“Spacious rooms and beautiful grounds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

This resort was a beautiful tropical oasis in Singapore. The grounds are large and the gardens well established and maintained. It is quiet and calm and the perfect place to get away and relax. The rooms are dated but they are very spacious and comfortable. The look of the pool is ruined a bit by the swimming lane ropes that are in place and I'd question whether those are really required but overall it is still a nice space with plenty of sun loungers.

We ate in both The Terrace and The Pavilion, the food in both was great. I especially like the laid back vibe of The Pavilion and the fish and chips dish was delicious!

If you want to venture out of the resort they provide great transportation options via a free shuttle to VivoCity (a large shopping mall with many restaurants) and Paragon (another mall on Orchard Rd). The Sentosa Island free transportation options can also easily be utilized, with one of the island bus routes coming to the resort and easy access to the beach tram via the stairs near the pool.

A good option for breakfast outside of the hotel is to catch the beach tram to Siloso Beach, Coastes is a great beach bar that serves breakfast. Beware that most F&B outlets at VivoCity only open from 11am so this is not a good option for breakfast unless you wanted Starbucks.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and had no complaints.

This is a hotel that I have always wanted to stay in because of its vast and beautiful grounds. For a hotel in Singapore to have that amount of land and direct access to beach, it's quite unbelievable.

Unfortunately, the hotel was built in earlier days when bathrooms are windowless and there are no balconies for the rooms to maximise the views from the rooms. The entry foyer in the room is also such a wasted space.

I hope that the new renovation will result in some big changes that will capitalise on its strengths. Big windows, spacious balconies and more seating areas around the residences. Presently, there is no seating at all along all the wide corridor spaces. While the grounds are beautiful, there are no intimate nooks or inviting seating areas. If I wish to read and just chill out, I have to be sitting by the pool or in one of the restaurants.

There is so much potential that has yet to be tapped.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay. The bed was super comfy.

The front desk staff was very helpful. Allan helped me to move my room when I requested for a change. He carried my bag up the stairs rather than wait for Housekeeping or Bell-boy. I really appreciate the prompt and helpful attitude.

This is a jewel in Sentosa. I really look forward to coming back after the renovations, including the spa which is now closed.

Room Tip: Rooms in the west wing have a nice garden view of matured trees. Very private too.

Went to Singapore Resort last weekend for staycation. External looks nice, peaceful, greeted by peacocks the minute we checked in to our room. Internal needs refurbishing (heard it's starting to do in Sep). Breakfast was normal buffet - no special call-out. I would come back again after the hotel has refreshed. Love the environment.

We were upgraded to villa, very appreciated. It has a huge private garden with swimming pool, 2 seperate bedrooms with huge bathroom, bathtub and even outdoor shower area. It was absolutely wonderful staying in this hotel, we enjoyed having breakfast outdoor while peacocks and birds flying around, my kids love it. Just a little far from Sentosa island, but shuttle bus available, not too inconvenient.

We stayed at this resort for a week of r&r following a hectic trip to Oz.

The location was great, far enough away from the city to get peace and quiet but near enough to pop in and out when you like. The grounds are lovely and it's great to mingle amongst the peacocks and look at the Koi carp in the many ponds.

Swimming pool area is good and the rooms are of a good standard.

The staff are absolutely amazing.

Note, this hotel is to undergo massive renovation. It urgently needs it and it will be amazing when it's done. We were unaware of this when we made the booking and when we expressed a little displeasure about our room, management could not do enough for us to make our stay more pleasurable.

If yu want to be just that little bit away from Singapore city centre, do stay here, you'll have a great time!

Tip - order a taxi well in advance as they don't like coming over to Sentosa!!

We stayed here for two nights with our one year old and while it is an attractive hotel with generous sized rooms, which afford you privacy, we found the service to be very average and the food to be very overpriced. Nor were there any activities for a one year old. The pool while lovely for adults, did not have a shallow end suitable for a toddler. So whilst this would be a good choice for people without children who don't mind overpaying for food and service in order to get an attractive big private room, I would not recommend it for families with young children.
