“Must see in Cebu”
Reviewed 17 June 2013

This is where the locals go to get there fruit, meat, veggies - it is crazy busy - the locals seem to go anytime, but more people are there during night so I would go during the day. There are so many stores and market booths everywhere so take a day to peruse everywhere - I still wont take my kids with me but enjoy going to find a good deal.

“It can be interesting, if you are open minded”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

Unfortunately, my office is near the market, and I am not satisfied with its transformation. Yes, it is cleaner, safer, and more organized than over a decade ago. But it is still dirty, still unsafe (watch out for some kids who will prey on people they think are not regulars), traffic congestion starting at 6pm. I have seen markets in different parts of China, in Thailand, in Australia, in Germany, and even other local markets in provincial Philippines. A lot of them are cleaner, more organized, and safer than carbon market. A lot of peripheral streets have been transformed into a makeshift night market, but its not the night market that are set up in a lot of other places. Its a no nonsense, down to earth wet and dry market.

However, it is still interesting to go, just keep your mobile phones in your pockets, and remove your jewelries to minimize temptation. A lot of bargains can be purchased here.

“Interesting Place with Local Color”
Reviewed 17 February 2013

I understand that the Mayor of Cebu, Michael Rama, was responsible for cleaning up this market. Kudos to him, because this is a very interesting wet market, selling fruit, vegetables, flowers, meats, as well as souvenir items. The Carbon market is close to the historic section of Cebu, and makes for a great photo opportunity for those who want to capture local color in their pictures.

“Carbon Market -the BIGGEST WET MARKET”
Reviewed 24 July 2012

Many of you, especially TOURISTS who just stayed in CEBU for a FEW DAYS, sure have many negative things to say about CARBON MARKET..You would say that it
1. is DIRTY

First of all, I would say that these ideas or impressions of yours CAN BE TRUE to some sense.
I cant blame you guys...but first you must know that facts that CARBON MARKET

Have you ever thought of that? So, there you can find many kinds of raw products embarked from ships and lorries from different regions..would u expect that it would be SUPER clean ALWAYS?? Common..set aside your arrogance and face it..im sure even in your respective countries's big wet markets arent THAT CLEAN EITHER,..believe me ..i have visited SOME countries already and they are ALL THE SAME.

2. is not IDEAL FOR TOURISM because there is no need for you to see what we normally have for consumption..if you want to check out some busy areas and cheap DRY GOODS... go to COLON STREET...I guess many tourist misunderstood the information they read online..that they can go to CARBON MARKET for shopping.. Cant blame them...because COLON STREET is just adjacent to CARBON MARKET...next time..please READ THE THE STREET SIGN.

3. Carbon is not as dangerous as what you think...this is 21th century..and thieves are not on the street anymore. I have recommended COLON AREA to my foreign friends ..and so far nothing bad happened to them..I think..when you travel ANYWHERE around the world..extra caution is required. :)

4. is indeed heavily congested during RUSH HOUR...so why go there those times??

5. not a FINE DINING or even a DINING place...oohhh geezzzzzzzz....

To all readers, respect the differences and appreciate the similarities . Peace y'all
