Though the name conjures the idea of rooms facing Singapore river (no - they do not - they instead overlook the swimming pool and rooms of this and the adjacent hotel), yet this hotel is a pretty good place to stay when in Singapore. It is about 10 minutes walk from Clark quay and the river - there are about 5 hotels in this area, all next to each other.

The lobby is plush, reception was quick, and staff polite. There was a giant TV put up for the FIFA world cup and the mood was festive with all of us cheering the matches.

Rooms are comfortable and large, and the baths have a bathtub and complimentary lotions etc. I did not try out the breakfast, but there is room service too. Internet in the room is wired and fast.

All in all, good value for money.

We stayed at the Furama for 2 nights after a long search on the internet for a decent (and affordable) hotel in Singapore. Picked this one because of all the good reviews. We paid 110 Euro (US$133) for the room per night, breakfast not included. But we were actually a little dissapointed, for this price and certainly after all the great reviews. The rooms are just OK but are getting a little outdated, the bathroom a litte small and old. Also, it's quite noisy, we could hear everyone having showers in the morning.
The swimming pool was average, a cold water Jacuzzi and a pool that's about it. I think the whole hotel is starting to wear a bit. Service was fine but nothing memorable and I think it's really crazy you pay for the Internet, this should be free, especially in a hotel like this. Location wise we liked it, it's walking distance to the city and china town and lots of good and cheap eateries around.
I guess it's probably one of the better hotels you'll get in Singapore but don't think would stay there again.

Very nice hotel. Friendly staff who managed to give us a room before the check-in time as we arrived early say, 3-4 hours before check-in time.
Good room, very spacious. Good breakfast and very easy to get hold of transporatation.
The frontage of the hotel is very huge with lots of open space (guess common area along with hotels). Many hotels nearby and also guess Zouk is close by.

This was my second time in Singapore. This time around I traveled with a very large group from work (close to 250 people) and stayed at the Furama Riverfront Hotel for 2 nights. We had a fixed itinerary to follow which included Universal Studios along with other Sentosa attractions and hence didn't spend a lot of time in the Hotel.

However, comparing it with the hotels from my earlier trip to Singapore, this hotel definitely has a few positives. One is definitely the location. Its about a 5-10 mins walk (and about 5 SGD by cab) from Clarke Quay and the Outram Park MRT station. Thus traveling to Clarke Quay and Harbourfront (enroute to Sentosa) were extremely easy.

We stayed on a twin sharing basis and my room was on the 8th floor. The rooms (including the bathroom) were quite comfortable and not at all cramped. There is a decent sized bathtub with a shower. The TV was not an LCD or plasma which I found quite surprising. Also, there were too few channels (english) available.

The breakfast at the hotel is the bare minimum that one would expect and I wouldnt call it lavish. Also, the staff were polite and courteous but lacked that extra warmt that one is used to receiving in Singapore. I guess that had more to do with the huge crowd that they had to deal with.

Since this was a fully sponsored trip, I dont exactly know how much we paid for the night but considering the Expedia price (INR 6500 a night), i think it was completely worth the price. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Singapore.

However, honeymooners might want to consider other hotels which offer more luxury and shopaholics might want to stay closer to Orchard.

Stayed at the Furama 2 nights and could not rate it more highly. Not sure what the problem is with other negative reports. Everything good !

Only slightly misleading thing is the name Riverfront actually 5 minutes walk from River but still a good location. 15 minutes walk to Clarke Key.
