I went to Singapore with my friend and purpossedly choose this hotel to meet our budget. The receptionist was nice and very helpfull. But yes we could only checked-in after on 2pm. The location was near bus station. It was just 2 minutes walk to the near bus station. The room was quite small. No table, and no cabinet to keep cloth. The bathroom was quite ok. Hot and cold shower were there. But the tv channel was more to local channel. The rate was not included breakfast. So i still had to go out to have breakfast. But overall, my stay was quite ok.

Never never arrive before the check in time, you will only get your room after 2pm. before check in time the room is sold to all the short stay couple for SGD 35 for 2 - 3 hours stay. Not good for family stay since it is in the RED area but safe to stay. Shower is good with strong pressure but the ceiling look wet as it will fall to your head anytime, room is dusty, bed is sleeping on a spring, no boiler unless you pay for it, but for a short stay and you are not in the room all time it is fine with the price they are offering. Opposite the main road at LRG 15 there is a buffet restaurant called UFO Roster Buffet which offer valuable buffet food at SGD 22 eat all you can with big crab on the buffet.

Room Tip: I had room 303, facing road

This was our 3rd stay at the happy hotel, the first was in June 2009 when it used to be clean. You can't beat the location if your on a budget. Kallang station is a short walk away and a ride into the city takes less than 10 mins. There's plenty of good food places around where you can get a decent feed for 2-3 bucks. Our most recent stay was over the F1 weekend. We booked with laterooms well in advance and when happy realised it was the F1 they advised us the rate was going up by $17 per night and refused to honour the original price of our booking. By this time all the budget hotels in the area were fully booked- NOT IMPRESSED! (late rooms refunded the difference). The girl working the night shift was always friendly. The rooms are tiny. We've stayed in both the standard and superior rooms and the superior room is slightly bigger- not by much but at least you don't have to squeeze your way into the bathroom. The rooms are dirty- we've been 5 months in Asia and this is probably the dirtiest place we've stayed (not to mention the most expensive). Walls are stained (standard) underneath the bed has never been cleaned but the worst thing is the mould on the bathroom walls- this is pure laziness because it wipes off with tissue! It wouldn't take too much effort to clean these rooms up.

No breakfast offered (no restaurant in the hotel), the room was super small it was so hard to move in it if you were not alone. It did not have closet either. One of the days that we stayed, we left some foods (unopened, uneaten), and they were gone (or stolen?) when we got back to the hotel and the room got cleaned.
The positive is that it's located in a street with a lot of food vendors, pretty close from the MRT Station Aljunied (around 10 min walk), and it has a good internet connection.

I don't consider myself to have hugely high standards when stopping over between cities on the cheap, but THIS was simply disgraceful. Mould and fungi on the walls, bathroom not cleaned (probably for several weeks), insects on the walls, tiny room, floor slabs with gaps between them. Nowhere near worth budget money. Ended up going next door and making an on the spot reservation. The only positive I suppose was that gentleman at front desk was very polite and I was only charged for 2 nights rather than 5 - I see this as a positive, I could have been given back squat. Ended up paying almost double next door, but standards were not just 2 but 10 times higher. Book at your own risk!

Happy Hotel is located in the Geylang area, where many budget hotels can be found. The area is east of the city center, and covering the distance there requires a ride by taxi, bus or MRT. The closest MRT station is a brisk walk away, but busses to jalan besar stop at the main road just a few minutes from the hotel. In the immediate area you will find numerous small shops and eateries, the latter offering mainly chinese food at very good prices.

The rooms in the Happy are very small - the majority of the floorspace is occupied by the bed. The bathrooms are relatively spacious, and come with warm water and working fixtures. Cleanliness is fine - you may encounther an occasional bug, but thats nothing uncommon for southeast asia... buy a can of bugspray yourself if you really hate having any insects in your room.

Staff is friendly, with the receptionist being either a young woman or an older chinese gentleman that is very helpful if you ask for directions or information.

Since the price is so competitive, even for the Geylang area, i would recommend staying here in case you plan to spend most of your time outside the hotel. If you require space to do some work (it does come with free wifi), spend a bit more on a place with larger rooms.

Room Tip: Ask to see a couple - most are similar but some could be slightly less cramped than others.

Yes geylang is the red light district, but we were not bothered by anyone. It is the area for budget hotels in Singapore, so either you accept it or you pay more for a hotel in a nicer area.
It is very close to the city center by MRT, there is lots of cheap food around there and the 2 chinese guys at the reception were really friendly, helpful and constantly joking around... Bus number 100 goes straight to Golden Mile bus station.

Rooms are basic, hot water, tv, bed, table, ... you are in a budget hotel so don't go there if you want luxury...
