Marrison Hotel

Reviewed 12 March 2014

Stayed in Marrison for 3 days (5-8 March 2013) with my mom, overall Perfect in many ways. Quite near from Exit D Bugis Station MRT, about 100metres only. Lots of steamboat restaurant next to the hotel and places to eat in the evening at next block. The Bus Stop (Shaw Tower Bus Stop, which we took SAEx Bus to River Safari) is also just a few step ahead.

This 7th storey hotel might look tiny, but no problem. With the price they gave me SGD 390/3 night (booked direct from their website), I got a deluxe room (windows attach) and breakfast. The room and bathroom maybe small, but clean and tidy. Mineral water always served and they changed towel and sandal everyday. Yeah, we can still hear people talking at the isle but its okay. The breakfast is simply too, toast, cereal, fried rice or fried bee hoon and they used styrofoam for plate/glass.

I've been to Singapore many times, but always stay at hostel. Since my mom join with me at this trip, this hotel are a perfect place to stay. Not that expensive and the facilities are great, especially if you bring elder or kids with you.

Minus:
Don't forget to ask the wifi login at arrival. Mine was forgotten and have to ask the next day including the breakfast coupon which they give me only one coupon. Luckily it all went smooth until I check out the hotel and they allow me to keep my bags before totally leaving. And yes, at booking letter they offering late check-out, but once I confirmed it they will charge SGD10/hour.

Room Tip: Room with street view are more better

We stayed in Marrison hotel ,on 22-24 February 2014.
Choosed this hotel because of its location, and we're not disappointed about it.Located just 100 m from Bugis MRT station, and just a stone throw away from Bugis Street.
We paid about SGD 250 for 2 nights, booked from Agoda, given the room 201.Check in and out was quick ,quite friendly staffs at the front desk.
At first ,we're concerned about the condition ,and negative reviews about this hotel. But thankfully ,for us the condition was still acceptable.
The room was quite big compared to several other budget hotels in SG, they cleaned the room everyday.
A 40 inch LCD TV was hanging on the wall, hair dryer, toothbrushes , towels ,wardrobe was a standard amenities.
But, we were not given daily bottles of mineral water, should been ask for it, weather they should give us or not.
Loud noises can be heard early in the morning, we can hear people talking outside our room, they should improve the insulation between rooms and the alleys.
A small store was located just beside the hotel, to buy your daily necessities.
This hotel should improve their breakfast menu , not many can be choosed from.
Just fried rice noodles, some slices of toasted bread with butter and jam , rice krispies with milk, tea, coffee ,and tasteless orange juice.
Serving must be done by proper plates , glasses and bowls instead of using the disposable styrofoam plates, glasses and bowls, its not good for the environment ,more trash are created.
Were we satisfied ? We liked the location , but there's many issues must be resolved, and if it can be resolved ASAP , maybe we will come back.
Info : Downtown Blue MRT was already operational , from Bugis ,Marina Bay ,to Chinatown.

Room Tip: If possible , get a room with windows

Rooms are tiny you can hardly move around , very noisy esp at nights , people slamming the doors, talking loudly in the middle of the night. Very difficult to sleep at nights.
Breakfast is awful , toast , coffee & diluted orange for westerns. Location is good that's about it- wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

The rooms are too small. Breakfast is cold rice in a plastic plates with plastic forks and knifes Tea is in a plastic esky. Service is bad and prices is way too high for what you get. Overall, its poor experience

Room Tip: Paying more for a room with window is not worth it.

This hotel is the worst hotel we stayed for 2 nights. We took 9 days off to singapore because in bali the local having Nyepi day. We decided to stay in 3 different places, chinatown, clark quay and bugis. We think we will safe the best for last, but finally we got the worst one. Why?
Appearance of front office very ok and luxury
They gave us room near elevator, very noisy.
Enter the room, whatttt, very very small, hard to standing, can't put our baggage
Small cabinet
Compact toilet
Breakfast worst, not enough employee: cook, server, i dont know, long time food arrived
The best is only location, many street food, warung, dessert, shabu-shabu, etc.

Room Tip: Dont book, dont early payment, go out, find better, lots, dont look back

The room are small with no space to move about. If found smoking, fine $200. After the shower, fog appears in the room and water vapour found on mirror and desk. The towels were found to be dirty after make up room. Overall very poor rating. Near bugis still have many more hotels to choose, don't choose this hotel.

I have stayed in this hotel in June 2013 for 4 nights to attend Communicasia exhibiton in Singapore . This is the worse hotel i have ever seen in my life. Every morning I found new person in reception and it seems they all are from Hitler generation. They have charged 130 USD inclusive of breakfast and believe me the breakfast is just 2 pcs bread and a egg and that too against a coupon that was given by the hotel . If you lost the coupon then you are gone as no duplicate coupon will be issued. You have to walk a mile and then go into basement to have bread and butter . The room was so small that you will have to take over the bed to make any call over phone . No waiter was seen in my four days stay . As per the price is concern this hotel should cost only 30- 35 USD . Pls dont ever go nearer to this hotel if u ever been to Singapore
