We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Wanderlust. It was a thoughtfully designed hotel with an excellent restaurant. Each floor is designed by a different group of designers and the feel was extremely trendy. We stayed in the whimsical loft room, which was designed a bit like a tree house in a forest. There is a nespresso machine and very nice toiletries. The only reason why
I do not award it full points is because trendiness slightly prioritises practicality. For example, there is absolutely nowhere to hang your wet towel after a shower, and there is hardly any space around the sink to stand a pot of cream. The air conditioner worked well, but I personally don't like being in a room where there is no option to open the window even a crack. It just feels a bit claustrophobic to me. This really is a a great place to stay and I would certainly go back. The staff were unfailingly helpful and the location, while perhaps not to everyone's taste, really suited me. Stay, but for a few days not an extended period, by then the lack of surfaces and airlessness might start to be annoying. But an extremely nice hotel.

Greetings from Wanderlust!

Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the uniqueness of the hotel, along with breakfast and the surrounding Little India area. We do recognise that Wanderlust is not to everyone's taste. Alternatively we also do have 2 sister properties located in Chinatown, Hotel 1929 and New Majestic Hotel which might provide a more viable option for your future stay.

Meanwhile, we hope to welcome you back soon so we may be of service to you once again.

The room was uncomfortable, no room to sit down. Hard for older couple to climb into bed. On the edge of Little India which was a unique experience. For the adventurous.

Dear Vicki W,

Thank you for taking the time to drop us a line here. We do recognise that Wanderlust may not be suitable for everyone. Alternatively, we do have our sister property, New Majestic Hotel located in Chinatown. There are a variety of room options, some with lower beds which might provide a more viable option for your future stay.

Meanwhile, safe travels and we hope to welcome you back once again.

My husband and I booked the Wanderlust based on its TripAdvisor reviews. We were not steered wrong - this is a great hotel. It is right in Little India. It was built in 2010 so everything is very new. The rooms are tiny but from what I understand, that is standard for Singapore. They provide Kiehl's toiletries and even an Iphone dock. The breakfast is included and is fantastic. My only gripe is that our room (207) was right over a cafe that is open until 3 am, and it was pretty loud. When I asked to be switched, the front desk said that they didn't have any other "rooms of our type" available. It might have been lost in translation, but in the US, a hotel would normally switch you to any available room if you are having noise problems, not just another room of the same type. Luckily we brought a travel white noise maker with us so it drowned out the cafe sound. Otherwise we really enjoyed this hotel and would recommend it for sure.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that doesn't overlook the cafe. If you face the front of the hotel from the s...

Dear Catherine B,

Warm greetings from the team at Wanderlust! Many thanks for your kind review and compliments. We're glad you enjoyed your overall stay despite the late night noise at the coffeeshop below.

Little India can indeed be a little bustling. Do accept my sincere apologies for the miscommunication with the staff on room availabilities. We would definitely be glad to offer and assist with a room change should we have availabilities facing the back lane regardless of room categories.

We are taking steps to ensure that such occurrences would not happen again in the future and hope that you would allow us the opportunity to welcome you back and impress you with our commitment to improve.

We booked one of the space themed rooms months in advance, it was all ready for us when we arrived at an ungodly hour although check in took a bit longer than anyone would like. The bed is amazingly comfortable although the the "stairs" up to it are so steep you may as well call it a ladder.

Wifi passwords are uniform and limited to one user at a time per room so if your wifi isn't working just try another room's, it's what the person using yours has done.

First time to Singapore and we wanted to stay somewhere off the beaten track.
The staff were really helpful and we liked the downstairs bar (fantastic cider!).
We stayed in a concept room on the 4th floor the tree hut style. It was pretty cool but still felt small and not alot of space to store our luggage or unpack. My husband struggled with the shower but soon figured it out! We both though the room could have used more light.
We didnt use the MRT so we could maximise our time but we found the station which was only 5min walk away.
Little India is a bustling old school area of Sinagpore and a great soure of cheap amazing food. Orchard road is a 10min taxi ride away and getting around was easy.
Singapore really is Asia 101 and we had a great time.

This funky, design, boutique hotel in Little India was just the right call. The wonderful hotels off Orchard Road are great, but there is no uniqueness to them and you could be (almost) anywhere in the world. Whereas Wanderlust is a one of a kind, youthful, fun hotel.

Don't be put off by the surrounding, take advantage of them! It is more like a village than a metropolis. Entering the old, historic school building, you immediately know that this is a different type of hotel. There are a variety of room choices all well air conditioned and no two seem the same. From small, pod-like room to larger loft style rooms. I stayed in a medium sized room that was very well equipped including free minibar (soft drinks only), Nespresso machine, free internet, great Kiehl's toiletries, and top quality towels and linens. My only complaint was lack of closet space making a trip of more than a couple of days somewhat cramped since you have to live out of your suitcase.

The breakfast was EXCELLENT. It was totally Western (bummer if you were expecting Asian food) and comes from their top notch kitchen Cocotte. This includes a choice fresh made eggs, omelets, pancakes and daily specials. There is an awesome muesli bar -- the best -- and fresh orange juice, good coffee and tea, yogurt, and freshly baked croissant and pain au chocolat. It is easy to linger but warning, the dining room was not well air conditioned in the morning so come down casually dressed (not business attire) or you may be uncomfortable.

The staff is excellent and can make great recommendations for restaurants and hawker centers. The restaurant itself (Cocotte) looked very nice, but who wants French food when you are in Singapore? Another suggestion -- why pay S$10 for a beer at the bar when you can go across the street and have a pint bottle of Tiger lager for S$5.40 at the outdoor food center.

I really liked this hotel but it is not for all tastes. If you are daring, young at heart, and enjoy a different boutique type experience stay here -- plus you can't beat the price! If you want the high-end, high-priced, impersonal luxury hotels then go to Orchard Road.

Room Tip: Avoid the smallest rooms unless you are only staying for a night or two.

Dear sirtravel, warm hellos from Wanderlust!

Many thanks for your kind review and compliments. We're pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel, its quirky decor, amenities provided as well as breakfast!

Little India is indeed a bustling and colourful area to explore. Alternatively, we would also like to recommend our sister property, New Majestic Hotel located in another culturally vibrant area, Chinatown.

Meanwhile, safe travels and we hope to welcome you back soon so we may be of service to you once again.
