I stayed here for one night in July 2012 on my way back to Perth. Paid $S65 ($A48) plus deposit of $S50 which was refunded on check out (No idea why they have the deposit, maybe for the tv remote).

Negatives:
I was in a very small windowless room on the 3rd floor. The bedroom was no bigger than 2.5M x 1.5M (not including the bathroom).
The room had a slight mouldy smell.
There was dark mould on the ventilation slots on the ceiling.
The Bathroom floor was still wet, from the previous guest.
Can hear guests talking in the corridors, but quiet after sunset.
TV has only local (no cable channels) so only about 2 in English (Asia News and Discovery), rest are Malay, Indonesian or Chinese.

Positives:
Cheap, for Singapore
Bed was extremely comfortable - slept like a baby for 9 hours
Air-con very good
Free Wifi (many hotels in Singapore charge the earth for it)
Free bottle of water on arrival and use of international power adaptor.

Actually this was my first hotel that I reserve via online directly to its website. Previously, I've made some correspondences with Madam See. According to her email, I did't have to pay any charges until I arrive at the hotel and checking in. All the charges already declared within the email. There's no hidden cost. So, I could prepare my budget. I've reserved a Triple Room type. The front desk explained every rules and the charges that applied to my resevartion. One of my sons considered as an adult because his height was higher than their counter table's height. Even though he is 11 years old only. And I have to add SGD.10/night for this. Actualy the total charges was the same with the total charges that mentioned in Madam see email before. So, I didn't complain, since it's declared before in the email. I have to deposit SGD.50 (and will be returned if we return the card key and TV remote during check out). The payment could be cash or use credit card. The front desk offered me free bottles of water on arrival only. (No more free bottles since then). The hotel gave me this Room #502. Even though there's an elevator (a clean elevator), but it only stop at 4 level. So I have to go to the next level by stairs. But it's okay, a little bit exercise after 2 hours flight. The room is small because it has 1 Queen size and 1 single size. But it's okay, since we will spend many times outside the hotel. The room was clean and smells good. The linen was clean, the TV is small but the channels were okay, the A/C unit looks old, but it's work properly, but the buttons were damaged, but you can still experiment to find the correct button. The bathroom unit contain showers, basin, liquid soap, sitting toilet, hot-cold water was available, free internet Wi-Fi was free password within the room, but the password will be asked in the lobby. This free Wi-Fi was fast enough. Inside the room, there's closet with shirt hangers, and a small but good refrigerator inside the closet. You will find also an electric kettle to make coffee or hot water. They keep clean our room everyday and clean our trash bin. Outside the hotel, even though the location is in geylang red district area, but the hotel itself is on the edge of geylang, so you will see the 'night activities' less. Many stores around the hotel, such as fruits, mini market, restaurant, cafe. For muslim food, you have to go to the geylang road, there's a muslim indian restaurant, around geylang Lor 10, as I remember. You need to walk around 5-10 minutes to this restaurant. This reastauran has a big Green sign board. They serve food, like fried chicked, nasi briyani, fried rice, but the price is standard SGD.4-5 per portion. Kallang MRT station is around 300 meters from the hotel. And there's a bus shelter in the front of the hotel. If you go to Orchard road and plan to back to the hotel by bus to have a city sight seeing, you may use this Double Decker bus No.7 from Orchard road, and stop in the Kallang road bus shelter. That is my review. So far this hotel is OK, even though you stay with your family. Sorry for my bad english. :)

Room Tip: Room #502 has a good condition, clean bath room, a cool A/C unit.

It was a very small room, good for you who wants to stay just one night. The pillow was amazing, it was square shaped and very hard and uncomfortable at all. We stayed here just for a night. The location was good though, walking distance to Seven Eleven and the MRT. You can find many food kiosk around it (go out through the back door). They gave water bottles and coffee. You can ask for more since this hotel also can be rent per-hour, yeah it meant to be for IT.

Room Tip: there is no good room, unless you are old men bringing young woman, everything would be good

Room is small but clean, it was OK to me at this price.

The front desk offered me a free bottle of water on arrival but no more bottle after that even I paid same price as the first date.

Stayed here for a couple of nights....... no real complaints other than a rather unpleasant smell.
You get what you pay for: not much.

This hotel is for the budget traveler and you should not expect anything above the average. The room was a bit dated with a few marks on the wall, but the bed was comfy and it had aircon, tv and a fridge which were all fine. The bathroom was functional and fine.
Its located on the metro which is handy and its on Sims avenue which has an interesting local nightlife.
All in all, its basic but (for Singapore) reasonably priced. If you are on a budget you may as well give it a go.

If you are looking for simple and inexpensive accommodation in Singapore, the Hotel Regin is a good option. The standard rooms are clean but very small so they are probably only OK for a solo traveler. And unless you plan to spend a lot of time in your room, the small size isn't a big deal.

The hotel is a couple of long blocks from the Kallang SMRT station. A fairly easy walk and once on the SMRT, you can get to just about anywhere in Singapore.

I was told that the Geylang section of the city is the "red light" district, but the Hotel Regin is on the edge of Geylang and I didn't notice anything "red light" around the hotel.
