“Pleasant stay but ...”
Reviewed 31 July 2011

Courteous and attentive staff, spacious clean rooms with complete toiletries (sun block included), 32" flat TV, excellent airport/port and in town shuttle services, good sized pool and spa, welcome drinks/fruits/pastries and foot wash was a pleasant surprise ...but breakfast buffet was so so, same with dinner buffet (not worth the price), dining service is average and appeared short staffed and nowhere else to go within walking distance except the beach. If you like good accommodation in a quiet scenic part of Boracay, far from the maddening crowd on peak months, this would be it. But consider dining elsewhere. Cheers.

My husband and I walked around Station 1 looking for a place to stay and after checking out most of the other resorts, decided to go for Discovery Shores after seeing their rooms and facilities. It was low season and all the other resorts were offering special rates and freebies and since they were having a construction renovation going on, we asked if they could throw in something special for us. The front desk looked lost and incapable of making a decision and kept on running in and out of the office to check with the manager (Mabeth - avoid her at all cost).. after the 4th run, we asked if we could speak to the manager directly and she reluctantly came out. In the end she said that she was going to give us a complimentary 60 minute massage which we negotiated up to 90 minutes. We then checked in to the hotel and happily started our vacation.

Little did we know that it was about to turn 180 degrees - we booked for the spa that evening and told them that we were there for our complimentary massage and after about 30 minutes of waiting while they coordinated with the front desk for this, they came back and said that Mabeth had only given us 1 free massage while the other had to pay!! It was the most ridiculous thing - it was as if they told us we had a free meal in the restaurant but the other person had to pay!! After another round of negotiating with Mabeth and her ridiculous offer and after getting "approval" - she finally agreed to give us 2 massages for 60 minutes but at that point, our hopes of having a stress free holiday and relaxing massage was gone.

It is really a pity to see such a nice space and the beautiful beach of Boracay to have upper management that do not understand customer service. The waiters, bartenders, pool attendant were all very nice and friendly but the front desk is in serious need of training especially in customer service. And if Mabeth gives the training, I wish them the best of luck as hardware will only get you so far.

Room Tip: Get the rooms near the pool...

The moment you arrived at Caticlan Airport, you'll be met by Discovery Shores staff and we were surprised to get a very nice bracelet as souvenir with discovery shores on it. The beach is lovely and our room is soooo nice and comfy! We were given complimentary foot wash plus welcome drinks, welcome gifts and a surprise bday cake for my mom and kids. The staff are all very good and warm. Kids had fun attending their afternoon activities and swimming in their pool. We just wish that the kiddie room is bigger :D
One of the things that I like most about the resort is that in house guests have complimentary ride going to & from other stations. So convenient!!!

Had a great time with my son and some friends. Service, quality.....excellent. Dinner Buffet was just ok. It seems like they only give out the grilled prawns to a select few. The kids enjoyed the pool so much. Benjie the pool guy was great and the rest of the staff. Dont forget happy hour for the drinks.... buy one get one free. For massages better to have it from outside. Costs a lot lot less. About 400.

Room Tip: Better to book with a travel agent.

we had a very nice welcome dance, refreshing drink and cold towel. the beach front view is sooo relaxing! we were about 5 couples and we were all so delighted with the excellent and personal service they gave us.
would really recommend to all traveling to boracay.
we played billiards, cards, sang songs in the ktv room till early morning... so much fun!
then when we relax in the pool area, they will refresh your face with moisturizer and water spray and then give a flower to put on your hair =)
food and drinks were great!
the rooms were all nice, clean, soft huggable pillows, relaxing bed very nice ambiance. you get a welcome foot massage too =)

One of the better hotels in Boracay. Won best in its class of "Worlds Small Hotels." The free foot spa was a welcome treat for the whole family, along with the welcome drinks. Luxurious modern rooms. Nice pool. The hotel has a good wide and deep white-sand beach, where one can watch great sunsets. The higher floor rooms have the great views, and the ground level rooms have close proximity to the beach and pool. We chose the lower leveled rooms. The staff are very helpful and quick to respond to requests

This afternoon after we took the long walk from the white beach, we decided to sit in front of the beach or swimming pool and ordered some drinks. But they closed all of the chairs and umbrellas at 5pm. No place can sit and there's a rain shower this afternoon. We then went to a table in the open air resturant but the waiter told us the tables are reserved for the dinner at 7pm. Imagine that, we and 2 children suddenly didn't know where we can go. There's no place we can sit in the public area of the hotel. All of the umbrella near the benches were closed and it's raining. No one intended to help. Finally, we decided to go back to the room directly.
