This is a neat place, although not too many visitors come to it. No crowds, wonderful history and replicas of artifacts make for an interesting visit esp if you are a history buff. The Typhoon Theatre attraction is a decent add-on for just $3, it's a cool 4D experience.
Enjoyed it right up to the 4D ship experience where we realise we had a choice. 4D or the pirates in the ship because when you finish the 4D they spit you out at the end of the ship so you'd have to exit and walk through the entire exhibit again to reach the pirate ship.
I think they renew the museum, it gets a bit larger than before (i think before it's free if you buy sea aquarium ticket). It's a godd museum with interactive explanation. you can also experience a typhoon in a ship with additional fee. But i think coming here once is enough.
When returning from Sentosa island after a long day at Universal Studios, I decided to stop by at MEM to see what the fuss was all about and to be frank it was kind of disappointing. Although the place is well maintained and has a lot of information about Singapore history and trade, most of the artifacts on display weren't even real.
The Typhoon Theatre, costing 3 SGD additionally over the entry ticket was a savior. Although not spectacular, it was still enjoyable. Overall, you could give it a visit if you're a history enthusiast but otherwise you're not really missing out on a lot.
Do experience the typhoon theatre. It is a wonderful attraction to experience, but the museum is quite average.
I thought that this museum was reasonably priced at $12 entry (compared to other attractions in Singapore) and was fun and interesting. Lots of information and several interactive displays. The typhoon theatre (an extra $3) was well worth it. It is worth taking the time to read and listen to the displayed info. I would go again - really liked it.
