“Not Worthy Of The Price You Pay”
Reviewed 23 September 2010

Stayed for two nights during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri and school holiday in Singapore. Must wait till almost 6.00 pm to check in due to their rooms were all occupied.

The Location - very near to Universal Studio. Easy access to Harbour Front and Vivo City.

The Deluxe Room - the room with twin bed was not too big but quite spacious because of the room's interior design. The beds were very comfortable. The cleanliness of the room was well kept. There were hair dryer, iron and ironing board in the room.

Our room was on 10th floor and had small (very small balcony), but the view outside was only roof and the jet coaster at Universal Studio. No good view can be seen from the balcony. Perhaps that's why they only built small balcony.

Another con was the air conditioned in the room. The room was so cold at night even we had set the temperature to 30 degree celsius.

The Toilet - comes with hand and rain shower. Switching between hand and rain shower was a bit confusing. Also setting the water temperature could be a bit erratic. Usual toiletries were provided. Cleanliness was okay.

When we stayed there, the room next to ours was under construction. So, it was a bit noisy during daylight.

The swimming pool was small.

Our staying at Hotel Michael was not to enjoyable.

First try in RWS, since already stayed in a Hard Rock Hotel chain previously, decided to try this chic-boutique hotel.

Cleanliness : Room is very clean, and since it's still pretty new, nothing much to say here. At least it is well kept, and hopefully it will be.Outside the room, still clean overall.

Location : Probably the best in RWS I think, smack in the center of everything. So it's easy to get around.

Rooms : The room is not big, but spacious enough due to how it was designed. The beds / sheets / pillows are very cozy. The toilets are ok, providing the usual toiletries. Controlling water temperature during shower seems tricky, not sure if that's the thing, or the temperature just swings time to time on it's own.

Service : The front desk staff is friendly, others seems quite busy, and you may not get a 'smile' or hello when they come across you. That's about it. If you plan to have a late snack, then better go down and bring in some, coz you can't get such service in the room.

Sleep Quality : the beds are cozy, so it's ok. Our room was facing the atrium, and there was 'some' construction outside, though didn't really other much.

Value : I guess what is really being paid for here is the location. Not much ammenities, no room service for food, limited restaurants available. So the best is just to return to your room to rest and sleep. Other than that, stay outside and have fun.

Overall, it's ok, just a little pricey. But if it's the location, location, location ... and you're willing to shelve out a little more, then it's a good candidate.

Stayed for one night in Hotel Michael with my boyfriend and I wasn't all that impressed with this hotel. The lobby and the overall design of the hotel was nice, but nothing extraordinary. The rooms were on the small side and were just okay. There was still some construction going on outside, so you hear loud construction noises in the room during the day. No free internet and no room service. Hotel buffet breakfast was just okay, not a lot of variety. The staff were nice but they really need to get their act together to offer faster and better service. We wanted to watch the show "Voyage de la Vie" so we asked the concierge if there were still tickets available for that date, and we were told that of course there were tickets available. They made us walk over to the Festive Grand to buy the tickets ourselves, only to find out that all tickets for the show for that month were sold out long ago! First of all, it would have been nice if they actually had the correct information and second of all, I thought the entire point of having a concierge was to make it easier for guests to have access to information like this. We were hugely disappointed. For the price you pay, you would expect better service. Given, it's a newly opened hotel but they need to be competitive and give people value for their money. The location is great though, if you wish to explore Sentosa and Universal Studios. They'll probably improve in the next coming months, but when we stayed there, we just weren't impressed.

Generally, the hotel does not give a posh feel when you enter the lobby (which I expect it would considering that the price is higher than Hard Rock). I reckon its supposed to be Greek/Roman settings but somehow still lacking something to give you that exact feel.

The hotel is still undergoing construction and when we entered our room, we could hear drilling noises. After tolerating for 30mins, we decided to request for a change of room which was attended to and granted promptly (commendable effort on the hotel management part). Another con: No good view can be seen from the room window which is a letdown.

An In-Room Dining fast dial was provided in the first room but was not there at the second room and when we checked with guest services was told it is not available.
But food and drinks are widely available within the resort hence this is not so much of an issue (we tried Chillis and RamenPlay).

I also second others' thoughts that the shampoo+conditioner and bath gel were provided in rather cheap looking bottles. But at least the bathroom is new hence not unpleasant (though there is a musky in the standing shower).

The Simmons bed is very comfortable and there were enough TV channels provided to keep one entertained.

Overall, I actually regretted agreeing to a free upgrade to Hotel Michael from Hard Rock. Went to check out Hard Rock the next day and actually liked it better. The pool and the room balcony wins everything over. Also quite irritated that RWS website did not provide much pictures for one to make comparisons and we have to depend purely on reviews and descriptions.

Would consider Hard Rock if we are going back there again but I think your money could be better spent at Marina Bay Sands. Just my two-cents worth.

Stayed at the Resorts World Sentosa with my family in which is located Hotel Michael. For the money that we paid we could have easily got a lot of 5 star well renowned chains and properties to stay in, but we opted for this hotel thinking it would be a different experience with it being new and near to all attractions of Singapore. Only until we got there that we realised that there is nothing to it. NO ROOM SERVICE and when I am saying it I mean completely nothing, not even the free complimentary water was being delivered. The rooms are small and not so great. The staff is of not much help and the management whom we complained to said that there is not adequate staff. Would definitely suggest staying inside Singapore city for this price and travel to Sentosa island which is so very near to the city for its attractions which includes the newly opened Universal Studio. As of now even the basic facilities like the swimming pool are under construction.Apart from this work on site starts at abt 8.30 in the morning making it impossible to sleep till late.
