“Worthwhile if combined with Hort Park or Southern Ridges walk”
Review of Kent Ridge Park

By itself, this attraction was a little disappointing. The canopy walk was very short. As I had just done the forest walk near Henderson waves, it was less interesting in comparison. This is reasonable to visit if you are also going to see Hort Park, the Reflections museum or do the Southern Ridges hike, but as a tourist I wouldn't go out there to see Kent Ridge park on its own.

I think the closest MRT is Pasir Panjang down the hill on Pepys Road.

It was nice to see this part of Singapore, after all the skyscrapers and traffic jams. Depends from where to where you wanna go, but basically you have to be in decent shape and have comfy shoes plus lots of water, if you wanna enjoy the walk

This park was a very enjoyable walk, part of the southern ridges walk. There were plant labels along the way an interesting views of the jungle winding though the city. We started at Kent Ridge park and walked all the way to the Faber peak to catch the tram. This was very enjoyable.

Much of Singapore is very, very flat, so it's a change to go somewhere that has a bit of elevation. Buses go quite close to the bottom of Kent Ridge (if you're coming from Vigilante Drive), but beware - it's a fairly steep walk up to the top of the hill. If you're not feeling particularly fit, or if you're getting on in years, or you just don't fancy walking up a steep slope in the oppressive heat, then contemplate taking a taxi to the car park at the top instead.

Once you're on Kent Ridge, there's not much up and down; it's a ridge, after all, so you'll be ok to trundle along the flat. Parts of the park are fairly exposed to the sun, but there's also a lot of shaded areas that are more pleasant to walk through. It's in the shadier areas that you're more likely to see some of the lizards and insects that live in the area - some of these get quite big. You might also encounter other wildlife, in the shape of lycra-clad mountainbikers, but they usually stick to the trails on the western end of the park; when in the eastern end of the park they're usually sitting down, recuperating from the climb.

A particular highlight of Kent Ridge is the canopy walk; this is a wooden boardwalk about five to ten metres above the ground, right up in the trees. This is a good opportunity to see parts of trees that you usually don't get close to, unless you're good at climbing / a bird / ten metres tall. It's not incredibly long, and the views across the rest of Singapore aren't so amazing (given that what you can see is flat ground and housing blocks in the distance) but it's a calm and quiet place to get away from the hustle of the city for a while.

Walking down the other end of the park, we noticed quite a lot of discarded drink and food containers in the verge. A bit of a shame that people don't think to carry their trash out with them.
