“Small Rooms noisy location from traffic”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

I was expecting a lot more from this hotel. The first room we were in was tiny no room to get around the bed, also the noise from the road as well as the air conditioning and birds during the night ensured a restless sleep. The staff were happy to move us (two rooms adjoining) our second room was bigger but still quite small. The bathrooms in all the rooms that I saw were exceptionally tired for want of a better term! The nearest SMRT is a fair walk away at least 10 minutes walk and unless you eat in the hotel you need to travel some distance for any restaurant. All of the staff were friendly helpful and professional (cleaners, waiters/waitresses and reception staff)

The only -thing I liked is that it had free wifi internet connectivity n its first. Breakfast is not good comparing other eat outs. Never to return again.

Hi folks ....was there in July end 1)...the rooms are too small and inspite of me choosing a deluxe room felt no difference in room size...and worst toilets are the tiniest ever seen (even in Europe the toilets are bigger)....
2)It is located quiet far from both the lavender and farrer park mrts...and be aware you cannot get taxis from little India to this hotel that easily.....so be prepared to walk min 15 mts to reach a MRT...
3) don't ever choose breakfast here in this hotel as its very useless and it's not worth it to pay for a breakfast of this standard in this hotel....
4) no water system in toilets so Indians be aware....rooms aren't soundproofed too so you could very well hear the noise from neighboring rooms.....and bed and walls not neat.....
5) some staffs were friendly to certain extent ...this is just one factor I'm rating poor and not terrible ...
Final words don't choose this hotel ...there are far more better hotels with good connectivity parameters........

We stayed at this hotel from 19-22nd July 13. Its a small but nicely done up property.

The hotel is right on the main Lavender Street and it's a very convenient place to guide the cab.The rooms are small but very well planned to fit in everything u need like a mini refrigerator, a kettle, safe deposit etc. The hotel provides you with a free wifi, 2 mineral water bottle etc.

The hotel is at walk away distance from Lavender Food Square and also very easily one can walk over to the near by Mustafa center, little India and City Square Mall. There is a lot of variety in food that's available at all the places for both non-veg and vegetarian people. So in that aspect too, the hotel is good. The metro station is also a 10 mins walk and the station falls on the main airport line. The 7/11 store is just a five mins walk too.

The breakfast is pretty decent and the hotel staff professional. I do agree with someone who mentioned about the slow refilling of the food. The F&B staff takes it very lightly. Its just to suggest the improvement tat can be made.

Overall a lovely stay and would definitely suggest it to others.

My wife and I travelled to Singapore in the hopes of securing work. As a truly expensive country (when you have no monthly salary paycheck), we needed a clean, functional hotel with fast wifi and easy transport links - and came across Aqueen after first staying elsewhere. What a fortuitous find! As I have stayed here for a while, I wanted to take the time to write a fuller review. Please find this below:

-- Staff: Professional, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Colin (manager) also deserves a special mention for being a superb host.
-- Bedroom: Although small (not by Singapore standards), the space was utlised in a clever way and still managed to contain a desk, chair and wardrobe
-- Bathroom: Again while small, the smart design ensured the room did not feel claustrophobic. What's more, there was hot water and decent pressure whenever needed. A huge plus for us!
-- Breakfast (included in our price): a huge buffet offering everything from fresh fruit and cereals through to scrambled eggs (especially good!), sausages and a French toast with maple syrup. As it's a buffet you can eat as much as you like until it closes at the agreeable time of 1030am. (Excellent when you consider a coffee and pastry will probably set you back around 4-7 Sing Dollars elsewhere).
-- Wifi: fast and reliable (e.g. it's good enough to stream video in an evening)
-- Transport links: The MRT station is very close and only 4 stops to Tanjong Pagar. You can even walk to Bugis or Orchard Street (shopping districts) in around 10-15 minutes.
-- Petite Menu (restaurant): the evening happy hour was pleasing to see, and the nibbles we ordered were tasty and well presented.
-- Local amenities: there's a cheap laundry close by, as well as hairdresser and coffee shops. The MRT/subway is also close by.

In summary, I can't recommend this hotel highly enough especially if you are on a tight budget and would rather spend the money on having fun, then this is absolutely value for money... you won't be disappointed!

Thanks Colin and the superb Aqueen Team!
