Traveled with hubby and 3 kids (11, 8 and 5 y/o). Read many bad reviews about this hotel, so was kinda prepared for it. But perhaps it was my lucky day, or perhaps I have lower expectations than others, but I thought that the hotel was really good!

Location: If you are traveling with kids to USS, this would be a good place, as it is right only 2-3 minutes walk away. As you can also go in and out of USS the whole day, the nearby hotel would come in handy for those who need privacy for bathroom breaks, prayers etc.

Check in: arrived at 4.30 p.m. Despite it being a weekend (and a long Malaysian weekend too), there wasn't many guests at the check in counter. Maybe coz I was checking in quite late after the official checking in time, but it was such a breeze. I just showed the lady at the counter my confirmation slip, she keyed in a few things in a computer, and gave us 2 key cards. All done in less than 3 minutes. Nice!

Room: Agreed with some comments that the corridors were really long. So if someone got a room at the very end, it would be quite a walk. But we were lucky as we got one that was not far from the lift lobby. There was also an ice machine near the lift lobby. And agree that room is smaller than it appears in the pictures, but it served our purpose perfectly. 1 king sized bed, 1 loft bed (that could actually fit 2 kids - they were fighting on who gets to sleep there. In the end both of the older kids did). The sofa bed was actually quite ok. Bathroom was also clean and had a good shower. Very considerate, as they had both the Bible and the Kiblat direction in the room.

Service: Quite good actually. And friendly, in a Singaporean business-like sorta way. They also sent up the kids' bathrobes and slippers, which was nice. And the kids got a kick when they switched on the TV and there was a personalized welcome message for us. Nice personal touch! And the channel selection was good too. There was Cartoon Network for the kids, and Sports for the hubby.

Food: Didn't get to sample their breakfast.. partly because we were only given 2 adult vouchers, partly because we weren't sure whether it was halal, and partly because we wanted to get a head start at USS and didn't wanna waste time at the hotel.

Check out: Was also a breeze. Checked out at about 10.30 a.m. There were a few guests in front of us, but we were done in less than 10 minutes. And we easily caught a cab at the front door.

Overall: Very nice. Would recommend to anyone traveling with kids.

This hotel is probably ok for families, in fact it was overrun with them when I was there. Problem is, it's part of a complex with a convention center adjacent to the Universal Studios park on Sentosa. The lobby is always full of people, there's even an area for kids to watch videos on a large screen to keep them somewhat calm. The breakfast restaurant is noisy with loud Mexican and Brazilian music, and of course kids. The buffet food was pretty bad and the service was worse, but you can't blame the employees since they have to run around and serve so many families and kids. So if you're going because of an event at the convention center, pick the Hardrock Hotel or any other, but not this one.

Room Tip: The rooms are all about the same, red is the predominant color with blue and white orchids on the ceiling above the bed, and a tiny closet under the bunkbed ladder.

The decor looks a bit stale and the ceiling lampshades in the foyer were very dusty - the breakfast lounge overlooks them. After reviewing the prospectus, it turns out the hotel is only open since January 2010 but feels much older. The service at reception was slow. The bedrooms were quite dark and the lighting was low so it never felt uplifting or gave off a happy, child friendly atmosphere. The loft bed was a lovely touch to the room, the kids enjoyed that. We stayed in most nights as we have children and when we looked for 2 wine glasses for the room the staff were taken aback and charged us for them too! Never had this happen before in any hotel worldwide.
Breakfast was mediocre, it finished at 10:30 and by 10:25 the chefs were clearing up and putting the food warmers away. The beverages had to be ordered at a counter in the back of the room, service slow and coffee was awful, tea was worse. No wifi in rooms disappointing in this day and age. Sister hotel 'Hard Rock' was a much more appealing hotel with so much more to offer. The pool at the Festive was closed one evening from 6pm to all guests as they had a private conference group booked in to make use of the pool side & all residents were told they could not use the pool.

We reached at 10am, registered with the check-in staff and was told that they will call our mobile once our rooms are ready. When there was still no news from the hotel at 2pm, we returned to find a long queue of guest waiting to check-in. Staff were deployed to control the queue and we were informed to queue at a "faster lane" since we have already registered but noticed that all other queues moved faster than ours! Some guests far back in the queue refused to wait and argued with the staff. It was resolved when they were sent to the member counter to be attended to immediately.

Our rooms are adjacent to each other but was told that only 1 room is ready while housekeeping is working on the other. We agree to take 1 key 1st and asked that they inform us when the other is ready. While waiting in our 1st room, we noticed that the housekeeping had completed the adjacent room at 4pm so we called the check-in counter to enquire about the key to our 2nd room, only to be told that they have "accidentally released our 2nd room to other guest". We were being assigned another room which is at the other end of the corridor (far from the 1st room) and only managed to get the 2nd room after 5pm.

The unpleasant check-in experience aside, all kids are given a goody pack upon arrival and there's a kids section at hotel lobby which screen cartoon/movies to entertain children while parents are busy with check-in (I guess it's required since check-in process took so long?) so this kinda compensated the frustration.

Rooms are fantastic with nice furnishings & amenities and comes with a king size bed, loft bed and sofa bed (queen size when open up). I do feel that the bed is too soft so if you are a light sleeper and had to share the bed, you can expect a disrupted sleep as the other person's movement is easily felt.

The pool at Festive Hotel is normal but you can walk over to the pool at Hard Rock Hotel which has more facilities and is more fun for kids. Many eating places at the RWS but seats are limited so we opt to buy back to eat in our rooms instead.

Check-out process is smoother but still expect some amount of queuing and waiting time.

I stayed in Deluxe family room with my colleagues. From the picture, the room is concerned big..enough for 5 people to pack in.

Yes the double bed, one folded sofa and one small bed on the sofa can fit in 5 people. But the space is not enough to round about.

The hotel is one of the hotels in Resorts World Sentosa, so you can easily walk to Universal Studios even can "sneak" to Casino at night.

Still one complex in the hotel, there is Festive Walk where branded shops are available.

This hotel is worth to stay one or two nights with the family.
