“Nice hostel with a friendly atmosphere...”
Reviewed 26 April 2010

This is one of the nicest, friendliest, and considerate hostels I have stayed at.....and I have stayed at many! The staffs go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and help you in any way possible; Breakfast is supplied each morning and there is always time for a cup of tea/coffee. the location of the hostel is perfect with just 200 meters from the (farrer park) MRT station ,easy connections to the rest of Singapore... The owner and the staff's superior hospitality and friendliness set the stage for the atmosphere. The hostel is also very well kept and clean. I would highly recommend this hostel to those looking for a place in a good location with a homely feel to it.

We recently stayed at the Mitraa for 3 nights where 4 of us shared a private 2 bunkbed dorm. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They also included free breakfast (toast, boiled eggs, fruit and coffee/tea) which was a nice touch. The patio in front was a really nice place to have your breakfast in the morning. The hostel is about a 10 minute walk from Ferrer Park MRT station and in the hot/humid weather it can seem like forever. The one thing I really did not like is that the showers and the toilet shared the same room. Everytime I wanted to use the washroom, the floors/toilet seat would be wet because someone took a shower. The bunk beds were made of metal frames so it would make a lot of noise when someone was moving and it really felt like it would collapse. The window in our dorm had gaps so you can hear everything from outside (cars driving by, people talking and bells ringing from the temple next door which made sleeping kind of difficult. If you decide to stay here, I recommend that you bring all you need cause there is a rental fee for everything (hair dryer, towels, using their computer for internet etc). If you're on a really tight budget and you can sleep anywhere in any condition then I would stay at the Mitraa.

I was so happy to come across this little hostel when i was searching on the internet - it was a lovely place to stay!
For around 12 GBP per night (26 singapore dollar) i stayed in the 6 bed mixed dorm for 4 nights. The dorms were very clean and newly furbished, aircon, and included a secure locker for each person. The bathrooms were shared, but regularly cleaned throughout the day. The price also included breakfast everyday, which was a buffet of toast with a selection of spreads (butter, jam, chocolate, peanut butter) fresh fruit and tea and coffee. Internet was cheap and fast, and there was also a laundry service/washing machines and dryers, that wasnt too expensive. There is no restaurant mind, but there are many restaurants and food courts to be found a short distance away.
The staff were very helpful, and because Singapore is small, it was easy to get around via taxi, bus or tour.
The only negative things that i could say is that the beds do not come with free blankets (you can rent them for a dollar) or use your own sleepsheet. Also, the dorm didnt have a window, and therefore no natural light, so a torch is imperative to make sure you can get up and get you stuff sorted in the morning without waking your roomates, as without the light on, its pitch black all day.
All in all though, i felt really welcome and safe at the hostel, and it was a lovely little place to stay for a lone female traveller on a budget.

The hostel is located at a distance of about 10 mins walk from the nearest MRT station, however with the Singapore heat and humidity is can feel a lot more than that. However locating the same shall not be too difficult, the hostel is located opposite the Chinese temple on the main street.

The thing that differentiates this hostel from others is their amazing staff. They went out of their way to help on various stuff from the time i had entered the hostel. I really feel theirs' was the best hostel staff i have ever encountered in my life.

The dorms are nice but small, but i guess thats the problem everywhere in Singapore. However the toilets are nice and clean. Also number of toilets on each floors is sufficient.

I would highly recommend the hostel to everyone traveling to Singapore.

Pros: Staff, Toilets
Cons: Location (I you will use the MRT frequently)

Friendly and knowledgeable owner and staff. Great location. Fun outside terrace to share a few beers among newfound friends. Close to the MRT and plenty of places to shop and eat. The dorms are a bit cramped but very clean, and they all come with air-con.

Everyone who works there goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and appreciated. Heck, the owner took a bunch of us out to sample the infamous Singapore Sling at a nearby bar!

All in all, the perfect place to stay in Singapore!=)

Probably this is one of the nicest, friendliest, and considerate hostels we have stayed.....and we have stayed in 20 over hostels ! The owner and his staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and help you in all way possible…the real warmth in their hospitality is obviously visible… and it was like a home away from home.

Free Breakfast is provided each morning and there is always time for a cup of tea/coffee. It is a small sized hostel and very communal with a cozy sit out which guarantees meeting a variety of people while staying there, all of whom were very nice.
The hostel is also very well kept and clean . The location is closer to a train station, so easy to get connected with different parts of the city.
I would highly recommend this hostel for those visiting Singapore….

We spent 2 nights there and move as soon as possible to a closeby hostel cheaper, with more FREE facilities and better lobby area. You have to pay for everything at Mitraa, even the bed sheets (1$), and sleeping bags are not allowed...!!!?? It is not cozy, beds make noise. The day staff is friendly, but the night staff isn't at all. It is clean.
