For $50 per night, you probably won't be able to find better value in Singapore for this price. I won't get too much into detail into the hostel itself as many others have already done that. The hostel is clean and nice, and is literally only a couple of minutes from the Chinatown MRT station, with lots of Chinese restaurants (some good Szechuan food around) and a convenience store and 24-hour McDonald's just a few minutes walk away.

Check-in was fast and quick, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Just a reminder: they will take $10 as a deposit for the key card and also bring enough cash to pay for your stay because they charge a 3% surcharge if you pay by card which I didn't know about.

The pods were comfy and all guests are provided with two pillows and a comforter, but there is a $2 charge to rent a towel if you don't have one. A little tip though, if you're not used to climbing up to the top bunk, do request for a lower bunk, as the climb up to the top isn't very easy (neither is the trip back down!). Otherwise my stay there was good, except for one night when someone turned off the air-conditioning sometime in the night and it became really warm. Overall, a good place to stay on a budget.

Hi - Thanks for your kind words!

Sorry to hear your room-mate shut the AC down in the middle of the night! We have debated about keeping all the AC remotes to prevent situation like yours, or more frequently guests' 'negotiations' about the right temperature. As we have smaller dorms with fewer guests, from 6-pods to no more than 10-pods, we have leaned towards leaving AC remote in the dorms. It also make it convenient for guests who stay in during the day to decide whether to open windows or have the AC on (no curfew on AC timing). But the debate continues internally (... eh yes... we get excited about the smallest things here) - write to us if you have strong/good arguments either ways.....

Good having you. Thanks and safe travels.

In many ways the wink is a perfect compromise between affordability and comfort . The hotel is clean, well appointed and conveniently located. The staff is exceptionally friendly and the prices are good ( for Singapore ). The rooms are well thought out , with personalized lockers and lighting.

The only downside is one that is inherent in the concept: you will be Sharing your room with other people , and this will inherently bring small tensions. Setting the ac, snoring etc. are things you will need to expect .

Still , the implementation is great and I would stay here again .

Hey - Thanks for taking time to share your thoughts on Wink.

Yes, there's no getting away that we provide shared rooms. Much as we try to optimize privacy - minimal pods per room, sound resistant walls between pods, auto-pod light-up, carpeting to soften steps... - your room-mates make a major difference in close-quarters living. As this is an area we have little control over, we really appreciate feedback that allows us to step in to hopefully make a difference (extra duvets for those more cold-sensitive in a room favoring low temperatures, - reassigning light sleepers to less crowded rooms, etc).

We've changed a few small things since your stay. Please come back and try us again. Again thanks.

I brought a group of 32 people to stay for a large event, and I was amazed by how thoughtful and helpful everyone was - from months before the trip, right through to check-out. The location was great, the pod concept was neat, and the beds were comfortable. We are a group of climbers, so no one complained about getting in and out of the upper bunks! I can't say enough about how accommodating and helpful the staff were, and how clean the place was kept. The only piece of feedback I heard that wasn't positive came after the trip - one of our group was noting that in one of the rooms (ten pods) the light function doesn't work as well as other room designs - because the light faces the row of pods, it woke everyone up every time this person came into the room... But, really, that was it...

THANKS!!!!!!!

Hi guys!
Too bad the event will be outside Singapore next year - we'd love to have you folks again! With 2 big groups staying for an extended time, I'd admit we were a little worried for our independent guests.... all for nought as you guys were terrific! The team and our amenities coped and you folks added to the atmosphere for all. Many thanks. On your feedback on the light intruding into a specific pod, I think we've isolated this (after lying in many pods and turning on/off lights...) and will be seeing how we can address this. Please visit Wink again individually or in smaller groups. Keep climbing!

From the aiport I took a shuttle that cost me 9$, affordable for Singapore. The driver dropped me just in front of the Hostel.
the receptionists were very nice and efficient. The check in is a 3pm, so I left my suicase to them and went for a walk. the hostel is located in Chinatown when there are lots to see. There are a Buddhist and Hindu temples just around the corner that are worth seeing! it's also good for shopping. China town underground station is a short walk away.
The dorm are very good, the way they arranged the beds gives you enough privacy . I absolutely loved it. We also get a private and massive locker each.
The showers, toilets, and kitchen are very clean.
there are some laptop you can use for internet access, but the wifi is available everywhere in the hostel and is working absolutely fine.
the breakfast is included :orange juice, tea and coffee, toasts and cereals, butter, jam or peanut butter .
I slept well enough for an hostel . the road isn't too noisy and people are respectfull.
the reception desk also got me discount on some attractions (singapore flyer, night safary..).
I just don't see anything negative to say about this hostel. Much recommended !

I stayed four night in Singapore at Wink Hostel, because the reviews were so good. But I would like to advise fellow travelers that if they are looking for a fun hostel to meet lots of out going people and go out on the town (which is so much fun ) dont look here. I personally found the people staying in the hostel very placid and alot of them older. When I walked through the halls instead of friendly smiles people just starred and no one said hi. As for the facilities it was clean and there was a lot of stuff one could use if they just felt like sitting around the hostel all day, ei computers, xbox, movies. They have staff who come and make the beds but one of the staff left a long greasy black hair in my bed YUCK ! What capped it off as a pretty negative overall experience was I ended up getting bed bugs. Not worth the money in my opinion and doesn't have that backpacker vibe. Very stale, though apparently not very sterile.

Hi Hannah,
Your feedback on bed-bugs is a shock... While we investigate, we have taken immediate action (isolate your last pod, treating the linen and mattress etc).... We'd actively monitor. As we had not heard from you until this public forum, we'd be writing to you directly to pursue. Thanks for letting us know.

As for the atmosphere, our guests' mix is quite varied and sometimes, depending on vacation/holiday seasons in different countries, the guests-profile at Wink can be quite different. We are conscious we can't be everything to everyone (from experience - activities like pub-crawls and free concert tours appeal to some groups but not others) and we therefore try hard to target activities like food-nights and night-cycling that are hopefully more 'neutral'. These have been good successes. A large part of the atmosphere is driven by staff here, and your feedback reinforces that can try harder to get guests to feel comfortable and possibly interact more. Thanks!
