Just back from 4 days in Singapore. Stayed at this hotel and was very impressed. Great location and only 7 minutes walk from the Lavender MRT stop.

Check in was quick, efficient and friendly. We were afforded the luxury of a room upgrade which was very nice. The room was small but that seems to be the norm in Singapore but it was clean and modern and the bathroom was very nice. Beds were comfortable and plenty of movie channels to watch if you just want a night in to relax. If i have one minor complaint to make or advice is that the curtains should be open along with the window shutters as when we came in we originally thought we had a room with no windows. The difference the shutters open to the room made is night and day. The room went from being drab and dreary to bright and alot more spacious.

Breakfast was good except for the first morning. We arrived down at about 7.30 am, went into the restaurant and originally was taken aback by the fact the restaurant wasnt set for breakfast. No knifes or forks on the table, not even a salt or pepper shaker. Just white linen on the tables. It was complete self service from that stand point. I personally dont believe it would be too hard to make the restaurant look open for breakfast. Also the waiter on Saturday morning was sitting at a table reading the paper when we came in. Not even a hello or good morning and at first i thought he was a guest. Breakfast the other 2 mornings was good however and i cannot fault the choice available.

Overall this hotel was well priced, clean, comfortable and in a great location. The problem with breakfast would not deter me from coming back and i would be happy to recommend it to anyone visiting Singapore.

I loved this place! There s no reason not to visit again.
I took a taxi to the hotel and it wasnt hard to find at all.
The building was very beautiful with historic look yet modern decoration inside.
The hotel was small but good layout design that makes it perfectly utilised.
Don't forget to look around as its details was very nice.
The room was a bit too small as I stayed in the smallest room.
The Pasha bar was pretty nice too.
Wellllllll, worth the money and I will come visit again.

Best getaway from the bustling city of Singapore. What I love most is that the building looks historic but when u entered it's all modernised with a touch of comfort and style! I love how the windows are built; takes me back to the old Singapore shophouses only of course it's a lovely hotel. Cleaniness is well taken care of and the amenities are reasonable too. Bed is wonderful and most of the rooms (maybe a lil'small) are beautiful and cosy. There's a rooftop bar which is connected to the room and it's very relaxing too. Service may be a'lil slow but it's all good somehow. The Sultan is definitely a unique kind of Royalty experience & I'm coming back.

We stayed here back in August of this year. We were pleasantly surprised, whilst the rooms were small and the staff lacking customer service skills, the bed was lovely, the tv worked, the bathroom was clean and the water in the shower was hot.
Cons:
Breakfast was not enjoyable, the staff at reception and breakfast did not possess good customer service skills (may have been a language barrier) The breakfast staff were usually seen sitting in the next room reading the paper instead of looking after the buffet and the tables.
The rooms are not sound proof so can be quite noisy at night, the location of the hotel is in the Muslim district which is fine but a long distance from tourist spots and approx 15 min walk to closest train station.
Also when we put the sign on the door to make up our room, when we came back from an outing the only thing that had been done was the bed had been made, the bins were still full and empty toliet roll left, new one just placed at top of toilet and empty water bottles were left.
But in saying this we were comfortable and emjoyed our time in Singapore, and they hold discount tickets to attractions such as Universal and the Zoo, good value for the money, you get what you pay for.

Whether you choose to stay at The Sultan or visit the Jazz Bar in the evening you shouldn't miss a visit to this terrific little jem.

We upgraded to a large suite and it was worth the extra. The room was as new as possible with some lovely features like a privacy screen so no one could see into the room if the door was open. (Great for deliveries)

The have a pod style coffee machine that is easy to use. There isn't a mini bar as such but there are small shops across the road for anything you need.

The beds are very comfortable and large with crisp white linen (my favourite).

The jazz bar was dark and had a verandah over the street for smokers. The band we saw was terrific. There isn't a cover charge but the drinks are a little pricey.....not really a problem if you get free entertainment.

The staff were terrific and let us know about local offerings; they are directly opposite the textiles building for cheap but stylish suits, plenty of restaurants nearby as well as their own. Great outdoor area for lounging after a tough day sight seeing or shopping.

Breakfast is a bit odd, but we still went each day to see what might happen. Have a sense of humour and it just adds to the experience. Looking for a 'great breakfast' eat elsewhere.

Room Tip: Pay for the type of room you would like. Learn to enjoy early morning prayers. You are in the Arab s...

This hotel is not the best one, but hotel is definitely worth to buy it. Like everything in Singapore, it is absolutely clean and comfortable nevertheless, it has no window. There is a free wifi, which works also in rooms. Hotel has a great location, it is close to Levander subway station, just 20 min to Changi Airport. To the downtown, it takes only 5 min (3 stops by subway). Hotel is in arab part of town, but it is very clean, quiet and save. There are many cheap restaurants and shops in nearby.

Upon arriving at the main reception, there was nobody present so I had to wait about 10mins til a lady showed up to assist in the checking in. The room was modern designed with a platform bed, clean and new. Bathroom was well equipped with toiletries and a modern rain-shower style. There is no swimmimg pool nor fitness centre. The room came with complimentary welcome drinks which had to be redeemed at the bar at the top level but the experience was less than satisfactory. Showed the coupons to the bar-tender and in a rough-toned he barked out "JUICE or SOFT DRINKS?" I replied juice and went to sit. 10mins passed and no drinks were served I went up and again he said in a rude tone "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" I was absolutely appalled by the service standard at the bar. Breakfast the next morning was a total disappointment. Again there was no service staff in the restaurant at 9.15am, I found myself a seat and was pretty disappointed at the spread. Scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken chipotle, tomato and hash brown, bread. Generally the prices of Singapore hotels are one of the most expensive in Asia so I suppose for The Sultan's competitive price in the heart of the city something has got to give - which in this case is service (manpower) & breakfast.
