We never thought that we would be checking-in in this hotel. BTW, this isn't just a review, but a summary of our stay at Microtel (this is quite too long).

INTRODUCTION:
I was travelling with my friends, and we were on a very tight budget that made us made an initial booking to one of this "budget friendly" hotels located at station 2. However, after seeing the posts and reviews from tripadvisor, we cancelled our booking, and tried to look for another one that would fit our budget and standards.

My friends and i were trying to look for a hotel with excellent customer service, clean and tidy rooms - with comfy beds, well functioning airconditioning, a cable tv, efficient bathroom, and a pool.

it was my friend who was comparing the hotels at the agoda and saw Microtel as one of the hotels that would fit our budget.

instead of booking at agoda, we visited its website and found this four square package (good for 4 pax with transfers and free activity). It was a good deal, actually, but we checked the reviews first, before we proceed for booking.

Based on the reviews, the service was EXCELLENT, opposite from our first choice.
The photos posted were also the actual photos from the travelers. So its like what you see is what you'll get. We also called up their sales and marketing team to verify the package, and Ms. Gya (most efficient for me) was very helpful to explain us everything, as well as Ms. Ritchyll.

So within 8 hours after seeing their deal, we immediately booked for the four square package, thats for July 3-5, 2013.

OUR EXPERIENCE:

We arrived via Kalibo, and we're actually not sure if who will be the one to pick us up at the airport. I called up our contact person at the hotel and she immediately informed us that their affiliated vendor for transfers is waiting for us outside the arrival area.

From Kalibo to Caticlan port, we were transported via Bus. The moment we arrived Caticlan port area, Kuya Marlon (this jolly and witty representative of Microtel) assisted us and immediately helped us with our stuffs. He was always smiling, even if you can see in him that he's tired already as he's been waiting there for hours (because our flight was delayed). He was very well known. looks like he is Mr. Congeniality, giving high five, continuously greets every person that he knows in the port and along out ay to the hotel. BTW, the package includes all the fees upon check in in at Caticlan Port Area, including the terminal Terminal Fee so you don't have to worry for these fees. So from there, we were transported via ferry boat to jetty port. Then there was this Microtel van waiting for us, and Kuya Marlon was still the one to drive the van. We were his only guests during that time, so the whole van was ours (kidding aside).

Upon arrival, he together with their security team assisted us upon checking in. checking in was a breeze - as dubbed by others. I love how the front desk officers are well trained! I forgot the name of the one who assisted us at the front desk. Kuya Marlon even handed us these cold mint-scented towels to freshen up (see, he's an all around guy). I was busy processing our payment at the hotel to acknowledge the person who gave us the welcome drinks. Whoever you are, thank youuuu!

We would like to thank Kuya Marlon, but he disappeared. Maybe he needs to assist other guests as well. So one of the security helped us with our stuffs and led us to our room.

We were expecting that there would be no view for our room since only the "premier beachfront rooms" have the good views, but much costly than the deluxe room-the one we have booked. We were surprised as we were directed to room 203... If you'll look at the picture of the hotel, the 2nd balcony from the left (at the second floor) was our room. Our room was upgraded from deluxe to premier beachfront without incurring additional charges! maybe because of my request for a second floor room with nice view, since it looks like they do not have guests booked on that room during our stay. We felt blessed indeed!

The room was okay, and the tv was flat screen, maybe the photo wasnt updated yet. The air condition functions well, as well as the bathroom's toilet and shower.

They also offer free flowing coffee and water (mineral water and not the usual tap water that the other hotels used to offer), however this is for self service only, which is still acceptable. why complain, if you could have as many coffee and water as you want.

They offer shuttle service from the hotel to budget mart/dmall and vice versa, but you have to book it first with them. we find it easy because their front desk team is one call away for shuttle bookings.

The location was quite far from the white beach, but what's good is, you have your own beach, which they called the Diniwid beach. The sand isnt as fine as the one at white beach, but it makes you feel that you have your own. There was this passage from diniwid to station 1, along the lime stones and is good for strolling. But if you're with the oldies and kids, go and book for the shuttle.=)

They also have a pool! What i love about the pool is that most of the kids can enjoy here. They also have this stuffs for kids, pale and shovel for sand castle making... This hotel isnt just for group of friends, but also best for families traveling with laid back oldies and kids.

The daily breakfast was not as good as others. It was plain but acceptable. I hope they could focus on their plated breakfasts... by adding more meals to choose from or a mini buffet?=)

We love how their team assists us. The housekeeping team was very efficient to make up our room on a short period of time.

On our 2nd night, there was this heavy rain that made us stay at the hotel. We decided to ask for a delivery from yellow cab, and they even assisted the delivery boy to our room. They were actually calling us to inform us that the delivery was already there. We thought, we're just to busy with our games not to notice the phone ringing. But this helpful staff(forgot his name) immediately change our phone. (i told you, excellent service).

On our last day, one of my fiends wasnt feeling well, so the staff from the hotel's resto told us that we could bring my friends breakfast in our room.

Also, they assisted us for our chosen activity. As per the coupon, it was just for "bug car", but upon finishing our ride at the bug car, we were directed to the butterfly museum and happy dreamland. Its more than what we expected.=)

We also asked for a late check out, since we were not able to buy souvenirs because of the heavy rain. They permitted us and asked us to check out late, until 1pm. Then, Ms. Gya assisted us and asked us to leave our stuffs at the lobby so that we can do the shopping. They also told us that they'll just pick us up at the dmall on a designated time (having our stuffs on board) to transfer us directly at Jetty Port.

Upon arrival at Jetty Port, Kuya Dante was waiting for us (the counterpart of Kuya Marlon). The difference between him and Kuya Marlon, is that he was bigger than Kuya Marlon, and a bit serious. But he was able to assist us well and assure that everythings' ok... before he left, he made sure that we are ok and the passes for the bus are well distributed. Then he finally bid his sweet goodbye.

And that's our Microtel Experience.♥

At first i told myself that if ever i will be coming back with my family, i would prefer my other target hotels that are above our current budget. But after our experience with Microtel, i would definitely come back and have my parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, and cousins and even everyone that i know to experience the excellent service that i have experienced.

To the whole staff of Microtel, many may thanks, and we wish and pray that you could bless more guests through your excellent, ideal Filipino-quality type of service, the way you did during our stay!

Again, best wishes to your team and God bless!

Room Tip: We looove the beach front room at the second floor, and yes because of the view.♥♥♥ They also have this rooms that are attached to another room-best for those travelling with their family.

We stayed at Boracay last year for Summer and it was memorable. Our stay at Microtel was very relaxing and peaceful. We have a connecting rooms with our friends. The rooms are big and clean. It was perfect all over. The breakfast is great. It was beachfront and we have a relaxing and peaceful stay when we're in Boracay. Though its far from the party places, we didn't mind coz our reason for stay is to relax.

My family of 5 stayed at the Microtel and had a fantastic vacation. To be honest, the rooms are incredibly spartan and utilitarian, however, clean, and we frankly were there only to sleep. The in-hotel restaurant was great and had many choices for children. The service was incredibly gracious and quick and actually much better than at the more expensive hotels our friends chose. In particular, the quiet end of the beach where it is located is not as good for people watching as it is farther down but much more child friendly and relaxing and not crowded. Additionally, we had bar waitress service at the beach. The price is phenomenal which for our family of 5 made it possible to take this vacation.

The hotel is located in Diniwid Beach, a small secluded beach area located after Station 1 going northwest. It is separated from Station 1 by a limestone formation that cut it from the long beach (stations 1-3). There is a pathway around the limestone formation towards the long beach. The D' Mall is around 25-30 minutes walk along the beach from the hotel during low tide passing thru the entire length of Station 1, Willy's Rock, the night life strip, Elizalde's Property, etc. If high tide, its quite difficult in some areas but still passable.

The beach gradient is steeper compared to the long beach (Stations 1-3), better have your kids in close supervision. The sand quality is comparable to station 1 or even finer. Seaweeds? it depends on the season. During our stay, there only a handful of tourist in this area.

For the hotel, there are welcome drinks upon check-in and the staff will brief you immediately about the services the hotel provide to guest like free flowing coffee at the lobby, free water and ice, free shuttle service to the D mall, free wifi, complimentary breakfast, availability of newspaper in the lobby, etc.

The rooms are clean, so as the bedding. Toiletries are provided such as soap, shampoo, toothbrush, etc. Towels are likewise clean, with hot and cold shower, drinking water and ice is free from a dispenser, coffee is free from the lobby, uses electronic key card to open the door and and extra card for the room electricity (just in case you want to leave your aircon on when you leave your room).

It has a small pool near the beach front along with the open air hotel restaurant. Complimentary breakfast is serve in this restaurant. We usually have our lunch and dinner outside, then we have our lunch here prior to checking out and to my surprise, the food was good or even better than well known restaurant in Boracay.

What set this hotel above the rest are the staff, very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

PS, if you want a quite place and already tired from the crowded and noisy area of the long beach, this is a good place to stay considering its price and service.

I love this hotel, it's the second year we've stayed in the microtel. The staff are what make this place so brilliant, nothing is too much trouble. One girl, Pam who works in the bar and restaurant was fantastic she looked after us brilliantly for our stay. The beds are amazing, the only problem with them is you won't want to get out of it in the morning! The rooms are quite basic but are kept clean and tidy.
The hole hotel offers a totally relaxing experience, it's nice to be able to get away from station 2 (D- mall) as sometimes it can be quite busy and loud. The hotel offers a free shuttle, which we had no problems with at all, or you can take a trike for 100 pesos which we thought was very good value.
The food and drink in the restaurant and bar was very good value for money, the meals were quite big portions. The bar offers happy hour (buy one get one free drinks) from 4pm- 8pm which was good. The only thing that lets this place down is the breakfast, it's not great, very bland and boring and no choice of cooked breakfast it's just whatever's being cooked on that day, although you can have a continental/ French breakfast if you choose.
This hotel is fab for couples or family's. if you've come to boracay to party and aren't willing to travel to get there then this isn't the hotel for you, if you want relaxation then I would definitely recommend. You can't beat this place for value for money, it offers everything you want for a very good price.
We love microtel boracay and will definitely be returning in may for our 3rd year! :)
