“Great hotel! just not too crazy about their cleaning lady!”
Reviewed 1 December 2009

We booked the Marina Mandarin for 2 nights which got extended to 4 nights. The hotel is in a great location. Tons of places to eat downstairs, connects to suntec mall and marina centre. If you dont mind walking, you can walk to the sites at raffles centre area, singapore flyer, marina and merlion area and the 5 different malls.. its a SGD5-10 cab ride to everything else. Alot of bars, restaurant and live jazz music by the esplanade. just behind the hotel. Apparently the mineral pool is good, unfortunately didn't get a chance to try it. If your going to be spending time at the hotel, ask if its possible to be upgraded to a higher floor say 18 or 19 (definitely worth for the view), if they have the rooms they would accomdate you. Book the Festive Getaway Special they have on their website... if your staying for 2 nights. There is an irish pub downstairs, kinda pricey though for a pint. Poor cleaning lady though, the counters were still dusty, Basically she made the bed, threw out garbage and changed towels and soap. Breakfast if not included in your reservations can be pricey. So make sure its included. Food is good and HOT! Concierge was a great help for booking our tours. There is a bus stop about a minute walk east of the hotel, just past carl's jr., where you can grab a hop on hop off bus. This is great way to go about seeing the city... Hop off when you like what you see and just hop on and go to the next place. 12SGD worth it. Overall definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers

Big, modern and stylish room with a great view covering the Merlion and the Raffles Hotel and any amenities you expect. Add a Five-star staff and there you got the Mandarina Mandarin. A great experience, even for the experienced and serious business traveller.
By the Citylink Mall, there is a convenient air-conditioned access from the hotel to City Hall MRT station.
Just one thing to know: as an atrium hotel, you are likely to hear the piano music of the lobby in your room since the doors (and windows, too) are not sound-proof.

I stayed at the hotel for almost a fortnight in November 2009 across three rooms. I had the opportunity to experience the Deluxe, Executive Deluxe and Premier rooms. I must agree with a recent report that to "really experience" the hotel - you must stay in a Premier room or above.

The Premier room was much better than an Executive Club room at the Swissotel Stamford that I also stayed in around the same time. I stayed in a Premier room overlooking the bay and the Merlion from the balcony.

Room service was priced average when compared to similar rated hotels (i.e. SGD$40++ for breakfast), but very high quality and consistent. I recommend the Nasi Goreng Istimewa. Alternate food options are also available in the hotel and in the Marina Square Mall. It would be great if the hotel had a weekend laundry service.

My stay was made difficult with substantial transportation delays due to a VIP staying at the hotel during APEC. However, I understand that this affected most hotels in the area. Staff were friendly and considerate, including Duty Manager Thomas.

We stayed here for 3 nights on the way to New Zealand and were very impressed. We'd booked a city view room and when we opened the balcony doors there was the Singapore skyline before us! The room itself was great and had plenty of room with good quality fittings and furnishings - it seemed to have been recently refurbished although I suspect the bathroom hadn't (much orangey-red marble and the strangest red grouting around the floor!). Saying that, it was still very clean and spacious with a separate shower cubicle.
The breakfast was good with a huge choice of cooked and continental, both Western and Chinese. The only real negative is the prce of the drinks in the hotel bar - a pint of lager cost S$20! Admittedly alcohol is quite expensive in Singapore anyway but around £10 a pint is pretty steep!
The staff were great too - they waived the intenet usage charge so we could check in online for our onward flight and the reception and concierge staff were very polite and helpful.
Location wise the hotel is excellent - a 10 minute walk from the nearest MRT station through two (air-conditioned!) shopping malls and again a 5-10 minute walk from Marina Bay with bars, restaurants and a great Hawker Centre (food stalls) where the beer and food are cheap!

This hotel was one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. We booked a club room, so had access to club areas. The food was excellent, the service was excellent. The rooms are decorated to a high spec, very asthetically pleasing, the reception areas is also very attractive, as the rest of the hotel. Excellent display of art work. Some may think it's a little expensive, but we found it to be good value for what you get. Would definitely stay there again!

From the moment we landed at singapore airport we were treated like we were the only people there. We were met by a driver who took us to the hotel, we had to pay for this service but i think it is worth it. When we arrived at the hotel we were met by melanie who took us straight to our room to private check in. Now we did book the presidential suite so the service i thought was for that reason but we saw them doing it with everyone which was great.

All i can say about the room is wow, we had a dinning room table that sat 18 people which was a little excessive but hey. We had 6 balconies and a massage chair which i could not get out of so all in all amazing. The concierge was amazing very helpful and if you speak to paulo who is the manager of this he is great.

Now to the bad parts which there always is. The restaurants at the hotel..

We ate at the italian which advertises there chef as this amazing cook which im afraid he isnt. We had lasgne and i had the chefs fish selection. On this there was white fish, scallops and longastine. The white fish was not deboned the scallops were over cooked and the longastine i could not even eat. My partner lasagne was over cooked as if it was done in the microwave. I told the waiter and to be fair he took both off our bill.

The next night we thought we would go to the buffet which had a great selection but even though it was a buffet and you could have as much as you wanted we came out of there still hungry very strange.

So i would recommend this hotel to all of you but dont eat at the restaurants go into the city we tried raffles the next day for lunch in the long bar and it was great i love the whole throwing your monkey nut shells on the floor. Also you have to have a singapore sling there to there are great as i found out after 4 lol.

Having stayed at other 5 star hotels in Singapore I was disappointed with the Marina Mandarin. The atmosphere was quite dreary especially on the room floor themselves and looked a bit dated.

The service was quite disappointing and not once but several times the request had to be repeated as they had forgotten initially. The check in service was good however the checking out process was quite tedious. It seemed as though they welcome you as you are already there however when you want to leave you are ignored as you are leaving them!! It was a strange attitude that I experienced

The stay at Marina Mandarin was a disappointment for me when considering the service and rooms at other 5 star hotels.
