“Great Resort”
Reviewed 19 January 2014

Stayed there last December with a group. Resort was undergoing some renovation and repairs from recent typhoon. However, that did not affect my experience. The service was superb and very attentive. Located in "Station One" (of three) which is the more quiet, less commercial end. In saying that, it is just a short beach stroll from the hustle and bustle of the bars, clubs and shops. The beach is less crowded, very clean and water is warm throughout the entire day.

Breakfast was ok, but definitely should try the lunch and dinner.

Our group contained people with all ages, different nationalities as well as kids, singles, couples and families. There is so much and so little to do. Everyone had a great time, in the resort and on the island.

I felt we paid a lot of money for what we got at this resort! We stayed in a deluxe room that was literally like being in a basement - dark with absolutely no view! They are also doing renovations so lying on the beach in front of the hotel is hardly peaceful. I think there are much better options in Boracay than this resort

Reasonably priced for what you get. The service is super super nice and attentive. Breakfast is not great, they could improve it. Location is great - more quiet, not in the middle of the crowds and noise by D Mall. We loved our stay at the Ambassador and hope to come back soon.

We stayed here last November, only a week after typhoon Yolanda passed by. The overall experience was great. There were power outages at certain times, but that is understandable. The service and hospitality was great. Upon arrival we were greeted very warmly and 2 nice and refreshing drinks were provided even before we had a chance to check in. The room we got was massive..with a small balcony with views of the beautiful beach. It was well equipped, the bed was very comfortable, and the air conditioning was great. The bathroom was quite big too, with a spa and a TV as well. The restaurant was really good, one of the best we tried while on the island. The food was really tasty, and quite good value. The buffet breakfast was very good, with lovely fresh fruits and flavourful dishes.
The best, and to me most important, part of the stay here was the location. This part of the beach is the widest, with the best sand, and very quiet, as it is a fair distance from the crowds closer to D mall. Not many people hassling you to buy stuff from them, and a lot of room to walk, jog, or just lay down on the beach.
Based on my own personal experience, I will highly recommend this resort.

Rated a five-star hotel but really is NOT! We stayed in Astoria and Two Seasons last year and the service was not this terrible. Their free breakfast does not have anything! Compared to the two other hotels we stayed at last year they have huge selection of buffet breakfast. But NOT in Ambassador. When you try to order from their menu it will take over an hour to be served yes even an order of just a burger! And they have an excuse for everything! One time they said there's only one chef, another time they said they are lack of staff, another day they said there's plenty of order when there's hardly nobody in the dining room!

Wi-Fi is only good for 30 minutes and you have to keep on logging back in to enter the username and password EVEN if you're a stay in guest. The excuse of the manager when this issue was addressed: they are getting it fixed for faster internet connection tomorrow... 5 days after, still the same. 30 mins internet connection & you'll be kicked out automatically like you're in some sort of an Internet Wi-Fi café only.

Rooms don't have any phones to call for room service. I've been staying here for five days now and I just read on one of the reviews that they give all their guests a cell phone to call for any service but was not even mentioned to us on the very first day we arrived.

No free shuttle to d'mall. They claim that they do but every time you go to the front desk - there's always no Driver available.

Try ordering a drink while you're laying on their beach chairs.. And all you will get is a lot of foam on your drink unless you order soda. And to remind you it's ridiculously priced.

We will never stay at ambassadors again. The owner is so cheap to invest on the resort for more staff & better management.

This resort is not definitely worth your money.

Ambassador was an excellent resort to spend new year's in boracay. Could not have picked a better hotel. Convenient location to Dmall and restaurants/bars, etc. but still pretty private. Reasonable price for what you get. Excellent customer service for various reasons. Upon arrival, our initial reservation request was not accommodated (may have been overlooked) - I wanted a family-style room as this was a family vacation for the holidays. Pretty upset since I booked this back in February 2013. Very impressed with the reservation officers, especially May Garrucha, who bent over backwards to reorganize the reservation. Rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated/furnished. Housekeeping came twice a day and kept the rooms very tidy. I would say the staff was exceptional with meeting all our needs. Food at the restaurant was particularly good - get the risotto dishes - you won't be disappointed. Free breakfast buffet. Cabana boys noticeably very attentive. For New Year's Eve, we were given a table with a great view of the fireworks though we had no reservation. The owner noticed that we were searching for a table and secured us one as soon as another group cancelled - he approached us immediately on his own. It was raining that night so we were even given a giant table umbrella. Perfect spot to watch the fireworks lined up at the beach!

Just a few things I wish could be better. There are no phones in the rooms. They provide a cellphone which calls the front desk but all three of our phones were finicky and did not always work well. Would be a problem in an emergency.

To sum it up, this resort is a great find. You definitely get your money's worth and leave the place happy with your choice. I'd definitely come back!

We paid US$200 per night for 5 nights here. Well, after staying here, I will not pay more than US$50 per night. We arrived at 5pm after a full day of traveling with delays only to be checked into an extremely dark room with only 2 bedside lamps. Right outside the balcony (we were on the ground floor) was strewn a very large amount of construction trash, and the room faced a big white wall in the front, and a local Filipino home that was so close you could just climb into it from the balcony (see pictures). We asked for a room change but were told that the resort is full, and the setup of the room was such that it would be dark (wtf?). After refreshing, we saw on our way out to dinner that other rooms had 2 standing lamps and a ceiling light that our room was missing, and asked for that. To the hotel's credit, they finally moved 2 standing lamps into the room. At dinner, we overheard the waiter telling the next table that the hotel was only 80% occupied.

Overall, this hotel is very old, and there were many blackouts everyday. The staff attribute it to the typhoon but we stayed later at another resort and experienced only 1 over a 4 day stay. Blackouts happen with a loud bang and you wake up to it if it happens in the middle of the night shutting down the aircon. Service level is poor, the staff is friendly but very poorly trained. There are no phones in the room and we had to walk all the way to the front desk 3x to ask for a towel change, replenishment of empty tissue boxes and water, all of which should have been done by housekeeping. At our checkout, they even had the nerve to accuse us of taking 2 candy bars (we do not eat candy, period).

The only saving grace is the restaurant. Some of the better food along that stretch of beach although nothing to rave about. So do yourself a favor - eat at the restaurant but don't stay at the hotel.

Room Tip: The location is good - station 1 is much quieter and more beautiful although a very tough walk under...
