I recently traveled on vacation to the Philippines with a few of my girlfriends. Our flight was about three hours late and surprisingly, a representative from the hotel was still waiting for us when we arrived. He took us to the dock to catch a boat and then to our hotel once we disembarked. The area that we viewed upon approaching the hotel is a bit sketch so naturally we were a little worried. Needless to say, we worried for no reason at all.
The hotel was perfect! There's a guard standing outsideat all times. The beach is around the corner and down the street. It's close enough to the beach to walk but far enough away from the ocean to protect you against typhoons, etc. The detriment was that when it did rain, the side street flooded heavily! But in that case, we just took a motorized bike down the street for 60 pesos or 20 cents. From Bhelenda and Joy at the front desk to the waiters in the restaurant, the staff was both helpful and pleasant. Additionally, there's a salon and a spa on the property. Unfortunately, my friends and I didn't have a good experience at either place. We're still very sore from our massages one week later. And my nails and toes hurt from the cuticles being pushed back too far. I'm hopeful that management at the hotel will pass this along so that the workers will know to be gentler.
Upon entering the six bedroom dormitory style accommodation, we were instantly impressed. In our minds, the room was going to resemble that of a hostel. It didn't! The bunk beds were built-in, sturdy, wooden, and provided each of us with more than enough individual space. The best part was that my bunk mate could climb down from the top bunk without disturbing me. There was a large space in the middle of the room that we designated as our dance floor. =) We even had a balcony with an interesting view of local residences and a small body of water. Unfortunately, the stagnant water located beneath the balcony caused us to have to slaughter about six mosquitoes a day. But nothing bug spray and quick reflexes can't fix! =) Also, there was a problem with the toilet in that it didn't always flush. Again, this is an easy fix. Just call a plumber.
I highly recommend this place to those looking to have a group getaway. Don't even hesitate to book it. JUST DO IT!
