“Great for budget travelling”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 November 2013

Stayed with 5 other friends and the staff were really cool, polite and helpful. The breakfast they served in the morning was simple but enough to keep us going till lunch. The place is kept really clean and is pretty quiet so you can get a good night's rest at night after a long day about town in Singapore. The distance from the hostel to the MRT is close but under open air so if it's raining, this could be a problem. It rained one day while we were there so we had to wait till it stopped before being able to go out and that wasted us a couple of hours. As an overall, for the price you pay, this place is 100% worth it.

Great accomodation for backpackers! Well priced, extremely friendly staff. Bunk room is very cool despite the constant heat outside. Great/reliable wifi on both levels for the hostel, strong enough for solid FaceTime access on the iPhone. Awesome attractions/maps listed inside. Only a few hundred yards from the subway station. Pods are very clean with personal and reading lights, power outlets and retractable screens. The pods are much more personal than the traditional bunk style hostel. Bring your own blanket with you if you get cold easily; I don't but, I was a little too tall for the blanket provided if I had wanted to use it. Washer/Dryer available upon request. Bathroom were very clean, showers were pretty clean also.

Very nice staff, which was born in Singapoure. If I had a question, they could helped. I loved the rooftop. Sitting in the sun, drinking Coffe and surfing via WFi - yes!
And there was always good music :-)

Sightseeing is not the Sightseeing you think, it will be. It is a very interesting and really nice Singapoure-Food-Sightseeing - NO DINNER BEFORE !!

Close to the bus stop, but not really that close to the MRT but still in a walkable distance. Nice room, I stayed in 8 Beds Female Dorm, but you have to rent the key to lock your locker. The blanket is too small to cover up all your body but overall, it's worth for the price.

Room Tip: Female dorm for solo traveler. Bring a jacket or anything that can be use as an extra blanket becaus...

Stayed for 3 nights just as a stopover on the way home, the concept in here is great, beds are all in little cubbys which each have their own blind - so everyone has privacy when they want to! There is a plug, a reading light and a bigger light inside each cubby, it's like having your own room! There is air conditioning, and you're provided with a small blanket. Rooms are single sex.
Bathrooms are outside here, in a covered area but the sinks are actually outside.
When you walk in you have to go up a flight of stairs to the reception and kitchen/breakfast area, then back down a flight to your room (which is annoying with a big suitcase (!) But they were happy to help me carry it up and down). Overall the staff were really helpful, they even emailed a few weeks before I was due to stay with directions from the airport!
I was able to leave all my stuff in the communal area next to reception until it was time to check in, the breakfast in the mornings was a great perk (although it was just toast, cereal and tea/coffee).
Best bit - free wifi!!!!

@The Little Red Dot is a decent hostel but far from the best place I have stayed at. The capsule system is nice because it provides some kind of privacy (you do still sleep in a room with a lot of other people though so a normal 6 or 8 bed dorm in any other hostel might be quieter anyways). The location is good because of the proximity to Little India. The AC works great.
However, the toilets were pretty gross most of the time and all shower doors (downstairs, not sure if there are more showers) were broken. The facilities really need some maintenance but most importantly, they need to be cleaned more regularly. Some more hygiene would definitely do the place good.
I can't really comment on the breakfast because I didn't try it but it definitely did not look very appealing. The common area is okay, but the staircase when you enter is pretty ugly.

First of all, the rooms are quite cute - you're given a little capsule to yourself, with a night light, power plug and a curtain. The bed is comfortable, but the curtain is a bit see through so I guess you don't get a whole lot of privacy, and plus the light gets in if someone decides to sleep with their light still on.
My 8 bed dorm which i booked was actually a 10 bed dorm - this wasn't a big deal for me but I guess you expect to get what you pay for, not something different.

Nice location, close to an MRT station so it's easy to get around anywhere in Singapore. Plus it's close to little India and jalan besar where there's a 24 hour food court.

The service was alright, very laid back but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Although it would have been nice if staff offered to help with carrying bags up and down the stairs, they kind of just looked on at you struggling...
The first night I stayed there, we were taken out on a 'food tour' around the area by the cute young guy that worked there. It was really nice and gave us an insight into Singapore food culture, and the friendliness of that one staff member gave a really good first impression.

Overall a nice, laid back hotel with relatively friendly staff, just don't expect top service.
