 it was the bomb, simply shock and awe (though I prefer main course selections offered at Circles breakfast buffet in Makati Shangrila), but on each successive visit it became a little bit less so. Kid's station completely vanished (remnants were near ice cream area), fresh fruit selection weaker on quality (let's put it on not in season), bread pudding was not refilled (perhaps demand was weak but I was waiting for it). Hot chocolate, while I have read rave reviews I found it gritty, watery and quite dull, lacking richness and flavor. Fresh yoghurt was well received, every time. Pastries are displayed quite stunningly but not as fresh, reheating is a must. I like how the bottles of jams are now labeled and tabled. part1

We stayed in this beautiful resort for 3 nights. Let me start with the good:
1. the property is gorgeous; nice private beach and pool areas, beautifully maintained property.
2. the staff really tries very hard to please and delivers as expected
3. the food and service is very good; went to Sirena (seafood) and Rima (Italian) for dinner; lunch and drinks at the Alon Bar; and buffet breakfast in Vintana. Though dinners were very pricey, we were not disappointed.

The not-so-good:
1. We arrived before 11 am, so we are early. I do understand that the room is not ready and that check in is at 2 pm and I'm okay to wait until then. We hung around the Lobby Lounge for about an hour and then decided to go to Alon Bar to grab some lunch. At 2 pm, we went back to the lobby, but alas, the room is not ready-- we have to sit around some more and we will be notified when it's ready. This is not acceptable. We prepaid $$$$ months ago and the least that they can do is to have our room ready by check-in time. The guest relations rep is very accommodating after I complained and he was able to find me a wash up room so we can stretch out after 20 hours of travel. Our "real" room wasn't ready until 4 pm.
2. The deluxe seaview room has a beautiful view overlooking the beach. Love the view! It's a nice room, but nothing to write home about. The bathroom needs to be re-grouted as mold is starting to grow on the corners (by the soap holder).

Overall, we had a good stay. The staff is excellent, tries hard to please and gives the best service. Will I stay again? Maybe, but not likely. If I paid so much money on a hotel stay, I want to be blown away and expect to not have a smidgeon of disappointment.

If you have the money, just book it! This is definitely the best one in the island of Boracay. First, upon picking us up in the airport, you'll smell the scent of Shangrila in the van. Then they will take you to their private port area where you will ride a speed boat going to the resort. Every staff will just greet you with their warmest smiles and will be glad to give you a tour of the place. The lobby is just awesome, with lush green surroundings and the blue sea in the background - just paradise.

The have different rooms; standard one would be the deluxe garden view. If you still have a few thousands to spare then I suggest to book their deluxe sea view room. Same room size and amenities (they use L'occitane Products for their toiletries) but with way way better view.

If you're a Club Gourmet member, this will entitle you to 20% discount from their restaurants, so good value too! They have great selection of food for their breakfast. They have fantastic pools and most importantly, their private beach! Just go around the hotel and it's surroundings and you'll definitely enjoy every second touring it.

This is definitely the best hotel/resort in the island. I would never want to stay in any other hotels in Boracay in the future other than this one.

Until a new international resort rises in Boracay, Shangri-la will remain peerless in terms of rooms, service and value for money. Breakfast is extensive, with fresh OJ dispenser. Amazing service minded staff and serene private beach despite operating at almost full capacity. Shangri-la is luxurious and fun, perfect for a family weekend.

Room Tip: One bedroom suite for a family of four
