“Great Hotel If You're Looking to Stay Outside the White Beach Area”
Reviewed 1 April 2014

I stayed at Hotel Soffia for 3 nights and 4 days while traveling with my cousins, all of whom are young people. Overall, the hotel deserves 4/5 - a "very good" rating. What I liked the most about this hotel was the pool. Wake up, go for a swim, eat breakfast, then head off to the beach. It was also a nice place for refreshment at the end of the day.

Three Positive Things About this Hotel:

1. SERVICE - a van picked us up from the boat port and transported us to the hotel's front door. We received a shell necklace and refreshing juice drink upon arrival, which was very much appreciated after a long day's travel. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful. They even let us take the hotel pool towels to the beach (as long as we returned them, of course).

2. LOCATION - this could be a positive or a negative. If you're looking for a place that's near White Beach and all the "action," you won't like Hotel Soffia's location among the quieter area of the island. But if you're looking for a peaceful retreat at the end of the day, this place is perfect! It's situated on top of a hill, so it offers great views of the island. And getting to White Beach is easy with regular shuttle service that's free for guests.

3. BREAKFAST - a good selection of both Western and Filipino breakfast is available every morning for "order" (meaning, not buffet style).

One Negative Thing About this Hotel:

1. ROOMS - There isn't really much to criticize about this hotel, although if I had to list something, it would be the room size - it's quite small. We stayed in the standard room and there wasn't too much space to move around. However, considering you're going to be out enjoying the island throughout the day, this is hardly a problem. Most importantly, though, the rooms and bathroom were clean.

Overall, we received a comfortable stay at this hotel and were very satisfied with the hotel. I personally wouldn't mind staying here again, Although, as a young traveler, I'm more attracted to staying closer to the White Beach area. But for people looking for a quieter place to stay, Hotel Soffia is nice.

Room Tip: Rooms on either side of the hotel offer a rather nice view.

Love the hotel as the service is fast n efficient. Even though it is slightly far from the main area the hotel provide free shuttle to the D'mall every hour. Its a superb hotel for those who prefer to stay away from crowds. Its located on a hill top with magnificient view of the island. Highly recommended n good for money.

My wife and I had our mini-honeymoon just last weekend and although this hotel is far from the beach, I would still recommend it for the scenic view, the peace and quiet, the calm surroundings, the friendly staff and the cozy swimming area. Not like other hotels wherein their pools are so crowded with different types of people. I'd recommend this hotel if you're just a couple but if you're with your kids, probably, it'll be half recommended.

I stayed for a week and I expected a lot more for the cost. The shuttle was great to dmall. The hotel was overrun with obnoxious Chinese people. The staff did not intervene when they went screaming down the halls late at night. Or the children screamed and ran around the lobby. There were children who looked at me and splashed me at the pool where I was not swimming. I was not impressed by the behavior of other visitors and the lack of support to keep it calm and pleasant stay. By the way I live in china and I love it but these people were plain rude.

The pool is beautiful but ice cold. There is one waiter that is amazing and the rest are subpar and messed up my orders. Wifi is only in the cafe and lobby. Due to the Rude people it was a bother not having it in the rooms.

The free breakfast was ok but there were no potatoes or fruit. It was just ok.

The room was fine but again I expected more for the price. Like a bathtub and a sink that didn't leak. I probably would not stay here again or recommend it.

We stayed here for two nights in the best room in the hotel. The view from this room is spectacular and the room and service is really good. But the downside is the location. You cannot take walks on your own unless you want to see the local life. The centre and beach is too far away for walking. The hotel has a shuttle service which works great, but we got tired of being dependant of it. The pool is great and especially the view from the pool is amazing. Breakfast was not that nice, especially if you do not eat meat.

My friend and I stayed in Deluxe room at the 3rd floor. It is a nice room with comfortable big bed, nice bathroom but the water pressure is not that great, most of the time we only get low pressure and the heater is not working right. most of the time it is way too hot. Food was delicious. Breakfast is GOOD they have different choices like eggs sausages, tuna etc. The Staffs are accommodating and courteous. Price is a bit pricey though good thing they have free shuttle pick up from hotel to DMall vice versa. Great view of Station 1
