we love love love love this place. When we saw the reviews here and agoda previously, we have our expectations set so high and was excited if the place match what we imagine based from the pics.. and yeah its awesome. the place itself is almost at the top of the hill (feels like greece) and have picturesque view of the sea and beach below. each villa has its own spacious veranda so you do have your own privacy.. you can sunbathe, eat, sing, stargazing at night or whatever you want there. Also i think they only have 10 or less villas so you would rarely see other guests, so serene and home-y feeling. When we were there we just saw a german couple on their way to the market. They have two pools and guests rarely use them so we pretty much have them for ourselves. The view from the pool is amazing as well (especially sunset). The pool area has toilet and shower room so you dont have to rush or so to your villa.

Rooms are colorful and cozy, though the first one we got have ants near the window which they fixed immediately. It was surprising though cause though the ants weren't bothersome, they offered a lot of apologies and transferred/upgraded us to a spacious apartment villa which we think was not necessary hehehe. but yeah we are grateful still and happy to have the apartment villa which is so spacious, (with two bedrooms/toilets, bar, kitchen)

breakfast food is nice as well and they can bring them to your room or veranda or by the garden.. :) just outside the gate, there's an entrance to a nearby private beach (balinghai) which is good to check out too. They have entrance fee of 500 pesos but consumable with sumptuous dishes/drinks. If you want to go to white beach, you can just ask the guard to call the driver who is always on standby to drive you to your destination. Going back, you will need to take a tricycle, fare is 150 only.

Service is great and feels like a family there. When we arrived, we were greeted and welcomed by one staff and we came back in the evening from a swim, we were surprised that one guy (the manager) was calling my boyfriend by his name (so rare) hehe and welcomed us. He will check up on us whenever he's around if we needed something and was helpful with giving tips or offering extra amenities in the villa. He even managed to have a short chat with us knowing that we will checkout the next day and that he wont be in town then.

Overall the stay is unforgettable. Our stay in a paradise like Boracay is an awesome experience already and was glad it was topped up with this wonderful villa. We'll definitely go back :)

The warm and friendly service we received from Argonauta started from the first e-mail. Stefanie couldn't do enough to help us before we had even booked our flight tickets.
Once we stepped out the airport Argonauta staff were waiting for us with a sign and a smile. The weight of our bags were very quickly lifted and we were escorted to a seat and shade from the burning sun. We were always addressed as 'Sir' and 'Ma'am' and everything was taken care of. All we had to do was follow their guidance. They seemed so excited to have us.
We received a lovely warm welcome on arrival of the Hotel accompanied with a drink and flannel. Our bags were carried to our beautiful apartment room. We were so distracted by our sunset view out of the window the only thing I heard staff say was "Your complimentary dinner will be served on the roof deck at 7".
The dinner was beautiful and our first chance to meet Stefanie's husband Jun, a really friendly guy who knows so much about the island and will help you with anything.
The following morning we were given a choice of breakfasts to eat on the roof deck overlooking the local beach and sea. Stunning!
The hotel staff were always willing to drop us wherever we needed to go and even got groceries for us that we couldn’t find ourselves. Whenever being dropped off, they would always make sure we knew how much a taxi would be back to the hotel to ensure we weren’t ripped off.
Argonauta isn't right on the main beach and bars but down the road in a quieter more tranquil place. Free to travel there, and £2 to get back. Brilliant!
We enjoyed a few of the islands many activities and were impressed to find that all we needed to do was let the lady on reception know and it would be booked, our ride their arranged, paid for (and billed to the room to be paid whenever we were ready) and escorted to the activity. All we needed to do was follow and enjoy!
I wasn't aware that there were swimming pools which was a lovely surprise and took a part in our morning routine after breakfast.
We always felt safe, not just because of the tranquil area but also the security guards that are on the resort 24/7.
It is worth remembering the road name that Argonauta is on or taking a business card out with you as we found some drivers didn't know where it was. All we had to do was say "Ballinghai" and they knew.
If you are the type that likes to hide away and be left alone then you will be, if you’re not then there is plenty of company and conversation to enjoy with Jun and staff.
The pictures of the apartment speak for themselves but to experience it in real life is like a dream! The view is to die for.
Stefanie has done an amazing job at not only creating this beautiful place but creating the most welcoming atmosphere and developing an ethic in her staff that consistently delivers professionalism and warmth. There is so much sincerity in this couples warmth and kindness and genuinely care that you have simply the best time that suits what you want.
I couldn't imagine that anybody would have anything to complain about after staying here and highly recommend it to everybody! If you’re considering it, do it!

We had a large group of 8people stay at the Argonauta Boracay over the christmas period last year and it couldn't have been more perfect. The staff were wonderfully friendly and happy to help with any questions, and the house we were in was nice and spacious, with impressive water views and an incredible balcony to sit on and watch the sunset. It was nice to be a little bit out of the main strip - and away from all the buzz and noise of the shops, we truly felt like we were in heaven. Everything could not have gone smoother. A big thankyou to Stephanie and her team for having us - it was an absolute highlight of our trip.

Room Tip: With big groups hiring a whole apartment was a good idea - there was plenty of security and enough s...

We're not at all sure that we should provide a review for the Argonauta, because it's so good we want it to be just 'our' place! However the reality is that home is 8,000 miles away so we're not likely to pop in every weekend, and we really want to share our experience.

Stef is the owner and has built a real treasure here, to her own design and with a lot of personal input. Her vision is obvious everywhere, from design and layout through to the whole ethos and approach to the guests. This is not a cold corporate-type resort so don't expect it. Do expect to chat with Jun about what your plans are each day, he loves to know how he can help...for the shy and retiring amongst you this isn't intrusive, it's to take any stress away and his pleasure is in you getting the most out of your visit. If all you want to do is stretch out, soak up the sunshine and views and do nothing much, then that's fine.

Jun and Stef are knowledgeable about the whole range of activities and can guide you towards the best deals, etc. If you have things in mind beforehand, we would suggest talking to them before you arrive rather than try to sort things out yourself. It's what friends do for friends, and that is how we felt, like guests staying at a friend's place.

This was our first time on Boracay, after many, many recommendations, and we were a little wary that we had stumbled on to the Philippine version of Ibiza (We Europeans know what that means!). We wanted to be somewhere more peaceful but with easy access to restaurants, bars etc. when we felt the need for them. So we spent a lot of time cross-checking places before choosing the Argonauta. We learned the lesson of DYOR (do your own research) a long time ago and found exactly the right balance for us...Boracay does indeed have some lively areas around the main White Beach, but it also has some wonderful "off the beaten track" locations too (Puka Beach is our favourite - much quieter and with more of a local feel). Everything is within a 100php (about £1.50) sidecar/bike taxi ride. The Argonauta is about 10 minutes ride from the main White Beach area – a little too far to walk but as you can be dropped down in the van, all you need to do is hop on a trike to get back – not all drivers know the Argonauta so we found a good reference point was to say ‘next to Balinghai’, which seems better known because of the beach. The Balinghai hotel is literally next door, the gates of the two grounds adjoin each other. The Balinghai also has a lovely secluded beach which can be accessed by guests of the Argonauta for a daily fee which includes a sunbed. refreshments are available from a small bar and the cost of these is knocked off the entry cost so its a pretty good deal. You need to be escorted by Argonauta staff just to make sure there are no language problems but that’s all – we spent a lovely, quiet afternoon here.

From the beginning when we were picked up at Caticlan airport and guided/driven to the hotel by Argonauta staff, we felt we had made a good choice! On arrival we were still in a Manila-mindset - a bit tired and stressed - so it was nice to start feeling the world slow to a different and more leisurely pace as we sipped cool drinks chatting to Jun, the Manager who is delivering Stefs vision, before being shown to our room. We had chosen a room in the hotel, but can't really comment much on that as we only saw it for about 5 minutes before Jun said the words all travellers long to hear, "we have an apartment that's become free, would you like to take that instead?" We took one look and the answer was a resounding YES PLEASE! The wonderful balcony overhung the hillside and had the most beautiful view of the bay... and those sunsets! We found it hard to leave it as it was such a perfect place to relax. Obviously this upgrade won't happen to everyone, but the golden lesson for us (for next time) is to pay extra for one of the apartments, it truly is worth it for the balcony and vista.

The well-tended grounds all slope down towards the bay, which hopefully will soon be accessible again, which means lots of steps if you want to explore, but delivers those wonderful unobstructed views.

There is a wide choice of breakfasts to suit all tastes, although we had the Healthy option almost every day as it was so good with fresh fruit and home-made yoghurt. You can also ‘dine in’, being served on the terrace with delicious home cooked food, and order fish fresh from the local market. Well worth doing unless you want to schlep down to White Beach or one of the hotels each night.

It should be obvious by now that all the staff are welcoming and friendly, and work as a team to help you enjoy your stay on Boracay. We loved the Argonauta and we will be back!

Room Tip: Spend extra and go for an apartment

I've been to Boracay many times within the past 8 years and stayed in different stations but last year September 8, 2012 I found a sweet spot up the hill in this lovely island. A boutique hotel called Argonauta. It's a few minutes from the beach but so worth the trike up. If you prefer silence and relaxed ambiance away from the mad crowd by the beach , this is the place to go. There are a few different villas within the property. I've stayed both in a hotel room and in one of the villas. Both have the view of the ocean and you can hear the waves too. They have comfort Filipino food served as all day breakfast which are my favorite in their menu. I enjoyed reading my book with a grand view of the ocean while soaking up the sun on their deck and if I wanted to swim in the sea they have a service van that will drive you to your destination for free. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. It is definitely one of my favorite spots and I will continue staying there in my future trips.

What a lovely place this is, the staff were so helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated well above the beach and at the moment there's no direct access but they are happy to transport you to a local beach (also providing a picnic for us!) which is so beautiful and the sunset is amazing.
The views from the garden area are amazing and the staff was very helpful serving our food wherever we liked, in our room, on the veranda area or overlooking the sea.

The only downside we experienced staying here was the wifi connection is unreliable.

Thanks to June and Stephanie and all the staff at Argonauta for a great stay!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Deluxe room with ocean view - it's a good sized room with minibar and a bathroo...

This review is one I have the greatest pleasure in writing.

Arriving after what can only be described as one of the most tiring journeys I have ever had and somewhat experiencing the approach to the hotel surprise, surprise within 5 min I am in my room and settled.

This hotel and its' staff and management are to be congratulated for Customer Focus, and Attention. Indeed if a poll was conducted I would expect everyone to vote 100% on everything this hotel has to offer. Service levels are at the very best too, with nothing you might require a problem or indeed an issue.

To be honest I could write about facilities etc but when you have staff operating at this level everything else is meaningless. The whole experience of my stay was fantastic and to be honest I felt emotional when the staff came to say bye on leaving.

Plans are now well advanced for a small gymnasium and a canopy over one of the rear terrace's so Stephanie and Joan are committed to improving the facilities. Peace and quiet are one of the advantages here so if your looking to chill this is definitely the location for you.

Much to my amazement given my travel experiences - I booked some over priced activities and they sorted it all out for me without fuss. Take note that they have shuttle service to take you where you want to go. Book all activities through them directly, they're extremely helpful and at the right market price.

Finally, of all the readers I hope my comments endorse your desire for the experience you will enjoy at this hotel, for me it was welcoming, caring, relaxing and fond and happy memories.
