Classic "you get what you pay for" experience, I should have known. This place is right within the residential area of Balabag. This place does not even have a sign to its name. We checked in at a front desk with a sign that read Casa Alonso, the place looked nice. But then we were ushered to another place 20 meters away walking on unpaved muddy path because it was raining when we arrived and that was Lakbayan Hotel. 15 to 20 minutes walk through the village streets would take you to an alley leading to the beach front of Station 1 near Jonah's Fruit Shake and Willy's rock. The room does not have a cabinet to put stuff in, just a pull out drawer under the bed. The bathroom doesn't even have anything to hang clothes or towels on. We ordered overpriced breakfast because we didn't want the trouble of looking for a place to eat so early in the morning and it turned out they don't cook it in-house but just order takeaway from nearby eateries and just deliver it to your room. They don't even serve coffee so we had to go out and buy instant coffee from a store nearby then ask their staff for hot water. Come to think of it, for what we got from this place, just a bed to sleep in and a bathroom to wash in, $20 a night is still a steep price to pay.
