Overall a nice hotel. Good service, mordern design hotel (love the swimming pool), breakfast is Okay and perfect location (within station 1 and station 2). Although the room and the size of the hotel is consider small, but is acceptable with the price and location offered.

Room Tip: We did't really choose the room, but we got pool access room, which is fantastic!

I'm from the Philippines and Boracay is frequently visited by foreigners/tourists from around the world and yet, here I was with my husband, this post-Summer June 2013, we visited Boracay for the first time. I've been to Palawan, Siargao, Sohoton & Bohol. All of them are amazingly beautiful. As for Boracay, well, everybody said it right, it's paradise!

Our first time visit to Boracay even made it extra special because of our memorable stay in Astoria Hotel. Like my previous review, i mentioned that it was never a mistake joining Astoria Platinum membership. It's worth our money. I love the generous, spacious rooms, the convenience it provides. I never get caught of the place we usually stay right away, warm welcome of the staff & their sincere service & hospitality is what always give me an impression that it's worth the budget we paid. So, i give credit to all the staff and the management. Keep it up! It's even more convenient because they have transfer assistance to & fro Caticlan airport up to the Jetty Port, just make sure you make that booking before you arrive. I love their lap pool, which we did use for night swim for exercise (though the beach is great enough for swimming). And oh the breakfast buffet! Inclusive when you're checked-in. We stayed in this hotel as a couple but our room is good enough for a family of 4.

We would definitely return and stay at Astoria Hotel!

** We also tried Boracay's famous activities like Parasailing & Helmet Diving. But unfortunately, we don't have much time for Island Hopping, next time! It's a must!

Dear brightlove,

Thank you for your entry submitted on July 1, 2013 for the nights you recently spent at the resort last month. The management of Astoria Hotels and Resorts is very pleased to learn that you enjoyed your stay and wish to thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to write and share your first hand experience whilst in Astoria Boracay.

Like you, I have also traveled extensively all over the Philippines but there is something special about the island of Boracay that draws you and makes you want to come back over and over again no matter how busy and developed the island gets each month. The island is consistently voted one of the best beaches in the world in various global publications and websites and this is because of the powder white sand which you cannot find anywhere else in the world.

We thank you for becoming a Platinum Member of Club Astoria and appreciate your endorsing this on TripAdvisor. The membership is of great value, most especially for those who take their vacations seriously and plan for it in advance. In a way we are glad you were not able to do all of the activities on the island because this will be the reason for you to come back and do your return stay at Astoria Boracay.

Again, our sincere thanks for the review and we look forward to welcoming you back at the resort and on the island of Boracay soon.

The Astoria Boracay Hotel came with high expectations. Situated in a prime location, in walking distance to the best places to go to in Boracay and in front of a well-kept and pristine beach, it just had to be! The hotel in itself was very satisfactory, but what really exceeded our expectations was the staff.

I also work in a hotel, hence unfortunately have a silent critical eye, but I found that this was not a cause for concern at all in this hotel. From our arrival experience to our departure, we were taken care of throughout. And I have to say, we are quite a demanding family! But all our requests were met promptly and with a smile.

A great service that they provide is daily complimentary drying services of your clothing!

We also had the lunch and dinner buffet at their White Cafe. The lunch buffet was had on our last day and the flies did deter me a bit, but being an open restaurant there really isn't much they can do to prevent that, although they really did try! We had the dinner buffet on a thankfully rain-free night under the outside tent erected near the beach. For entertainment they have a live band, although I prefer a more quiet dining experience, others around me (especially my parents) enjoyed the classic old-school songs that they belted out. The most riveting were the firedancers. They even tried to interact with the crowd by dancing with their hands holding the fire balls resting on some poor soul's head (I steered clear from this!) but those braver than me were smiling and posing for a good photo opp!

This was a mini family reunion that was 2 years in the making, so naturally I wanted everything to go perfectly. I couldn't have done this without the help of Karla and Von from the Front Desk and August and Ray from the White Cafe restaurant team.

Room Tip: Their rooms are very spacious, just make sure to see the room first before checking in (if they are...

Dear NJM88,

Thank you for your review of Astoria Boracay submitted last June 24 2013. We are delighted to hear that your long-planned family vacation to Boracay was a stress-free trip which you thoroughly enjoyed. Compliments from fellow hoteliers who are Filipino as well are profoundly welcomed and appreciated, as we both have the same understanding and speak the same hospitality language. We are extremely pleased to have met you and your family expectations.

Your comments on the complimentary drying service, the Hotlist live band and the Flaming Divas fire dancers encourage us even more in our attempt to provide all our in house guests with a complete Boracay experience that is unique, unforgettable and enjoyable. And the outstanding services rendered by Karla, Von, August and Ray will be relayed to our Human Resources and the Resort Manager as well for proper recognition.

Again, we wish to thank you for taking the time to write the review on Astoria Boracay and we hope to welcome you and your family once again on one of the best beaches in the world, Boracay.

The interiors was very nice and spacious. Accessible to many restaurants since it is located in station 2.
Love the modern interiors, but i just don't like the fact that you cant exactly lounge by the beach front since there are a lot of boats and boatmen in that area docking off their passengers, making it very busy and not so relaxing.

Dear Joycea101,

Thank you for your review of Astoria Boracay posted on June 20 2013 for your stay at the resort last May. We appreciate your taking the time to write about your experience of the resort and value the comments you have made regarding the design, decor and interiors. The architectural design of the resort was executed by Gallego Architects from Cebu and the interior decoration was executed by Atelier Almario, one of the country's leading design and decor experts. The combination of their design aesthetics is one that Astoria takes pride in, for it is design-driven, forward, modern yet comfortable and functional. We also have some Cobonpue pieces in the resort to add to the local yet contemporary vibe we want to espouse at the resort.

The beachfront of the resort is undeniably busy at certain hours because of the proximity to the activities and island hopping area where people catch the boats. We are doing our best to have this relocated to a different area but for the time being, have to rely on our guards to try and have them stay further out so as not to disturb our resort guests. We hope to resolve the matter soon and hope to have a less populated beach front for our guests to enjoy.

Many thanks for the positive review and we hope to welcome you back at the resort in the future.

Sincerely yours,

The staff were extremely friendly and professional--way beyond my expectation and so far the best service I've experienced in all of hotels and resorts in the Philippines. Helpful, courteous and extremely hospitable without being too obtrusive. The male dominated hotel staff seem to work perfectly for the resort.

The hotel should avoid using a cleaning agent or a room spray which smells like a bug spray. Not a good way to welcome a visitor. And yes, indeed, the water at the bath tub drain so slow that it's quite an issue if there were two of using the bathroom. I am not expecting a Tempur bed and pillows but Astoria's mattress was actually a bit hard for me. Internet connection was quite unreliable especially late night time.

Breakfast buffet was good and manned by attentive crews and manager. This was probably the best part of the stay, when you are being taken care of the staff that seem to enjoy their job and not there looking bored and just waiting for next payday. It's one place where you will happily don't hesitate to leave a tip. Now, if only can they have a selection of fresh fruit juices instead of the obviously instant orange, mango and pineapple juice which was way to sweet and unhealthy.

Location wise, be ready to hear noises from tourists going for a dive since it's right next to a diving center. Proximity to Station 2 where most restaurants were located was of course a good thing.

I believe that Astoria's main selling point was their staff--that guest could let go whatever negative comments they have for the hotel/resort. Whoever is in charge of hiring staff is actually doing a great job! I have not experienced the Shangri-La in the island yet which I am sure had the most professional staff but for now, I have to say that Astoria got the best hotel staff in Boracay.

Dear PhWanderer,

Thank you for your review submitted on June 14, 2013 of your stay at Astoria Boracay last month. The management of Astoria Hotels and Resorts appreciates your taking the time to write and share your comments on how we can better serve all our guests at the resort. Allow us to handle your review in 2 sections: where we missed out and where we nailed it.

Where We Missed Out
We have noted all your comments on the room spray, bathtub drain, the firmness of our mattresses, weak internet connection and having fresh fruit juices at the breakfast buffet and wish to thank you for mentioning your concerns. These issues have been raised with the Resort Manager, who will enact corrective measures where applicable to address each of the items mentioned in your review.

Where We Nailed It
Your kind words describing our staff and the services they render is a proud testament to each employee's commitment and passion to provide all our guests with nothing but the best. We are deeply humbled by your choice of words and be assured that your comments will be read by the Resort Manager to all the resort staff to motivate them even more. We hope that when you do get to stay at the Shangri-la Boracay, the services will not be any different from what you've experienced at Astoria.

As a senior contributor to tripadvisor, we are delighted to have made the cut of the few properties that merited the 4 stars among your 36 reviews. Again, our sincere thanks and rest assured we will address your concerns raised to improve the facilities at Astoria Boracay.

We hope to welcome you back at the resort and on the island of Boracay, or to any of the Astoria properties in Pasig, Bohol and Palawan.

Sincerely yours,

Stayed 2 nights at this very nice hotel. The location is perfect at the edge of Station 1. Lots of shops around and about a 10 minute stroll to D'Mall.

The hotel itself is great. The rooms were good sized. Service by all the staff members was excellent. The hotel's breakfast buffet was good, very reasonably priced and offered a bit of variety from day to day.

We also availed of their transfer service from and to Caticlan airport which was well worth it.

A couple of comments about the room. We had a difficult time with the A/C system blasting cold air directly on our bed. For some reason there was not enough range on the A/C vanes to direct the air other than towards the bed. Also the water in the shower and the sink drained ever so slowly. No big deal but just a bit annoying.

Dear jas32,

Thank you for your entry submitted on June 10, 2013 for the 2 nights you recently spent at the resort. The management of Astoria Hotels and Resorts is very pleased to learn that you enjoyed your stay and wish to thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to write and share your first hand experience whilst in Astoria Boracay.

Our location on the border of Station 1 and 2 is also one that I personally enjoy and appreciate, as it allows one to walk along the main beach and enables you to choose from the wide variety of restaurants, bars, spas, shopping and the plethora of island activities one can choose from when in Boracay.

We thank you for pointing out the issues of the air conditioning and the drainage of the shower area and rest assured our engineering personnel stationed at the resort will look into the matter and address your concerns. If you recall your room number during your stay, do let us know by reply email so we can expedite the appropriate actions that need to be taken.

Again, our sincere thanks for the review and we look forward to welcoming you back at the resort and on the island of Boracay soon.
