“Average hotel with high price”
Reviewed 10 March 2011

The hotel itself is an average hotel and they even say they are the best mid range hotel in Asia. So the first class charge for a room does not fit.
Staff is friendly except for check in where they seem bothered by you checking in.

You can see that the hotel had better days and I know this from my experience travelling there.

The location is good as most restaurants are withing walking distance.

The stay was along with a group Travel.

The check-in for the entire group was managed well, the rooms allocated were basis our preferences.

Malls are walkabale distance, good sourrounding, street food joints nearby. Overall a very comfortable stay.

This hotel was amazing - it looks good, the room (Executive Suite) was comfortable, room service was timely and delicious, staff were very helpful. I have only very minor complaints about the hotel:
Internet service, though free, cuts you off at 500mb of data transfer (that's upload AND download). You just have to refresh to restart it. Minor annoyance, trying to get 3 months of updates done this way.
Laundry, nowhere within walking distance I could find had a laundromat, and the hotel laundry room (2 washers, 2 dryers) cost $8 EACH.
MRT is at least half a mile away, and walking in the humidity is dramatically sweat-causing.

The upsides, however:
Amazingly comfortable bed, and chairs, and couch - just very great place to relax.
Room service was prompt (<30 minute wait both times we ordered) and good, though pricey (but expected because hey, it's room service).
Breakfast buffet had a good variety of American and local foods, fresh juice, and no rush from the staff.
Always taxis waiting downstairs, no wait to get out and go see the city.
Internet service was great speed-wise and no difficulty to set up. Did require ethernet cable in the room, but wireless in public areas (like the buffet).
Pool was pretty cool, only four feet deep but good for laps and in the shade in the morning (nice for those of us who sunburn easily).

If I come back to Singapore, this is the place I will look to stay again!

Good points: friendly staff, room adequate and clean (although the stated mini bar was just an emtpy fridge)

Bad..... oh dear, where to start...... breakfast buffet- incredible range of foods for all cultures but hot food was never more than tepid. Fruit juices- watery concentrates, such a shame when freshly squeezed is available on every street corner.

Housekeeping very erratic, one morning woken at 8 by them wanting to clean the room, another day back from a tour at 4 and the room still not done.

Biggest failing was inflexibility on check out. Checked out at noon, went on a tour till 5 but that still left 6 hours until late night airport pick up. Could we have a room to rest and shower? No. Their options were to sit in the bar- and be pestered to buy drinks all evening, no thanks not at $25/ £12 for 2 lemonades! Or we could sit round the pool- lovely, get hot and sweaty wearing the clothes we will be travelling in for the next 20 hours. We ended up getting an earlier cab to the airport, at least you can get a reasonable priced drink and snack there.

After reading all the good reviews, I myself experienced the good service and nice rooms furama Riverfront hotel offered. The staff were super nice. And the good thing I was even upgraded for free at the executive suite room...The room was really nice. It has a large comfortable bed and pillows and the bathroom was excellent and trendy. While soaking and relaxing on your bathtub, you can watch shows on your LCD TV cos the bathroom has glass panels. It was like havin a spa inside your room. The breakfast buffet was very good too, lots of selections. I would definitely will stay here on my future travels.

The furama is a nice hotel which is a bit out of the way for shoppers, although the rooms were clean and the hotel itself seemed to be managed by young managers- it was well run.
we were a bit disappointed to note that the hotel is quite a bit of a way from the river, but we had no complaints , and there is entertainment in the evenings for those wanting to relax, the hotel also offers a courtesy bus to orchard road drops you off at the concorde which is a bit of a walk to the middle of orchard road and also drops you off at chinatown and the pick up is on the hour ...check with the concierge for bookings..

I spent 2 weeks in a room overlooking the pool. Everything about the hotel was average, from the dated hotel rooms to the the service. The room was of average size with big windows, a mini-bar and safe. The towels were very thin, though they did provide a gown and slippers. Breakfast was quite good, though the waitering staff service not so good. Local phone calls were cheap from the room phone. They were very good with wake-up calls even sending someone to your room to wake you up if you didn't answer the phone. The luggage storage service and message service at the concierge was also very efficient.

Checking in was a bit of a process, and they required a deposit for extra charges, which I considered strange since the room was already paid for. Checking out was very quick.
There was very cheesy hotel lobby music daily, by not very talented singers. For entertainment I recommend the short walk to the nearby Robertsons or Clark Quay.

The main disadvantage is that the hotel is not very centrally located and is a fair walk to the nearest metro station. There is a bus stop outside the hotel, however the bus system is difficult to navigate. Taxis regularly stop at the hotel, though it can take a while to get one in the evening. The hotel was used for a number of functions while I stayed there, so many evenings there were long queues for taxis. There are also some KTV bars/clubs next door, which means that there are some very drunk people stumbling around on weekend nights.

One big disadvantage was that there was no free wifi in the rooms, only a very expensive internet cafe in the lobby or a cable in the room that required you to pay a ridiculous daily rate.
