“Stay at Willy's”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2006

Willy's is not exactly a 5-star hotel but if you talk about comfort, it is. Talk about Filipino hospitality, the personnel are all professional and courteous. We got the deluxe room with the beach view and it was nice. I'd say, we had an excellent experience at Willy's.

About Boracay, do everything while you are there. Eat a crab at Paradiso, eat a pinakbet at the Bora Seafoods, eat the carbonara at the Hobbit House and eat a sinigang at Willy's. Hewww...there are just a lot of food out there. But of course, keep an eye on your budget too. Go out for an island trip but beware, do not go to the crystal cave island. Paying 100 pesos per person is not really worth it. The place is not good. Just go straight to the snorkelling areas and I bet, you'll have more fun there. And oh, do not forget to bring breaddddd...lots of them! Bring bread and the fishes will come to you. (We had booked our island tour with Willy's and they had provided us with slices of bread) If you could bring a a dozen whole loaf of bread, do it! Then buy the 35 pesos buko at the snorkelling site. The man selling the buko is just riding a surfboard with his bukos and his itak. After drinking the buko juice, ask the same man selling the buko to cut open your buko so you can eat the coco meat. Then go for a jetski for an hour but best of all, take pictures wherever you are! Finally, get drunk! But be responsible. Ahem.

My husband and I stayed at Willy's beach resort from April 28-May 3. We rented their "Grand Premier" room (apparenty, their best room) and the accomodation was fairly decent considering that most, if not all, of the hotels/ bed and breakfast within the island is from one to three star at best. The location of the hotel is by Station 1, but a short distance to Station 2. You don't have to walk a long ways to go to the clubs and bars at night, as oppose to staying at Friday's, for example. The place is quiet and peaceful for a goodnight's sleep, as all hotels by Station 1. I could just assume how horrible it would be for those staying close to the bars and clubs around Station 2 and 3. The room at Willy's was spacious and the bathroom was clean; however, the jacuzzi tub takes a loooong time to fill up. This would not have been a problem if there was a shower in the room but unfortunately, there isn't one. I cannot say the same thing for the rest of the rooms -- I am assuming they have showers instead of a jacuzzi tub. In all fairness, the view from our room was beautiful since we have a HUGE covered veranda with big windows. The staff were all helpful, very friendly, and courteous to say the least.
In addition, the sand at Station 1 IS finer than those at 2 and 3 but there is a bigger moss ("lumot") problem at Station 1 than at 2 or 3. However, we just waded through the moss and stayed further out from the beach, away from everybody else. This was not a prolem since the beach at station 1 is more shallow and goes out further than those that we have visited by stations 2 and 3.
Willys was a decent hotel with really great staff. When it comes to the Stations and their hotels -- I'd say that the best place to get a goodnight's sleep would be at hotels by Station 1 since there won't be music blaring until the wee hours of the morning and it is definitely less crowded. Station 2 would be a great party place -- meet and greet people, which could also be a problem -- too big of a crowd! Then again, if this more your speed then kudos for you! If only people would stop throwing their cigarette butts and candy wrappers everywhere!
All in all, Boracay is a beautiful place to lounge around during the day time and just people watch while sunbathing and a great place to party at night. The beach is beautiful but it is the atmosphere that makes Boracay.

Just came back from a long weekend at Willy's. It is in a fantastic location in station 1, not far from the action but on a quieter part of the beach.
Our room was very clean and had a balcony overlooking the beach and courtyard. It is not luxurious but of a good standard. What I thought was outstanding was the service. The front desk was very helpful with anything we needed from spa reservations, ticket changes, to airport transfers. The waiters and staff were more than helpful with bringing out beach loungers and umbrellas when we needed them. The food was not great but drinks were good, especially during happy hour when its 2 for 1! Overall I was very happy with my stay there!!

we went to this resort just this month of febuary.i like staying at station1 to avoid the crowd at other stations in the island.so willy's resort was one of the places we wanted to go.they gave us cold drinks and a shell necklace to welcome us to their resort,it was charming.we got a deluxe room on the 2nd floor,it was located at the back of the resort.it had a nice communal balcony facing the beach.we noticed as we were walking the hallway to our room, that the wall at the back of the resort(facing the small road) was not high enough to conceal the noise of the tricycles passing-by. it didn't bother us because the room was nicely renovated.but that evening we can't help but hear the loud motor of the tricycles driving-by every couple of minutes.
so the next day we told them the problem and they were very accomodating to transfer us to a nicer room(super deluxe).our new room was at the building on the ground floor but the entrance was at the front facing the beach,we did'nt have any problem sleeping after that.it's a nice and clean resort and the staff were friendly and accomodating but make sure you don't get a room at the back of the resort...

We started our 3-part X'mas/NY holiday vacation with 1 week at the Waikiki Hilton Village resort which was a fun-filled vacation in itself with lots of diving. But my family and I overwhelming enjoyed our stay even more at Willy's Beach Resort in Boracay. We arrived on 12/22/2005 and we were having so much fun that we extended our stay until 12/31/2005. Willy's just finished renovations of the entire resort; therefore, bringing the resort up to par with most contemporary boutique resorts (at this island locale). The resort is also self sufficient with their own solar panel energy system ensuring you get your relaxing hot showers. The staff are very attentive to all of their guests needs from food, room, concierge services down right to laundry needs. It was no surprise that we met a lot of families in the resort who have been coming to Willy's annually for the past 10 years to celebrate their holidays (diversity of European, American and Manila travelers). Also important to note that the staff helped me prepare for a very special birthday dinner for my aunt and helped us whipped up a mango sponge birthday cake directly from their own bakery.

The best part of this resort was its pristine beachfront view known as "White Beach" and the landmark "Willy's Rock" appropriately named since the rock is a part of Willy's resort. The pristine beach sands are so soft that we were walking barefoot during high noon. The grains of the sands were so soft it feels like you were walking in carpet that you don't even feel the heat at all... This resort is located in the peaceful area of boat station 1. However, within the vicinity are Club Paranaw and Cocomangas which is a plus (you can get peace/tranquility or walk over to a house-music or hip-hop club for variety). This resort is family owned and operated and it's no surprise the loyal staffs have been around since the resort opened 11 years ago. Asked for Cherry when making and/or confirming reservations, Sheilah would be happy to help you with your airline confirmations, spa/dinner reservations and other concierge needs, the very hospitable Raquel (one of the 2 daughters who manages the resort) will be there to ensure you enjoy your stay and don't be surprise to see Willy personally grooming the surroundings of this resort which he greatly takes pride even though he already has dozens of staff attending to it.

My sister, husband and I enjoyed diving through-out our stay and New Wave dive shop was just a few steps from Willy's which made our trip more memorable thanks to Jon-jon our dive instructor.

We were sad to move-on with our trip and spent our NY eve in Manila at the Oriental Mandarin Hotel... our hearts wished we were still in Boracay enjoying the swaying palms trees over the sandy beach.

I hope this review helped you. Personally, I take tripadvisor's reviewers comments heavier than the critics.

I recently stayed at Willy's. The rooms were average at best. It wasn't the nicest place on the beach either. However, the quality of service at Willy's was the best I have ever had, anywhere. I didn't have to ask for anything. I simply told the manager there that it was my sister's birthday. The next thing I knew, we had dinner on the beach complete with a feshly baked and decorated cake. We even got a personal guide of the night life around Boracay. All done at no extra charge and with a genuine smile. I finally found a popular resort that's got it right.
