Very affpordable "hotel" in Singapore. Clean bedding. Reasonable breakfast. Do not expect very much but if you need a very affordable place to stay it's an excellent choice. Located outside of the city's busy center so more or rustic feeling compared with the cty center.

Stayed here in April 2013 and I can only repeat what others have said. The internet connection whether the office connection or the guest connection hardly worked adding a significant amount to my roaming fees (which if I factored in over 3 days would have legitimized a stay in a more costly hotel). I was lucky enough to face away from the dog kennels - my colleagues were not and thus were awoken every morning at dawn by the barking.

My biggest problem - I could actually have my room broken in to. On the first day, somehow my door double locked. But thank goodness (!) I lived on the first floor - custodian grabbed a ladder and pushed open the windowand let himself in to let me in. Staff service was indifferent to apathetic to hostile.

The breakfast buffet was mediocre at best and also difficult to get a taxi at any time although the restuarant/bar just up the path was very decent. All in all, I would not recommend this to anyone.

Room Tip: Face away from the dog kennel

Unfriendly front desk, lack of hot water, damaged and rusted equipment in the toilet, roughest toilet paper in the world, dogs barking in the morning, bad selection of TV channels etc. Enough said. Intended for a quiet weekend getaway to finish up some research work which led me instead to check out quickly the next morning.

Room Tip: Avoid at all cost! Don't even think about it.

We needed a hotel for weekend and the prices were very high in the downtown. We liked the pictures of the hotel in internet, so quickly booked it for a reasonable price.
But something different expected us there. The room was pretty small. The air conditioner was very noisy and it was not possible to set in the way to not get the cold air directly in direction of the bed. The bed was very uncomfortable, we got back pain. The bathroom was dirty and very small and struggled a lot to set up the water heater, either it was cold or burning.
The breakfast... first morning we went down at 9.30 am and it was almost nothing to eat. Second morning we went early, but you had to quickly pick up all your food, otherwise you didn't get enough again. Juice and fruits were definitely very less.

Was here in january 2012.

Do NOT trust the pictures you see on the website. It is not as it seems.
If you're backpacking i guess this is a good place to stay. But if you're in town on vacation for a week do not go here. Our shower didn't work, when it did work it was icecold and low pressure. The windows didn't close properly with an added bonus that little salamanders came in and hid behind the AC machine.
The cleaning man was not rude but didn't say a word even when I tried to wish him a good day. The madam at the breakfast buffet was just not happy with peoples' presence it seemed. The breakfast was really underwhelming. I recommend just going to a food court in town.

If you're unlucky like we were, you will get stuck in a room that looks out on a next door pool.. it's not just a pool, it's a pool for dogs. Next door there is a dog care centre. You will get awoken at 7 AM by 30 something dogs, barking and jumping in the pool.
On your key to your room there is a picture the lodge and a pool, i am assuming this is the dog pool photoshopped in.

I can go on but i think this suffices.

This is an old, over prized hotel. Where they got the 3 stars from, I have no idea.
The rooms are small, no window! and the walls are paper thin, you hear everything from your neighbors. It is ok clean, not more than that. The beds are comfortable though. Internet is horrible. Tv has some English channels. For the rest there are no other facilities. Our Ac broke down, internet did not work and the neighbors drove us crazy. The bathroom is small and they use a boiler, there is hardly any hot water, or if you open the tab just a bit then it is warm, but you can not call this a shower. The breakfast is so bad! I do not understand why it has to be this bad. Across the street there is an Italian bakery! But instead you get old, supermarket toast, some fresh fruit if you are not too late. And a rice/noodle dish. Coffee, well it is black and that is it. If there is a group staying, then you have to get up very early! otherwise there is no food left and you have to search for the breakfast lady.
People are friendly, but don't know what service is.
The location is outside the center and there is hardly any transportation.
Difficult at times to catch a cab and you have to walk for 8 minutes to get to a bus stop.
Maybe in 1756 this was a nice "lodge" and there were many horses, but the stalls are turned into a yoga/music schools etc. There are maybe 3 ponies. On the other side there is a dog kennel! so the whole day you hear 30 dogs barking. So if you sleep on the kennel side, well bring your earplugs!
So you are out of the city noise, but you are in a hell noise of barking dogs the whole day. They start at 7am. There is not a real garden to sit, just a piece of grass situated on the kennel side.
The surroundings are nothing special. There is no elevator, so you need to drag your suitcases on the stairs, nobody will help you.
In my opinion, overpriced, old, noisy rooms, too far from everything and too much noise from the dogs and a terrible breakfast. Again, 3 stars? For this price you will find a much better deal!

Room Tip: Don't stay there. But if you do, ask for a room that is not facing the dog kennel and one on the...
