We booked this hotel for 5days. The room was quite small but the bed was comfortable and the air conditioned was good also but there is no fridge inside the room. There are some complimetary like soap, tissue paper & water and if you want to drink or have coffee every morning you need to go outside the room to the coffee bar. The hotel is looked like an opera house and it's near/very closed to the china town but literally it is around the hotel. The good things for this was the location it's very closed to everything like train station (Chinatown station) Chinese heritage, market & local restaurants & closed also to the Indian temple. Its all walking distance no need to hire a taxi or a tour guide just walk by yourself.

I recommend this hotel for 1 or 2 days to stay but not for more than 2 days.

Great location,
we spent two nights at the Santa Grand Hotel Lai Chun Yuen.
The room was very small but Location was very good.
Room fridge but can drink coffee in the hallway space.
Double room was booked, but it was nice for a change to a twin room

We spent three nights at the Santa Grand Lai Chun Yuen. The room was small but it was so well located on the corner, looking out through the shutters onto the hustle and bustle of Chinatown. The doof doof music had stopped by mid evening and the rest of the street noise was just the calming sound of shoppers footsteps and the click of chopsticks. Small gestures such as free bottles of water rather than minibar prices always impress us. This hotel was a good choice for us. The hotel is in an old historic Opera House so it isn't surprising that the rooms and design are quirky with such features as a triangular shower cubicle! It was a very comfortable tourist class hotel and good value for money in a great location.

Great location, very close to the famous China town market which is literally just outside the door, restaurants and shopping centres. Great interior design of the hotel lobby. Room is a little small but it is value for money. Will come back again !

Room Tip: Always ask for the quiet room since some of the rooms which face to the food market ( smith street...

Too much small but nice! It was better if had windows & mini bar in rooms :) maby come back again at this hotel later. The best advantage is about the location... at the heart of Chinatown & near MRT station. I love that area. it is amazing . This hotel is suitable for couples not family and it is ok for 2 days or something. It is clean & not bad but can be better!

From the moment we arrived the exterior of the Hotel looked fine. When we walked through the front double doors we were very disappointed in the interior it was very dark and red. The staff were not helpful at all. The rooms were even worse very small and there was nowhere to put your bags or belongings. We were to stay there 6 nights but we couldn't stand the noise or smell so we were transferred to another hotel in there chain which was so much better and not so noisy. The bathroom was very small with the shower, toilet and sink in the same room. There was a shower curtain to divide the shower from the toilet and water would be all over the floor and toilet by the time you had finished your shower. I honestly would not recommend this hotel to any one. Go to the hotel in Victoria Street which is much more better and the rooms are much bigger and the staff are very helpful as well.

Room Tip: Do not ask for a balcony room much more noisier

PROS: Excellent location right in the middle of Chinatown, just beside the newly-refurbished Food Street and walking distance to the nearest MRT station. Professional and friendly staff.

CONS: Too noisy at night due to the ktv bars in the area - the rooms are not sound proof. Very small rooms, there was barely enough space to move around - those with big luggage will find this challenging as there's practically no where to park your items. Bathroom is a bit of a downer: there's no separate shower area so toilet's always wet. No windows as well - it was clamped shut - so it feels claustrophobic.
